Chapter 2: Fate Sealed

Axel did well trying to find the ingredients to change us into hybrids, not just regular hybrids, ones strong enough to take on Aidan and his band of foolish brothers. After the dark witch agreed to help us, I was ecstatic to be closer to my goal of taking my throne back from Aidan. Sheila walked into our lab, and we stared at her; she was a beautiful woman but very deadly, and we didn't want to piss her off. Sheila made the potion, and I had my Beta, Axel, and a new Gamma named Jack to drink the potion with me, as his brother refused to be with us out of loyalty to his mate's family. Axel would kill him for his betrayal, as I asked; we woke up newly transformed, and they had blood bags waiting for us. We had about twenty of our close friends transform and started planning to take over.

Esmerelda didn't want to change until after the war, and we would become the most powerful hybrids in existence once we got the book. We planned to kill Cayden, his brother, and Elijah; the rest will fall in line once that happens because Emile and Dominic, as far as I know, are neutral. Plus, we can't afford to go to war with them until I have the other kingdoms under my thumb; maybe I can offer him Issy as a mate, since her mate will be dead, and he has no mate, and we can have an alliance. Sheila made sure we transformed properly, but we wanted more blood; she also informed us that without the book, she couldn't make us immortal, and I need to find that book more than ever. Sheila looked at us with an evil look in her eyes and dropped her dress, she was naked and said, "f**k me, all of you, I could handle it," and we did as she asked, we f****d and fed from her and before we woke up, she was gone.

Axel brought me a list of eligible clans in Rogueland that can fight in our wars; I also had them abduct men and women from their territory and force them to fight for us. I wanted only Alphas and Betas as generals, but there was this one Alpha who refused to join us. Axel assured me that he would be a good general, but he was stubborn; I asked, "What can you do to get him on our side?" I remembered Alpha Geoff; he was banished years ago by his pack for being a treasonous rapist, but I didn't believe the rumors, not that it matter to me, in some way or fashion, we are all rapists of some kind. I threw his file on my desk and said, "Get your men, plan accordingly, and when the time is right, drag his girlfriend here; that will force his hand, it will drive him into war to take his anger out, and watch your back; he will want you dead." Axel smiled and said, "I love a challenge," before leaving me to dream about victory.

Two Months Later

I watched as the Rogue King built his army to go against King Aidan and his allies, and from what I was told, I knew he had a death wish. Those guys came back powerful and were going to kill him; they wanted revenge for when they were double-crossed by him and killed. They lost everything in that coup, and now it was time to pay the piper; I was living in this territory after my father exiled me for treason. My younger brother set me up because he wanted to be Alpha, but he didn't have the heart to kill me then, so I was exiled instead. I was stripped of my birthright, and my mate rejected me and mated my brother so she could be Luna; the last thing I heard, she had his pup a year later. I lived in a small cottage at the edge of Rogueland, which was protected by a magical barrier that hid our location, and it has grown into a beautiful city.

However, the rogues who lived here are harsh, and with very few rules, you have to survive, or you can end up dead, I left my girlfriend in bed to get some firewood, and I heard wolves running toward the cottage, so I headed back; I heard her scream, and when I got there. They were dragging her outside when I saw Roman's Beta asking, "Where is your boyfriend?" I yelled, "Over here," holding my hands up in the air, surrendering. Beta Axel looked at me, and I felt something strange about him; he smiled and said, "You work for us now." I said, "No chance in hell, I'm not fighting your wars," when I saw him rip my girlfriend's head off so fast it took a while to register. I knelt in defeat, watching her head thrown at my feet, the pain I felt at her death subsided as the rage took over; I didn't fight because I needed to get on the inside to kill Esmerelda myself and avenge Meri.

He looked at me with a smirk on his face, tasting her blood, he was a hybrid, and said, "You do now." They handcuffed me, leading me to the capital; I was dead inside, and I hoped then that Aidan would end all of them. We reached the barracks where he had many forced warriors staying, and we weren't allowed to talk to each other; I sat there, hurting that Meri was gone. She was carrying my pup; she just told me last night, they had taken my family away, and once this war is over, if I survive it, I will kill Axel and Roman for this. I will rise to the top and be the King the Rogues need; we didn't ask for this, and all of us aren't bad; I am living proof. We were misunderstood and cast out; some of us were rejects, longing for a place to stay and acceptance after banishment. There are criminals here, but every kingdom and territory has those; why do we get treated differently?

I saw a quiet blond-haired guy in the corner, and he seemed lost; he was attractive and didn't seem to belong there, but I closed my eyes and waited. Three days later, we were training; the guy's name was Jerrod, and there was something about him, but I couldn't put my finger on it. He was taken to be a protection detail for the Queen, and I was hoping to end up in the Palace soon if I were to kill her and Axel's family. Rumor has it, he has a daughter with some random she-wolf, and he always makes sure she is safe, his one weakness. We trained hard for months, and Roman had informed us that we would be attacking many territories so we could crippled Aidan's allies. I saw Jerrod in uniform at Roman's side; he was a bodyguard, and he was handsome in a suit; I smirked and thought, "I could admit that."

Later, we had a celebration where we had women and food to celebrate; however, I retreated to my quarters thinking of how to bring them down from the inside. Roman would fall by my hand, or better yet, I could watch Aidan and his team take him out, he was too stupid to realize people hated him, even the rogues, he didn't know how limited his time was, and soon, he would find out, all of them, including Axel. I lay down looking at the ceiling, thinking about Meri and my unborn pup, hoping they found peace in the afterlife. I rubbed my chest, feeling the pain of it all; I had lost them because I refused to be involved in the stupid war, and I held in my pain of losing them for so long that it would drive me to take this kingdom and turn it into something special. It wasn't my fight, but Roman and Axel made it my fight, and once the Civil War was over, Rogueland will be mine for the taking.

I kissed my fiancé; he proposed to me after learning that I was with his pup, and he was happy, and so was I, and promised to extend the cottage and create a nursery before I gave birth. I tried to protect my pup, screaming, "Let me go, my baby, stop!" I reached the front porch and saw Beta Axel, who bent over, looking me in the eyes, and asked, "Where is your boyfriend?" I wasn't sure what to say when I saw Geoff walk out from behind the trees with his hand in the air, yelling, "Over here." Beta Axel said, "You work for us now," and Geoff said, "No chance in hell, I'm not fighting your wars." I saw the panic in his eyes, and I started crying; they were going to kill me to force his hand, and I mind-linked him, "I love you, avenge us," feeling fangs in my neck, and then I saw black.
