THE SECRET MEETING They came in the dead of the night. Most of them wore their blue Rasperite uniforms for safety as they crossed the town. They went to the Green, gave a bluebird whistle and Belle collected them and brought them up to the print room. It took over an hour but at last they were all there, except one. For some reason Avenue T Mary hadn’t come, but no-one minded, there were enough. After the last one was in they bolted the door. Miriam and Jack had hung old blankets in the windows and lit the entire room with candles. There were about twelve of them packed excitedly together between the broken presses with the golden glow of the candlelight on their faces. At last something was going to be done about Rasper. Sam read out the names from his list as he looked round the room:
