Kazuna turns from Kagura and faces the sun. He stares at the horizon for a while before he takes a deep breath.
"Honestly, I was hoping that I could avoid this topic for just a little bit longer, but I knew that it was an inevitable discussion," He says.
"You don't have to talk about it if it's that sensitive of a topic," Kagura replies.
"No, it's something that I have to confront sooner or later, and I can't keep running from it," He says.
"I guess this is where we come in," Bahamut says as he, Karma, and Kirin transform into their dragon forms.
"Does it have to do with the three of you?" Kagura asks.
"Yes, you could even say that we are the reason for it," Bahamut answers.
"You would think seeing three dragons would be enough of a hint as to our involvement," Kirin says.
"I was just confirming my theory," Kagura replies.
"Some people like to act on facts over assumptions like you," Karma adds.
"You care to repeat that?" Kirin growls.
"Enough," Kazuna says while pushing the two dragons apart.
"Anyway, I'll keep it simple and save the detailed explanation for a later day," Kazuna starts.
Kagura nods and gives him her full attention.
"As I have told you before, these dragons are the kings of their respective elements, and, before they joined together, they didn't really get along well. However, due to the king of dragons becoming oppressive and threatening humans, they allowed a human to wield their power in order to take down a threat to themselves and humanity. But when they defeated the king of dragons, he left some final words," Kazuna explains.
Bahamut perches himself on Kazuna's shoulder.
"I will be back. You have only managed to seal me and my power temporarily. But when the seal breaks, I will be back, and that will be the end of that puny race of humans and all those that conspired against me," Bahamut adds.
"But how do you know that he will be back in Kazuna's lifetime?" Kagura asks.
"The proof is how strong of a connection we have to Kazuna. For instance, Kazuna's grandfather wasn't able to manifest all three of us at the same time," Bahamut explains.
"Also, before the three of us were sealed into our sword forms, we told our original master that the next one worthy of us would be born when the Earth goes silent," Karma adds.
"When the Earth goes silent?" Kagura asks.
"According to my grandfather, when I was born, there was no wind, all the clouds dispersed, every storm stopped, and all of the world's volcanos stopped being active," Kazuna explains.
"Didn't we write a paper that went over our theories of what could have caused that?" Kagura asks.
"Yes, it's pretty difficult to come up with a fake theory when you know the real reason," Kazuna jokes.
"My mom theorized that someone's power was responsible," Kagura adds.
"She wasn't too far off," Kazuna responds.
"So you were born, and because of the Earth going silent, your grandfather knew that you were the chosen one, but what does that mean, like, what's your duty?" She asks.
"At some point, the king of dragons will break free from his seal, and when that happens, it will be up to me, Bahamut, Karma, and Kirin to stop him," He answers.
"And if you fail?" Kagura asks although she was pretty sure what the answer was.
"He will probably use humans for food and kill me, Karma, and Kirin," Bahamut pipes in.
Kagura gulps at the prospect of becoming dragon food.
"But why does it have to be you, can't someone else handle it?" She asks.
Kazuna shakes his head. "I am the only person in the world that can hold these swords, let alone use them to their full potential; it has to be me," He replies.
"No one else can even hold them?" Kagura asks in shock.
"No, not unless I allow it, and you will only be able to use them as normal swords and won't be able to use their lightning, fire, or wind," He adds.
"How did Zer separate them from you?" She asks.
"From what I can tell, one of his men attempted to grab Kirin and was electrocuted to death. So he probably cut them from their holsters into containers." He theorizes.
"But why are they so volatile for others?" Kagura asks.
"I was literally born to use these swords; my power lets me use their powers as if they were my own. If let's say Yuu were using these swords, even if he could communicate with Bahamut, Karma, and Kirin, he wouldn't be able to use their respective powers no matter how strong he is. Also, Kirin isn't very nice," Kazuna elaborates.
"He had it coming." Kirin says in defense.
Kagura sits in silence, trying to wrap her head around his unprecedented circumstances.
"How can you not crumble knowing that the fate of the world rests on your shoulders?" She asks after a moment of silence.
"I'm flattered by the idea that you think I haven't already crumbled. I live with the constant thought of failing and not feeling worthy; I crumbled a long time ago," He answers.
There was another painful moment of silence.
"I had to ask about it, and now that I know, I'm just confronted with the fact that there's nothing I can do to help him. Really? Is there nothing I can do?" She thinks to herself.
The silence continues for a painfully long time before Kagura jumps from the bench, somewhat startling Kazuna.
"I think that you're thinking about this wrong," She says.
"How so?" Kazuna asks, following her lead and getting off the bench.
"You're worried about failing, alone, right?" She asks.
"Yes," Kazuna replies, still not sure where she was going with this.
"Well then, there's nothing to worry about," She says.
Huh?" Kazuna asks in complete confusion.
"Well, you won't be alone, you have everyone from class 1-A, Ria, Yua, the student council president, Momo, your mom, my mom, and if all of them fail you, you've got me," She says with a smile.
Kazuna stares at her in awe for a moment before he starts to laugh a little.
"There you go again, laughing at me when I express my thoughts," She pouts.
"No, it's just, when I thought about going into battle with everyone, a lot of the pressure that I have been feeling somewhat disappears," He says.
Kagura smiles at him.
"Good, then why don't we head to the last spot," She says.
Kazuna nods as he and Kagura leave the park. While they were walking, Kagura pointed out a few places that Kazuna was still unfamiliar with. By the time they reach their destination, it was already sunset. They were on a cliffside that overlooked the ocean.
"This is where my father and I would sometimes go to watch the sunset," Kagura states.
"It's a gorgeous view," Kazuna states while looking at the setting sun.
"Yeah, it really is," Kagura says in agreement.
She looks from the sun to Kazuna. She always knew he was handsome, but the light of the sun made him look even more attractive. His eyes were a golden brown and were almost piercing. He seemed to give off an aura that she felt was extremely warm and protective.
A warm smile spreads across her face, and her eyes sparkle.
"I guess you were right mom, I am in love with Kazuna," She says to herself.
She looks back at the sunset and leans on Kazuna.
"Are you tired?" He asks while looking over at her.
"No, just, let me stay like this a bit longer," She answers.
Kazuna looks back at the sunset with Kagura leaning on his arm.
"Even his obliviousness is cute," She notes to herself.
They watch the sunset before they start their trach back home.
"Thank you for the good time," Kazuna says once they reach their houses.
"Anytime, I'm just glad we got to learn more about one another," Kagura says in response.
"See you at school," Kazuna says with a wave.
"Yeah," Kagura says as she returns his wave and starts to head into her house, but stops at the door.
"Um, just one more thing," She says while turning to face him.
"Go ahead," Kazuna urges.
"Why don't you use your other two swords and their powers? If you used them, you would be stronger than any student from any school and stronger than most special agents," She asks.
"Maybe I'll tell you some other time, but for now, just know that it's simply for personal reasons," He answers.
Kagura looks at him with a dissatisfied look.
"Fine, I guess I can't expect to completely unravel you in one day," She says while walking into her house.
Kazuna walks into his house, feeling as if he forgot something important. He walks into the living room and sees an angry Ria.
"Oh, right," he says to himself.
"Where have you been?" She asks.
"Out," He replies.
"Where and with who?" She asks, getting into his face.
"With Yuu at his agency," He quickly replies.
"Oh, and what did you do?" She asks quizzically.
"Some patrols, you know, agent stuff," He answers.
Ria stares at him for a moment.
"I guess I'll believe you for now," She says as she walks off.
"You don't have to worry about cooking, I already ate with Yuu," Kazuna says.
"Yeah yeah," Ria shouts in response.
Kazuna walks to his room and flops onto his bed.
"Who knew that social interactions could be so draining," He says.
"Are you sure it was the right time to talk about our destiny?" Bahamut asks.
"Who cares? It was entertaining, right?" Kirin adds.
"You can blame my mother for backing me into a corner," Kazuna answers.
"Sorry, I should have stopped her," Karma apologizes.
"Yeah, you really dropped the ball on that one," Kirin says.
"It's fine Karma, you can't change the past, so what's done is done," Kazuna says.
He flashes back to what Kagura said.
"I'm not alone, huh?" He says to himself.
