AN UNDERGROUND SPLIT
The first thing that Sam and Alice saw when they took their seats in the public gallery for the meeting was that all of Rasper’s old assembly had been replaced by members of the Underground. Avenue X Ray, Green Runner, Tess the Dress, and Baz Brick were sitting round the table.
“It’s alright,” said Alice, “It’s all the old Underground.”
“Why didn’t anyone ask you and me?” asked Sam disconsolately.
“Well, perhaps they couldn’t find us.” said Alice.
“Or they didn’t look. And who did the asking anyway?”
Sam’s question was answered by Fortuna who swept in to the room with Jack Juniper and Percy Pike behind her. She sat down in a chair at the head of the table and said, “Alright Pike, you can sit there. You’re the only Rasperite we’re allowing. And that’s only because
