THE GREAT RASPER GAMES
There was such a crowd that by the time Alice and Sam got to the stadium the games had started. They stood to one side of the main stand and looked around. All the town was there. Rasper was seated high in the middle of the stand and every now and then a winner of a race or an event would make the long climb up the blue carpeted steps and stand head bowed as the band played and the Great Ear hung a medal round his neck. Editor Thrust leaned forward with his notepad in his hand, writing down every word Rasper uttered.
Sam was getting more than a little bewildered. As every one of the winners approached Rasper for their medal, their faces split into the widest of grins. They seemed pleased and honoured to be close to him.
