Chapter 49 Cord's POV I didn’t know that Rachel had left until I overheard the Luna talking to the Alpha. She sent her sister off to another pack where her mate was waiting for her. She tricked her into going. Now, why in the h*ll would she do that? Tricking her own sister to go to another pack because her mate was there. I bet she would come back in two days and yell at Tori, but she never did. I waited for that moment. Then, on Wednesday night, Alpha Bear announced that we would be working on the houses because Rachel and her mate's pack was moving here. He had already started building and it should be ready in a few weeks. So, they will be coming Friday afternoon. I was excited about it. She actually found her mate; maybe then she and I could be friends, but we will see. Packer and I have grown really close. I am learning to love her, and she the same with me. Today was the day that Rachel and her pack were returning. I was excited to see her and her mate. I wanted to see how he looked at her. Did he look at her the same way I looked at my mate? With so much love and care, and would kill anyone over her. I knew it wasn't any of my business, but I just wanted her happy. I knew I had hurt her. I had told her what I wanted us to do and talked about the future. I knew that she was holding her head up while we rejected each other, and then when I came to get my things, things happened between us. But that's over with. Yes, I still have feelings, and I think I will always have them for her. She was my first love. How could I not have those feelings? I shook them off when Packer came to the door. She was all smiles when she saw me walking over to her. She was one of those who went with Tori to pick of Rachel and her pack. "How was the ride? Did everything turn out okay?" "Yeah, everything was good. Rachel seems really happy with her mate. I swear the way he looks at her; it's like he dares anyone to come up and hurt her. He would rip anyone's head off their shoulders for that woman. So, you don't have anything to worry about. He loves her, and get this, he has marked her. I saw her neck; it's a wolf with a half-moon. It looked really pretty. "I'm glad you went instead of me. I don't want him thinking I went just to see her. I would have gone to help them, and that was it. But I'm glad you went instead. To be honest, I thought she would have looked at me with hate on her face, but she only smiled at me and said hi to me. I think she is okay, that her heart is healed. Her mate helped her heal from her heartache. I really hope that she was right. I don't want her to have to avoid me because I would really like to have her as a friend. I wouldn't try to speak to her about what we had. What we had is gone now, and I'm happy with Packer. I need to let go of the past and look forward to the future, pulling my mate close so I could hold her. I swear to the Moon Goddess I would never hurt her, and that was my promise to the Moon Goddess. I don't want her to get angry at me and then kick my ass for hurting someone else, and my mate would probably kick my a** as well. Leaning down, I inhaled her scent, then kissed her. "Do you think we have time for a round before dinner?" she giggled and then said. Yep, we have time. Dinner will be done in an hour, so we need to make this a little quick, but not too quick." Kevin's POV: Pacing back and forth in my office, this thing is taking way too long. We had two whole fuc*ing months for this thing to get done. I could cause a little trouble in some of the packs around, and I have rogues attack the packs. It could be fun hearing about rogues attacking packs. I went out in the middle of the woods where I knew there were rogues. They came up to me. I paid them to attack the one and only Mercury Black pack. They looked at me like I was crazy – well, I was crazy. But I also wanted it done. I wanted to hear about death and blood. I wanted to hear about someone getting killed. I told them not to kill Mercury; leave that to me, I have plans for him. “What about his other family? What do you want us to do?” I said, smirking. I could care less about what they would do to them, but I knew I had to say something, so I said, ‘Do whatever you want to do, kill them. I really didn't care what they did, as long as they got badly hurt.’ I gave them an extra grand. “When do you want this done?” “If possible, I want it done tonight. I'll even go with you. I want to watch to see what is done to them. Do not mention me at all, and if you get caught, you do not know me.” “That is going to cost an extra grand, because if any of us get caught, we are not going to be tortured for answers, so you better pay up, damn it.” I found and handed them another four grand. They better be lucky I was holding this much money. I didn't have it in my pocket; I had it in a small case I was carrying, just in case I needed the extra money, and I did. “Alright, so let's head out. They are only an hour away from me, so I'll leave the shift and get there faster.”
