Chapter Four (4)
Sunday Morning:
In the Kace's House -
Mrs Kace and Amanda had prepared dishes of different sort and set the dining table classically since their guests were very rich.
Mr and Mrs Kace were wearing matching outfits and they both sat on a sofa eagerly waiting for the arrival of their possible future son in-law. Amanda sat opposite them wearing a pink floral gown with matching jelly shoes which complimented her lemon green pair of eyes. Not long after, Tonia came into the sitting room wearing a short and fitted royal blue dress with black kitten heels. She sat down beside Amanda as they exchanged glances and giggled.
?Lim's POV?
In the car:
"Mum, you know I don't love Tonia. I just want to use her as a bait because I don't want dad to strip me of my inheritance just because I've not presented a girl to him. So don't get yourself worked up mum. Besides, Tonia is a rude and spoilt girl but she's my only alternative now because we've once dated and she's from a decent and well-to-do family",I said all in one goal as I exhaled softly with my hands on the car control and gaze fixed solely on the road.
"I know son, but I don't want you to do what you don't want. You are just 24, I can still help talk to your dad, dear,"Mrs Santa-Cruz, my middle-aged and beautiful mother said.
"Leave it mum. I can do this on my own, I just need your support"
Mum fondly patted my right cheek and sighed.

I drove into Tonia's family house and parked carefully. Mum and I walked towards the big brown entrance door which had a door bell attached at the center. I rang the bell twice and instantly, I heard a familiar angelic voice saying....
"Coming"
The door was opened and what I saw left me speechless.
"A..am...anda?"I blurted out.
"Willy?"She called back.
Oh God! The sound of my name coming from her lips made me reminisce the past.
Amanda was and is my first and only love. We had been childhood besties right from elementary school down to high school and then colleges. She disappeared from my life during our third year in college after the death of her parents. Her mum and mine were best of friends so, mum was almost depressed when she heard about the death of her best friend. Since then, I never set my eyes on Mandy(as I call her) till this moment. Her sudden departure from my life made me turn cold and distant to everyone excluding my parents and sister.
Gosh! I missed you like crazy Mandy
She yelped as I lifted her up and swirled her. She giggled as I did that.
"Stop Willy, put me down,"She said still laughing.
I hearkened immediately. It's been a while since I've been this happy.
"Good morning, aunt. How have you been?", Mandy greeted amidst smiles.
Mum looked like she was about to cry.
"Oh come here baby. I'm fine,How have you been?"Mum asked hugging her while still bombarding her with questions.
°How have you been coping?
°Are you alright?
°Where have you been all this while?
? Mum is such a drama queen
"Aunt,Aunt I'm fineeee," Amanda replied withdrawing from the hug.
"That's all that matters. I'm living with my uncle, aunt and their daughter", She continued
Just then...........
? Tonia's POV ?
Ten minutes had passed since Amanda went to get the door, but she's still yet to return.
"What are those voi....... Tonia I think you and your mum should go and check what is happening at the entrance", Dad suggested.
I stood up along with mum and we walked towards the entrance.
What I saw made me stand transfixed for a while. The scene of Lim hugging Amanda and a woman who I think is his mother smiling foolishly at them kept on re-appearing in my head. I decided to clear my thoughts because I knew that Amanda wouldn't hurt me, something must be unclear.
"Uhm, Lim, you are here"
I could swear I saw a fleeting look of disgust in his eyes as he looked at me.
"Tonia, look, here's Willy my best friend I told you about", Amanda said looking at me with joy-filled eyes.
"Huh.. who's Willy?"I asked
"Me, only Mandy calls me that ", Lim replied coldly.
I couldn't understand the link between this two. What exactly was going on?
Mum decided to clear the uncomfortable atmosphere.
"Uhm, Mr and Mrs Santa-Cruz, please come in", Mum said smiling as she gestured for them to come in.
Mrs Santa-Cruz smiled and went in while Lim had a reluctant look but he still went in. Mum went in also. It was now Amanda and I left.
" Wow, Tonia, I never knew Willy was your boy friend",she said smiling.
"Hm",I responded with a fake smile as I left the entrance leaving Amanda behind. I still had my doubts.
