With the ball switching from his left hand to the right hand, he quickly passes the ball to Makoto. Makoto then dribbling towards the goal area and is getting ready to shoot. As he’s about to shoot, the bulky Segawa is right in front him, trying to block his shot. Without much thought, Makoto does a fade away to avoid Segawa from blocking his shot. The ball goes into the hoop, making our team the first one to score.
I can’t believe it that Makoto is doing a fade away with his current condition. “Makoto, do you want to hurt your back so badly?” I yell at Makoto, who doesn’t seem to think twice about doing a fade away with his current condition. “It can’t be helped, though. The situation was calling me to do it,” Makoto replies back to me, without having any sense of guilt.
