Sienna's POV
"Mr.Thorne" I greeted formally as I walked to his office.
His eyes lifted from his phone screen, a blank expression on his face that quickly morphed into something sort of shock and awe. His eyes moved so slowly down my body, lol he could see through them. I am used to taking offence by this but something about the way he did it didn't make me feel insulted, it made me feel something I shouldn't feel.
"Mr.Thorne" I called out again stressing the formality in my voice, just in case he needed some reminding.
"Miss Blake, please join me" He quickly adjusted himself moving his eyes back to his phone screen like he hadn't slipped up some minutes ago. His cold exterior was back and for some reason, it made me happy.
"What are we having?" I asked, dropping my purse on the desk and taking a seat.
“Make your choice, there is pasta, steak with wine, mini sandwiches, and chocolate-dipped strawberries”
“Oh wow, you really went all out, are we expecting people?” I asked as I looked around the table, I wasn’t hungry before but I am definitely starving now.
“Nope, just take this as my little way of saying sorry for calling you out again” He answered in his casual voice like it was such a normal thing to do, I couldn't ignore the warmth that filled my heart.
“Well, apology accepted” I smiled while taking a seat.
“Much better”
“I never saw you as the type to apologize, especially in this manner” I admitted grabbing a plate for my meal.
“Oh really, please tell me Birdie, what type of man do you see me as?” He asked, a small smirk on his face as he watched me.
“First of all, I am not some bird and I would appreciate it if you would stop calling me that”
He smiled, like really smiled at me his eyes lighting up, before speaking up,
“No one ever said you were a bird, Blake”
“Well, the name says so” I shrugged.
“It is just an endearment, birdie,” He said simply, his attention going back to his meal but the butterflies in my belly seemed to be working on their own accord.
“An endearment? Thought endearments are for when we have company?” I asked, keeping my face neutral, that Julian can never know he has even the slightest effect on me.
“Well, this is different” He shrugged.
“How so?” I pressed further, and he was answering my questions without answering them and he knew it.
“I would tell you much later, right now we need to finish up and prepare for the meeting” He dismissed digging into his meal without a care in the world. It was unnerving yet refreshing to see a side of him other than the one I have been seeing, no unnecessary tease, no sudden coldness, just calm Julian.
I don't know what is up with him but I'd better enjoy it while it lasts.
“Are you sure you're hungry?” He spoke up watching me like he was trying to figure out what I was thinking about. Sorry Mr.Thorne but you don’t stand a chance.
“Trust me you have no idea” I responded, taking a bite from my plate groaning loudly as the goodness filled my taste buds. He definitely has good taste, one good thing about him at last.
“You like?” He asked although the look on his face told me he already knew the answer to his question but I answered anyway.
“I love”
I took more bites letting myself savor the goodness totally taking my mind away from the impending, I hate the public but then you can’t be in a fake dating relationship with one of the hottest billionaires in the whole of New York and expect to stay away from the public.
“I am glad you like it” He beamed.
“Blake” He called out his voice sounding serious, guess good ol’ Julian is back, didn’t get to enjoy it for long.
“Mr.Thorne”
“I was hoping we could…” He stopped midway as his office day flew open drawing both our attention to the door and the drama unfolding.
“I am so sorry, Mr.Thorne, I told her you insisted you didn’t want to be disturbed but she wouldn’t listen. She didn’t even want to wait so I could call you to inform you of her arrival” A woman I recognized from earlier as Julian’s secretary quickly said pure fear in her eyes. I moved my eyes back to Julian watching his reaction but he didn’t seem fazed or shocked by the woman’s actions meaning he knew her, and she is definitely of some importance to him if she could barge in here like this.
“It’s fine, Leah, I know how Izzy can get” He sighed, waving her off. She thanked Jim and hurried out of the office shutting the door behind her leaving us in the room with the creepy-looking woman.
She should be nothing less than 25 but she looked much younger, she could be mistaken for some teenage girl. She was dressed in a really short red dress that hugged her body so tight I couldn’t help but wonder if she was breathing at all. Her face is caked with makeup, and her red lipstick gives her the perfect doll vibe she was trying to pull off. Julian shouldn’t tell me this is his actual preferred type of woman, a blonde Barbie doll that just loves to shop and travel without any actual dreams for herself, that would just destroy whatever good I see in him.
“Julian baby, I texted you and called you but I never got any response from you” She whined totally ignoring me and going over to his side to hug him, placing a kiss on his cheek. Julian didn’t make any move but he didn’t push her away either.
“Thought you weren’t back till at least the next week?” Julian finally spoke up as she pulled away, his face devoid of any emotions making it difficult to decipher what he was thinking.
“I thought so too but I heard about ‘her’ and I had to shorten my travel” She finally responded acknowledging me. She eyed me from top to bottom with malice in her eyes…great nobody told me I had to deal with jealous girlfriends, what was I expecting anyway?
I rolled my eyes at her, not hiding my disgust at her character. She is not the only one with an attitude.
“Izzy, this is Sienna…” He paused briefly glancing at me as if asking for permission before completing his sentence, “My girlfriend”
She didn’t look shocked by his words, why would the news be everywhere, rather she looked really annoyed by it like he had just slapped her, hard.
“A girlfriend I found out about through my PA….really Julian, this is where we are now? I thought we were best friends” She spat, sounding hurt but I know better. She was more jealous about it than hurt.
They are best friends huh… interesting.
“You have been out for two months Izzy, things have happened within that space, I am sorry I didn’t mention her to you, I totally forgot”. I snickered loudly at his excuse of an apology, he could fool her but he can’t fool me, he purposely didn’t mention it to her and I am glad he didn’t.
“Really Julian, I can’t believe you” She screeched stomping her legs on the ground, Julian had to tell me why and how he knew someone this childish.
“Izzy, can we please talk about Thai later, maybe you can come over for dinner, you must be tired from your journey”
Great she can come over for dinner, his godmother must like her too. Why didn’t he just fake date her instead, or even marry her after all he loves her enough to be best friends with her?
“No Julian, answer me”
“Izzy, I have a meeting in 10 minutes, I don’t have time for this. Just go to my house, Mags is home” He sighed. I glanced briefly at her catching the irritation and anger that filled her face as he called the name, whoever that is must definitely not be a fan of his dearest best friend just like me.
She wanted to argue but she quickly kicked against it as she noticed my eye on her, she knew I saw it. She glared at me and hated pouring out of her before turning to leave, her heels clicking loudly on the ground…a real b***h.
“I will be in your room” She finally said as she got to the door probably to get a reaction out of me but she really has no idea how much I didn’t care.
“I am so sorry about her, Izzy is just a handful” Julian apologized as the door banged shut.
“Should have warned me about your wannabe Barbie doll before now” I spat going back to my meal. I could see how much he wanted to laugh out loud but he didn’t…it wouldn’t be right to laugh at a joke about your own best friend right?
