Shifting and running had always came to Crystal as natural as breathing. On their first run with the new pack members though, she had realized that although it might come naturally to her, for Tertius and Katinya had been unable to shift. Although Tertius had kept up pretty well with the rest of the pack, Katinya had been a different situation.
It is required that all new pack members must join in the run unless they are too young to shift. As Katinya had shown her ability before, it had been expected of her. Crystal had belatedly realized the mistake in this when the girl had struggled to keep up in her human form.
Thus it was a week later, Crystal could be found with Katinya, Brad and Tertius in the old circular clearing next to the river, where the triage had spent their first night.
