Late in the evening, two days before Winter Solstice, Irenya went to the library. Again, a faint glow came from the open doorway. This time there were no cloaks on the table or soft noises and the room was unoccupied. On the table lay a thin volume, Reflections on the Heart of Meia. It looked uplifting, something to sustain her hope. She turned up the lumen, opened the cover, and began to read. The contents were similar to a manuscript she had read not long after her arrival, though the last page was different. The sum of a life is a circle that reaches the far end of the universe and returns at the moment of death with the harvest of that lifetime.
