Marcel’s strained and pleasured moan followed, as he stood dressed in his wedding coat. His trousers hung half down on his leg as he pounded into Nate from behind.
Nate’s head turned to where I stood at the door as if knowing I was there. And I watched frozen as his lips curved, curling into a smug satisfied smirk. Just then, he threw his head back in pleasure as he spoke.
“Your precious mate could never satisfy you like I do, right Marcel baby?”
I heard the mockery in his tone as clear as day.
“Never—” Marcel groaned with not one hint of hesitation.
The entire world grew cold. Even the pain in my mate's mark stopped as everything flashed through my eyes right there as I watched them. Every single f*****g thing.
“Get away from there you can’t fight them, you’ll get hurt. Just leave me here to die,” my fourteen-year-old self screamed at a sixteen-year-old teenage Marcel.
His grey eyes snapped to me, flared with rage that I spoke about my death.
“I’ll die before I let you die, Alina, so don’t you ever utter those words from your lips. I’ll protect you, now and forever always remember that before you speak of dying,” he gritted, as his eyes moved to where a younger Nate folded himself timidly in fear behind me.
And then, Marcel’s gaze snapped back to me. “Run and get help, I’ll hold them off,” he yelled, just as he transformed into his huge grey wolf and attacked the incoming rogue.
As if being sunk underwater, I was pulled out of that memory as another one flashed through my mind.
“Marcel!” I breathed.
My wide eyes took in his form standing at the end of the room. His shock matched mine as he stared at me, his wolf brimming just beneath his eyes.
“MATE!” He growled, immediately rushing towards where I stood.
“MATE!” The eerily unfamiliar voice of my wolf left my lips just as Marcel’s hands wrapped around my waist lifting me in the air with a twirl.
His amazed eyes filled with so much joy stared at me like I held the moon itself, as he smiled widely, his deep laughter vibrating through me.
“You’re my mate, Alina,” he breathed in relief, planting a kiss on my head.
“I am,” I squealed, just as he settled me on my feet.
“Heavens, I’m so glad Selene paired us. I love you, Alina. I love you so much, and I know you’ll be perfect for me, as my mate and my Luna,” he breathed, wrapping his hands tightly around my body.
My hands which were clenched tightly, holding my wedding gown finally fell to my side just as a traitorous tear escaped from my eyes, as I was brought back to the present.
Back to watching the man I’ve loved ever since the day he saved me in the woods when I was fourteen. Watching my mate and fiancée, f**k another man few hours to our wedding.
Everything became clearer now. The pain I’ve been feeling all through our bond since the day I let him mark me a month ago.
It was not because he was in danger, no…not at all. They were in pain of betrayal! He was killing my wolf slowly by cheating on me!
“What a perfect wedding gift Marcel!” My calm voice came, echoing through their moans and grunts as I walked deeper into the room.
My entire body felt cold, and I could barely describe how I felt, but I could swear I was barely breathing.
Marcel’s movement immediately stopped, his d**k still buried deep in Nate as he turned to me.
His face paled just as his wide eyes took me in, and then, his gaze moved back to Nate who was still bent before him.
“Heavens!” He gritted, moving out of Nate's within seconds just as he struggled to drag his trousers up, running towards me.
“I swear it’s not what it looks like, Alina,” he muttered hurriedly.
I took a step back right before his disgusting cheating hands could touch me.
A mocking smirk curled on my lips. “I’m sure it isn’t, Marcel. You must have mistakenly walked into Nate’s ass while I was waiting for you like a damn fool at the altar.” My voice sounded calm, too calm.
Marcel shook his head, his beautiful grey eyes the first thing my foolish teenage self fell in love with, stared at me, pleading. “No, don’t say it like that. It was…”
“Stop trying to explain things to her Marcel, she’s overreacting without knowing the complete truth,” Nate snapped, finally standing on his feet as he wore his clothes.
I felt like I had been dropped in an alternate universe. “Overreacting?” I repeated.
“Yes, you are,” he snapped.
“Do you have even a hint or idea of what Marcel had to sacrifice just to be your prince charming. Do you know the things he had done to protect you from discovering our relationship? Or do you have any idea of my own suffering all these years?”
“All these years?” I breathed unable to hide my pain and shock this time, as my heart pounded harshly against my rib cage, it was a surprise that I was still standing.
“Yes, Marcel and I have been together for years. Even before you came into the picture,” Nate hissed, moving over to where Marcel stood as he wrapped his hands around him.
My gaze moved to Marcel, seeing the coldness with which he stared at me, and something stabbed right at my chest. That searing pain that makes one forget how to breathe.
I had no idea exactly when it left my throat, but a deep dark laughter slipped out from my lips, echoing through the entire room.
“Wow! Don’t you both look perfect. A cheater and his smug cheating…”
“Change your tone, Alina!” Marcel growled, cutting me off.
“What?”
“Change your f*****g tone and don’t you dare speak to Marcel so rudely, know your place,” He spat, finally regaining his stance.
I watched as the same man I had loved for years transformed into a beast before me.
“Know my place?” I laughed harder struggling to form words properly.
“Today is our wedding day Marcel. We’re supposed to be standing at the altar celebrating our love. Our love of five f*****g years!” I yelled, my voice cracking.
But Marcel looked completely unaffected by my words as he planted a kiss on Nate’s head. Then he took a step close to where I stood.
“And what are you doing here, Alina? Are you not supposed to be waiting for me at the altar like my bride?” He gritted.
“Or did you intentionally come here to catch me f*****g Nate so you can go out and tarnish my image?”
I stood frozen, not even a sound leaving my lips as I stared at him, wondering if maybe this was some kind of dream.
“Everything Nate said is true. So stop acting like I betrayed you or something. I’ve sacrificed a lot to act like the perfect man for you. So go back to that damn altar and wait for me like the perfect bride I paid your father for,” he spat.
“I’ll come there when I’m ready. And if you say a word about what you saw here, I’ll…”
First, it was a scoff, that slipped something low, as it left my lips, till it turned deeper, and darker. It sounded less like a laugh, but it was enough to freeze Marcel as he watched me in confusion as everything in me steeled.
“You can keep your threat to yourself Marcel, I understand clearly. It seems I obstructed your beautiful relationship, don’t worry. I can see everything clearly now, so I’ll free you,” I bit my last words out venomously.
My wolf whined in pain and agony at the sight of his remorseless gaze.
I clenched my fist, heat surging beneath my skin as my eyes flashed gold, the color of my wolf. And right there, I watched Marcel’s face drain of all color, genuine fear brimming in his gaze for the first time.
He parted his lips to speak, but I beat him to it, with my lips curved into a dark smirk.
My fingers clenched tightly around the engagement ring I ripped out of my fingers, with my gaze still trained on him, I threw it directly at him roaring loudly in rage.
“The man I loved died the second I walked in this room, and there’s no use holding onto his remains,” I bit out.
“Alina, no…” Marcel started but I cut him off.
“I, Alina Vale of the Greenlake pack, reject you Alpha Marcel Reed, as my fated mate, as my future Alpha, and as my husband.
May you live hell on earth, Marcel.”
