The Origin Dragons

“Things appear to be going well.” Karma notes. “Indeed. It seems as if more and more dragons are getting over the initial shock of facing Amaraz and are doing the right thing by joining us.” Bahamut notes. “That Amaraz was too cocky. He never should have made me his enemy.” Kirin proclaims. “Normally I would downplay that statement, but I am truly glad that you are on our side,” Bahamut says. “Ah, it’s no fun when you don’t get mad.” Kirin scoffs while turning his head. The three dragons were flying to one of the camps they had for the humans to make sure everything was in check when they felt a chill down their spine. “Did you feel that?” Bahamut asks while stopping in the air. “Yes, it felt like bad news,” Kirin notes. “I can not believe he would stoop so low.” Karma growls.  Amaraz was in the deepest tunnel on the planet and in front of him lay Gaia, the dragon of the Earth. She was an absolutely massive dragon that even dwarfed him. Her skin was brownish-green and had greenery growing on her. “What does one of my children want with me?” She asks. She was still in a slumber and was communicating through telepathy. “Gaia, I have come to you for aid. There is a race known as humans that threatens not only us dragons, but you as well.” He answers. “How can these insignificant beings be of any danger to us?” She questions. “They are in their early stages, but I have seen signs. They rip apart your trees to make homes and weapons. They tear apart your soil in order to grow food for themselves. It will only be a matter of time before they destroy entire forests and devastate miles of land.” He replies. “I see your point, but why should I take action? Surely you can handle this yourself, king of the dragons.” She says dismissively. “Normally they would not be an issue, but there are dragons among us that do not see the danger that I do and instead are trying to save them. I need your aid in subduing them.” He says. Gaia was silent for a moment and Amaraz began to fear that his plea had fallen on deaf ears, but just as he began to lose hope, he could feel the ground at his feet shaking. Gaia had opened her neon green eyes and began to rise.  “I have talked with the land and the forests and they confirm your tales. I will aid you in your endeavors, but as one of the origin dragons, I cannot out right choose a side. So do not consider me an ally.” She says. “Of course, I would never be so presumptuous,” Amaraz says with a wry smile on his face. “I can’t believe he awakened one of the origin dragons. How low will he go?” Bahamut questions angrily. “So, what now?” Kirin asks. He may have been a bit cocky, but he was not one to underestimate an origin dragon. “We have no choice but to do the same,” Bahamut says as he changes their original course. After a short flight, they landed at a shrine for Ra, the sun dragon that was located at the largest mountain on the planet. “Lord Ra, I apologize for intruding, but we sorely need your assistance. We are at war with Amaraz and are trying to defend the humans. Normally, I would want to leave you and the other origin dragons out of it as you all wish to be, but Amaraz has already awakened Gaia. I only approach you in response to his actions.” Bahamut explains as he kneels before the shrine. Kirin and Karma follow his lead and wait in silence. The wait was excruciating for they knew that Ra’s decision could very well decide the outcome of the war. “It seems he has made his move.” A voice notes.  Bahamut opens his eyes and looks for who spoke and is left in awe of the dragon he saw before him. He had never seen an origin dragon, so the creature he saw before him was beyond his expectations. Ra was a massive dragon that dwarfed the three of them. His scales were more like armor and were the same color as the sun. His eyes were blazing red and his claws were like blades. His wings were the size of Bahamut and were lined with razor-like scales. The three kings starred in awe of his grandeur until Bahamut shook off the shock and spoke. “What do you mean he’s made his move? Have you been watching him?” Bahamut asks. “No, but ever since he usurped me I’ve been expecting something like this to happen.” He clarifies. “He usurped you? But he always stated that you appointed him as king.” Bahamut says. “Although he was a candidate for king, he was not appointed. I always found him much too arrogant and self-serving and had no intention of choosing him to be the next king. But through lies and deception, he managed to banish me to the sun and take over as king.” Ra clarifies. “He banished you?” Bahamut asks in confusion. “He coerced the origin dragons to stay out of future affairs of the world under the guise that the newer generation should lead the world. His wordplay led to all the origin dragons going into a comatose state of sorts. Once I was the last remaining, he used some type of power to banish me to the sun. It was all my fault. I had agreed with his statement that us origin dragons should let the next generation take control, but I should have known that he had some type of ill intentions.” Ra explains. “Then how are you able to appear before us now?” Karma asks. “I’m guessing it was due to him requesting the aid of another origin dragon.  It’s possible that by doing so he undid whatever spell he cast on me. Even so, I am only here in spirit. My body is still sealed in the sun.” Ra theorizes. “Do you know what dragon he awakened?” Bahamut asks. “It appears to be Gaia, which is the worst-case scenario.” Ra answers. “Is she that powerful?” Karma asks. “She is the dragon of the Earth. She can control the land and knows where everyone is at all times on it.” He answers. “What chance do we have if he has someone like that on his side?” Kirin asks. “Don’t worry, we have lord Ra,” Bahamut assures him. “Sorry to dampen the mood, but us origin dragons cannot interfere too much with this war,” Ra notes. “What do you mean?” Bahamut asks. “Us origin dragons have relinquished the future, as such we are f*******n from intervening directly. At most I can only slightly aid you. That’s why Amaraz awakening Gaia is such an issue. Her giving him information doesn’t break any of the rules that we have set.” Ra explains. “So you’re saying that you won’t be of any use?” Kirin questions. “Of course not, I am Ra, the first king of the dragons. Do not underestimate my capabilities.” He roars, shaking the entire mountain.  He raises his hand in their direction. After a few seconds, the three kings could feel power swelling up inside of them.  “What… What is this?” Bahamut asks in shock. “I have just granted each of you some of my power.” He answers. “I’ve never felt anything like this.” Karma notes. “I may have given you more power, but that will not be enough,” Ra notes. “What else do we need to do?” Bahamut asks. “You must ally with the humans. Not the way you have now, that is merely you keeping them safe, I mean by fighting alongside them. Among the race of humans, there is one that you all will deem worthy of wielding your power. By fighting alongside this human, you will be able to defeat Amaraz.” Ra states.  “You expect me, the lightning calamity Kirin, to fight alongside a weak human?” Kirin roars in anger. “In terms of pure strength alone they may be weak, but they have something else that gives them strength. I’m sure that even someone as proud as you will be able to work with them.” He says. “As if.” Kirin scoffs. “How will we find this human?” Bahamut asks. “He is in one of your shelters. Once you meet him, you will know.” He answers. As he said this, he began to grow dim. “It appears that my time on Earth is running short, soon I will be forced to return to the sun. Kirin, Bahamut, Karma, have faith and you will prevail. And once you defeat Amaraz, you must find the dragons of fate and destiny. You will know why once you meet them.” Ra says. “Understood and thank you Ra, for both the words and the strength,” Bahamut says with a bow.  “If only I could have made you king.” He says with a smile before completely disappearing. “How the hell are we supposed to find this human?” Kirin grumbles. “We’ll have to split up. Thankfully we at least know that he will be in one of our safe houses.” Bahamut states. “We will have to act quickly since Amaraz will know where everyone on the Earth is at all times.” Karma notes. “The way Ra worded it made it sound like she could only sense people that are on land. She might not be able to sense those that are in the water or in the air.” Bahamut points out. “We could use that to our advantage if that turns out to be true,” Kirin notes. “In any case, we should get to searching for this human,” Bahamut says. Kirin and Karma nod in response before flying out of the shrine.
