Bonnie, upon hearing Randy's words, lunged forward, her face twisted with rage, but Rhett, standing beside her, grabbed her arm and held her back. Then, stepping in front of her, Rhett—Andrew's subordinate and a former college classmate of both Bonnie and Randy—took a deep breath and tried to mediate. "Randy, I think you've got us all wrong. There's no need for this hostility. We were classmates once, friends, weren't we?" He paused, glancing at Randy as if searching for a flicker of recognition or agreement. When none came, he pressed on. "I'll admit, Bonnie's betrayal was... unfortunate. But everyone has the right to pursue a better life, don't they? If you couldn't give her the life she wanted, isn't it only fair to let her go and find it? You can't hold that against her forever." Rh
