It was an unorthodox equilateral arch, unusually high for a church with a relatively short tower. Seven huge carved heads adorned it. Grotesque and sinister, they were completely free from ivy and from any trace of mould. The central head was a Giant, grasping its jaws with both hands, pulling its open mouth into a savage gaping grimace. A small half-swallowed n***d figure disappeared head first between the Giant"s teeth. To one side of the Giant was the head of a Cernunnos-like horned god, with writhing serpents issuing from its mouth.
