"Pardon me? Come again, now?" Everly didn't seem to hear Eric's statement.
"I want to quit being a lawyer. I want to take over the ranch. " Eric said slowly, reiterating his previous statement. "If it's not too late, please annul the contract you have with Francois and hand the ranch over to me."
Everly still looked confused. She looked up at her son. She then shook her head. She then began nodding and smiling.
"Eric... did I hear you correctly? Did you really say that you wanted to quit being a lawyer and that you now want to run our ranch?" Everly asked, her voice uncertain.
"Yes mother, that's precisely what I just said." Eric confirmed.
Everly began laughing. She shook her pointer finger at him while she attempted to contain her laughter.
"Are you pranking me right now?" She ask
