I should have told Sofia about my epilepsy. It was wrong of me to let her get attached to me before saying anything. I don’t have any excuses for not saying anything, so I’m not going to make any, because that would be pathetic.
I couldn’t believe how understanding Sofia was. I gave her an out, but she didn’t want to take it. Actually, I knew she wouldn’t. Romano would have killed her. However, we could have figured something out. Although my epilepsy is controlled with medication, there’s always the chance that something could go wrong. I didn’t want Sofia to think she’d be stuck with a husband she’d need to take care of. I don’t need looking after, I’m quite capable of taking care of myself.
When Sofia told me that she didn’t care about my epilepsy, that she just wanted to know everything in case I needed her in the future, I couldn’t help but smile. That girl is so understanding, and it means a lot.
After Dray’s apology, which I wasn’t expecting at the time, I sat with Sofia and told her what happened to me when I was eighteen. She listened without interrupting and smiled when I was done.
It was my eighteenth birthday, and Dray and I were with our cousins at Snakes Henchmen clubhouse. We were riding our motorcycles - yes, Dray and I ride motorcycles sometimes - having fun as we always did when we were all together. Storm, being the eldest of us, was bossing us around as usual. The funny thing is that we all listened to Storm.
Storm, Cobra, Dragon, Eagle, Wolf, DJ, Rabid, Razor, Vinny, Dray, and I decided we’d ride our motorcycles just to feel the wind in our hair. We ended up racing each other. It was fun, and I laughed the whole way. Storm signaled for us to slow down. It seemed my cousin could sense danger before any of us did. I hadn’t noticed that everyone else had begun to slow down. I turned my head for a second, noticing Dray had stopped his bike. His eyes were wide as he removed his helmet. I didn’t hear him scream my name, but I saw his mouth move to do so.
I don’t recall seeing the truck coming toward me. I don’t remember the impact when it hit me, nor what happened afterward. All I remember is waking up in the hospital with tubes coming out of me everywhere.
Mom was by my side, holding my hand, tears streaming down her face. Dad and Dray were on the other side of me, and Lydia was standing at the bottom of my bed. I was so confused, and I couldn’t seem to speak.
Dad explained that the truck had tried to brake to stop from hitting me. However, as much as the driver tried, he couldn’t avoid me. I hadn’t heard the horn blasting over the sound of my bike. I didn’t understand why because those things are loud as hell. Even though the driver swerved, trying to miss me, the side of the truck clipped my bike, and I went flying through the air. My body bounced off the road, breaking my left leg. I also punctured my lung, damaged my liver, and ruptured my spleen. I’d had surgery to fix the damage, and the doctor said that my spleen would heal in time.
I was in the hospital for weeks recovering. It was there that I was diagnosed with epilepsy. The accident caused damage to my brain, and that’s what I’d been left with. I would have epilepsy for life. It took a long time to come to terms with it, and even longer to deal with having to take medication each day. But I got there, and I’m okay now. I know how to ensure that I don’t have seizures, though sometimes, they creep up on me regardless. Stress doesn’t help, and I was stressed; I just hadn’t realized it. But hopefully now, my brother will stay away from Sofia, and I won’t have to worry so much.
I lean back against my headboard and close my eyes. Sofia and I are getting married in two days. She spent the whole of today with my mother and aunts, being fitted for her dress. Avery has worked hard to design the dress, find the right material, and get Sofia’s measurements in time. I have no clue how she’s done it or if she’ll be able to have the dress ready on time. I stay out of it. I don’t care what Sofia wears. Just as long as she walks down that aisle and marries me, I’ll be happy.
Tomorrow, I’m taking Sofia to see our new house. She doesn’t know about it yet. I asked Mom to keep it a secret. I want to see the look on Sofia’s face when she sees where we’re going to live.
A light knock on my door has me opening my eyes. “Come in,” I say loud enough for whoever’s on the other side to hear me.
I instantly smile when I see Sofia. I should have realized she’d come knocking.
She giggles while closing the door quietly. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“You didn’t.” I smile. “Is everything okay?”
She shrugs. “I just haven’t seen you much today.”
I hold my hand out to her. “Come here.”
Sofia’s smile widens. She rushes toward me, takes my hand, and climbs over me to get on the bed. I chuckle because she’s like a child! She climbs into the blanket and into my arms.
I kiss her head. “Better?”
She nods while looking at me. “I can’t seem to fall asleep without you lately.”
This has been a regular thing since the first night Sofia snuck into my room. It’s only been a couple of days, but we’ve both gotten used to being together each night.
“I know what you mean.”
“When we get married,” Sofia says while stroking my chest with her fingertips. “And move into our own home, can we have a bed like this one? It’s so comfy.”
I chuckle. “I think that’s the mattress, baby. But yes, you can have anything you want.”
Sofia blinks. “I like it when you call me baby.”
I cup her cheek in my hand. “Yeah?”
She nods. “Yes, Sir.”
My eyes widen.
Damn, girl!
“You’re playing with fire, little girl. Be careful you don’t get burned.”
“Maybe I want to, Sir.” She challenges.
“You keep saying that,” I say, voice lower than I intended.
Sofia smiles, seductively biting her lower lip as she shifts under the sheets. “Do I?” she asks, innocent as sin.
Tease!
“You know what you're doing to me. Don’t you?” I ask, thumb brushing over her racing pulse.
She exhales, slow and shaky. “Maybe.”
I grab her wrists, and she gasps when I push onto her back. My grip tightens—not enough to hurt, just enough to feel the delicate bones beneath my fingers. The way her breath hitches tells me everything. The sheets rustle as she arches into my touch, the fabric of her nightdress sliding up her thigh. I can see the outline of her nippl.es through the thin material, already pebbled, and the sight sends heat straight to my groin.
“Tell me,” I murmur, dragging my thumb along the inside of her wrist. "What do you want me to do with you?"
Sofia’s lips part, not answering, just breathing, and I lean in, close enough to taste the desire on her breath. She pulls her right hand free and tangles it in my hair, pulling me down until my mouth hovers over hers. “Anything,” she whispers. “You can do whatever you want to me, Sir.”
I groan, pressing her wrist into the mattress as my other hand slides up her thigh, fingertips skimming the damp lace at her hips.
Is she trying to kill me?
Sofia whimpers, her hips jerking as I tear the fabric from her body. “Oh, God. Luca!”
I smirk against her neck. “You’re so wet already, baby.”
Her answering moan is muffled against my shoulder, teeth scraping skin as I push the nightdress up, exposing her completely.
When my fingers finally dip between her legs, she cries out, back bowing off the bed. I swallow the sound with a kiss, swallowing her gasps as I circle her c**t, slow and relentless. “You like this?” I growl, feeling her thighs tremble. Sofia can only nod, nails digging into my shoulders. That’ll leave a mark. “Words, tesoro.”
“Yes, yes. I love it, Sir.” Her voice breaks as I add a second finger, curling just right. The bed creaks, the headboard knocking the wall in time with her ragged breaths. If anyone hears us, I’ll never live it down!
But I can’t seem to find it in me to give a shi.t. Maybe it’s the lust addling my brain.
I watch Sofia fall apart beneath me, flushed, desperate, and I know I’ll never get enough. Not of this. Not of her.
“Please,” Sofia gasps, eyes rolling.
“Cu.m for me,” I order, nipping at her collarbone. And she does, shuddering, her thighs clamping around my hand as she chokes on my name.
I don’t let up, not until she’s boneless beneath me. She’s gasping, her nightdress bunched around her waist, her chest rising and falling rapidly. I withdraw my fingers slowly, watching Sofia’s eyelids flutter at the loss.
Sofia reaches for me before I can pull away fully, her fingers clumsy as they hook into the waistband of my boxers. “Your turn,” she slurs, still dazed, but her grip is insistent.
I catch her wrist again, pinning it beside her head. “No.” The denial came out rougher than I meant it to. Sofia’s brows knit together in confusion, lips swollen from my kisses, and I gentle my voice. “Not tonight.” I trace the shell of her ear with my free hand, watching her shiver. “This was about you.”
Her protest dies in her throat when I kiss her, deep, slow, tasting the remnants of her pleasure on her tongue. She melts into it, pliant beneath me, and I smile against her mouth. “Next time,” I promise, rolling onto my back and dragging her with me.
Sofia tucks her head under my chin. Her breath is warm on my skin, and her fingers are tracing idle patterns over my stomach. I exhale while staring at the ceiling. My pulse thunders in my ears. The weight of Sofia’s thigh over mine, the softness of her curves pressed against me, is heaven and hell all at once. I want to flip her onto her stomach, spank her ass, and hear her cry out again, but I hold back. Tonight is about control—hers and mine.
Sofia’s fingers venture lower, brushing the tented fabric of my boxers, and I catch her wrist for the third time tonight. “Don’t,” I warn, though my voice cracks.
She smirks, pressing a kiss to my shoulder. “Why are you denying yourself? I know you want this, Sir,” she murmurs, and I groan, tipping my head back.
She’s right. I do want her to touch me. God, she’ll be the death of me.
I roll onto my side, facing her. The lamplight catches the gold flecks in her eyes, the way her lower lip is still red from my teeth. I trace the curve of her hip, lingering where her nightdress has ridden up. “Tell me why,” I say quietly. “Why ‘sir’?”
She hesitates, then smiles, small, secretive. “Because you’re a sex.y businessman. I sometimes imagine you sitting behind your desk at work, people coming into your office and calling you Sir.” Her thumb brushes my lower lip. “When you come home from work in your suit…” she breathes deeply. “It turns me on. It makes me wish you’d take control over me, Sir.”
Shi.t!
What is she trying to do to me?
I exhale sharply, catching Sofia’s hand and pressing a kiss to her palm. Her breath hitches when my tongue traces the sensitive skin of her wrist, and I smirk against her pulse. “Next time,” I promise again, dark and low. “I won’t hold back.”
She shivers, her nails scraping my shoulder in answer. “Don’t deny yourself.” She whispers while sliding her hand into my boxers, grabbing my coc.k and stroking me gently.
I groan. Even though I want to stop her, I can’t. I can’t fight the need any longer.
“Baby,” I whisper against her mouth. Sofia kisses me hungrily, her hand moving faster against me until I cu.m with a deep groan. My back arches, my stomach tightens, and my eyes cross over.
Fuc.k.
I open my eyes when Sofia giggles, and they widen when she licks my seed from her fingers. “Sofia,” I whisper.
“You taste so good. One day very soon, I’m going to take you with my mouth. Would you like that, Sir?”
I groan again. “You’re going to kill me. Aren’t you?”
She giggles against my mouth. “Only in the best way.”
I chuckle and pull her into my arms. We have a busy day tomorrow, and then, I’m going to have to stand back and watch her leave me. Yes, just for the night. Sofia is going back to her father, as is tradition, the night before the wedding. But I have a very uneasy feeling in my gut that something bad is going to happen once she walks back into that house.
