BROKEN BUT NOT DESTROYED
Chapter 1: TRAGIC EVOLUTION. Life is such a very peculiar “thing”, if I may put it that way. At one point it may seem like all is working out as planned, but, out of the blue, something occurs which makes life change for the better or worse.... With no formal invitation whatsoever, life can make or break a person, but it all depends on the will of the person and many other factors, to be able to push through the trying times. All in all, it’s not always advisable to be too comfortable with a certain situation without expecting any sort of turn of events that comes with it. The resilience of a person in all situations is what makes me want to be the better version of myself in order to reach my full potential. A truly wonderful case of true resilience and unbreakable will to overcome is of a young lad by the name of Pat. Patrick McCartney, popularly known as Pat, lived in a small town in the outskirts of the city of Shropshire, with his wife and two children. Living a moderately good lifestyle, he, together with his wife Mildred owned a pretty good amount of land where they had a very stable supply of the essentials to go through life. The y owned several heads of cattle, flocks of sheep, some chicken and a couple other animals in the farm. Their children were being educated in the nearby school to which the students came from all corners of the town. Life was such a smooth sail, or so it may seem. Although everything looked if it were okay, there was such a very troubling situation that nobody seemed to want to bring up. Truth be told, the town was faxing a very big predicament that had been put under the mat for a pretty long time. It started a few decades ago, when a young couple went out to explore the world and bring forth wonderful stories to those who were left back. It was such a usual case to have them gone for a couple of months, the maximum being around four, and they would come back bearing not only stories, but also souvenirs from the places they had explored. They would be so much eager to tell everyone of their wonderful venture and lessons they had picked up on the way that would be of benefit to the people of the town. This would go on for a while now until one fateful time to which a tragic event would occur that would change the whole course of their lives. It was on one fateful morning when the couple had done the necessary preparation to go for their usual ventures. Everything went according to plan and as they were on their way to one of the countries they had planned to visit, Durban to be precise, the couple encountered an inevitable situation. We’ll, since the aeroplanes were something new at the time, the plane that they were travelling on failed to do some procedural check-ups and lost control of one of their engines and some other technical issues while still airborne. Being trained in this kind of circumstances, the pilots tried to manoeuvre their way to the nearest airport. Unfortunately, they had not properly calculated their flight path and the plane started to dive to the ocean at a very alarming rate. With that, the plane hit the ocean in a very huge bang, claiming the souls of about a hundred people on board. Investigations were underway immediately the authorities got wind of the situation and as for the towns people, the news came as a certain shock unto them to which there was a period set aside to mourn the couple since they had such a huge importance to them. Since it all depended on the type of person hearing the story, it was passed down to the others, with everyone adding or removing a piece or pieces of information to suite their own needs. The matter of the fact still remains that the once pillar of the towns’ development in all aspects had perished due to the modern technology of the Western Civilization and since then none of them had ever quoted to associate themselves with anything to do with them.
