RASPER’S PALACE The day was cold and bright. The last preparations had been going on all night and even now some of the workers were hammering a final nail or raising a last blue flag. Sam and Alice were walking down Avenue C. She was once again disguised as a Rasperite. They looked ahead at the huge Grandstand looming high in the distance. “It’s a shame it’s all for Rasper,” said Sam, as they walked on. Alice smiled to herself. Sam still had no idea of what they intended to do. The first event that day was the Opening Ceremony of the Great Hall. Rasper would be carried in his huge chair from the Green.
