A girl in black armour stood behind the closed door, her sword at the ready. When she recognised me, her stance relaxed. “The Master instructed us to let you pass,” she said, standing to attention. She rapped on the back of the door with the hilt of her sword and it cracked ajar. A male teenage face poked through and his eyes widened.
