THE BEGINNING
By the time Alice got back to the Workshop, the others were already there. As Sam mixed the paints for the posters, they told Alice how they’d spread out in the darkness of the town to find their other friends. Several times they’d nearly been caught. Jack Juniper told how he had dodged the Rasperites to find Avenue X, Ray; Fortuna was convinced that Tessa (or Tess the Dress as she was usually called because of her wild clothes) would be joining them, but had only managed to leave a message for Avenue T Mary. Only Belle had been unsuccessful, but as she’d done so much already, no-one had expected too much of her. They were all very satisfied with themselves except Miriam who had looked very sad ever since she’d arrived.
“What’s the matter, Miri?” asked Sam.
“There’s more,”
