1 Flashback A sweet little girl comes bounding into the kitchen to find her mummy and daddy on the floor laughing hysterically with their legs tangled together in a clumsy mess on the floor. "Mummy, Daddy what are you doing, " the young girl says trying to sound angry at her two silly parents. Both heads turn and look at their daughter guiltily, they scramble to their feet almost slipping again with all the ingredients from eggs to flour sliding all over them. The parents Juliana and Jason loved to cook and bake together and ever since they had their beautiful little girl that have been trying to find time for them to be able to do it. The father suddenly has a mischievous glint in his eye which the mother soon picks up on. Before Mia the little angel could escape both parents begin charging for their daughter smothering her in sticky eggs and flour, a frightening scream accompanied by giggling, broke through the house probably deafening the whole street. After cleaning up the mess they created as a family, both parents went to clean up in the shower before it was time to go out. Mia couldn't help but be mesmerised with her big brown eyes at her mother and father and be happier than any child right now. Present day Flashbacks are a regular thing for me these days. Ever since my dad left us after becoming bankrupt with his businesses his excuse as my mum likes to call it. Things just haven't been the same. Apparently, he couldn't afford to be able to manage the house, the family car and both of us anymore and he doesn't want to let us down. But frankly, he's done just that by leaving. Mum has not been the same since he left I mean they were high school sweethearts and got married soon after finishing university. It's their fault for thinking they were going to work. I mean getting married and having a baby straight out of school just wasn't going to work. And I'm the baby. Mum doesn't speak to me often, she's always out in the office until late at night and sometimes she doesn't come home for a few days at a time. She believes that its best if she buries herself in work. Then she wouldn't have to think about him. "Mia", only realising that someone had been calling out my name I turn to find my next door neighbour a lovely middle aged woman. As well as being my neighbour she's also my auntie on my mother's side. "Hello Sally, is everything alright? " I ask her. She attempts to nod her head at me whilst holding a bunch of roses in her hand. I saw the clear struggle. She nods her head, "well yes darling just seemed like you were spacing off there, you want to come over for some dinner I know your mum isn't coming back tonight" Isn't she?, well she didn't tell me that, great now I probably look like an i***t. Sally looks at me and her face transforms when she realises that I didn't know and gives me a sympathetic look. "Sure" I reply "I'll be over in a minute " sally and my mum were very close sisters when they were younger. When mum got married to my dad the family kind of drifted apart until later on in my life. After a beautiful meal at Sally's, I invited Ashley for a sleepover, so we could go back to college tomorrow together. Ashley is my best friend. She has been for many years now and honestly couldn't have gotten through everything without her. Every girl needs to have a best friend growing up I was fortunate enough to have one. we spend the night scrolling through social media laughing at funny posts on f*******: that we can relate to meanwhile pigging out on Chinese takeout. Its normal for us to do this. Can't blame us, the Chinese around here is so good with the place being managed by a top Chinese chef who used to run a restaurant in Beijing. Mr waan doesn't settle for prices though its probably one of the most expensive takeouts in the city. We were just casually sitting on the bed after taking down the rubbish left from our meal when Ashley gets a notification the same time I do. I don't take much notice of it but Ashley quickly grabs my phones whilst holding mine. "What the f**k ash " I exclaim grabbing my phone back from her. I look at my phone and become confused when I see the screen, she was on f*******: and was on some guys profile. The name doesn't ring a bell but when I look at his picture I recognise it instantly because those brown eyes are very familiar to me. Not just to me though, every girl in school also recognises them. "He sent us friend request Mia " she practically shouts bouncing up and down on my bed like a total maniac. "So what" I answer, tossing my phone onto the bed. Friend requests are boring like we can call eachther friends. I begged my mum to let me have f*******: every since I turned 14 and it was great for those first years but then it just got annoying. Way too much drama that I didn't need in my life. "Ouch" I glare at my best friend, she just slapped me "no need for the violence." She is nice sometimes, most of the time she's hitting me when she's not happy with me. "You should be ecstatic it's Trey like it's a huge honour you know " she tries to explain to me. She's acting like he's the bloody prince of England. He definitely is not, from what I remember when he used to go to our school he was a total douchebag. I say used to, because he left school when we were starting year 10. "I'm not accepting, " I say quickly before running to the bathroom and locking the door behind me. I'm not being forced by her to do anything. I hear the sound of something being thrown at the door before a rather animal sounding groan escapes her lips. "No fun " she mumbles.
