Chapter 37 Alpha Cole POV I was starting to get nervous again. When John told me he had made it to the airport and was now waiting for them to land, I sat back to relax. I drank a brandy, which seemed to calm me down a little. I started doing paperwork and checking emails. I wanted everything done before they stepped foot in this room. I asked an omega to clean my office several times. He could tell I was nervous. He spoke softly to me. "Just breathe, Alpha. Everything will be fine. Everyone knew that my mate would be here any minute now. They are all supposed to just act normal and not scare her." When John mind-linked me again, he said that they are in the car right now and on the way back to the pack. Oh, goddess. I hope she won't be pissed at me for doing this, but it needs to be done. I needed to see if we would connect face to face instead of the dreams. I was so into doing the paperwork and checking emails and checking out the banks I own. I always didn’t hear the link that John was sending me. "We are pulling up. I am going to show her around like we talked about, then I will show them to the office. Just be prepared. She is in work mode." So, here I was, and Night was going nuts right now. He wanted to go see his mate. He wanted to see how she was doing. "Calm down, Night. You're going to scare her if you go out there and try to jump on her. Just let her do what she thinks she is here for, and then she will be here soon, I promise. then you will get to see her." You just better hope she doesn't hate us after this. We tricked her into coming here so we could see her. We took away her choice. I didn’t think about it at first, but he was right. We took away her choice. s**t, I didn't even think of that. I just wanted her here. Let's just hope she is not too pissed. Maybe she would like it that I made an excuse to see her in person, or she could just knock me right in my head. The cooks mind-linked me, telling me that dinner was done. And then John did the same when he told me that they are on their way. I needed a smoke, but I don't want the room smelling like smoke. Pouring me another glass of brandy, I drank it down to calm my nerves. It took a while for them to get here, but I started smelling cocoa and muffins. Oh, that scent was so mouthwatering. That's her, that's our mate. She's coming, human, and she is coming. I wish Night would shut up. He's not helping one bit. He was wagging his tail, ready to jump. I had to hold him back. Then the door opened without anyone knocking. I knew it was her. I could see her hand on the door. She walked into the room, shutting the door in my beta's face. She looked at me, stood there looking at me, and then she said my name like she couldn't believe it was me. "Alpha Cole, no, it just can’t be. Wait, I don't think she knew what to say." I moved from behind my desk toward her. She didn't back up, didn't move. Was she scared of me? Was she pissed she didn’t show any emotion at all? She just stood there watching me walk toward her. Then I stopped right in front of her, touching her hand. I brought it up to my chest so she could feel my heartbeat. “Now, do you believe me when I tell you that I'm not a ghost? I'm sorry I tricked you into coming here, but I needed you to see me. I need you to know that I am real and I want you and only you. Do you realize how nervous I am?" Looking at my hand, then at me, she kept it there for a few seconds longer than took it away. “So, you tell me you had me on a jet to fly here so you can see me in person. You have already told me you weren't a ghost. How did you know I was ready to see you? Why bring me here for this?” She sighed and looked away, surveying my office. The folder slipped through her fingers onto the floor. She didn’t bother looking down at them. I knew she was pissed. I tried touching her; she moved out of the way. She raised her hand, slapping me. Yep, I deserve that, and it hurt. I could feel her handprint forming on the right side of my face. I could feel the stinging feeling of her slap. She tried it again, but this time, I caught her hand; once was enough. Listen, once was enough, okay? There is no need to slap me again. I understand I brought you here thinking that you were going to look into rogues getting into my land, but your sister, Tori, was worried about you as well. Everyone is. You haven't eaten, you don't sleep, and when you do, you stay up until you're so tired you end up falling asleep. And that’s because of that f*****g sh*thead and what he had done to you. Tell me that I'm wrong. It's like you told me, I am nothing like the person that hurt you. I'm not him, Rachel. I don't have another mate waiting for me to find her. I know how it feels to be hurt, okay? You need to let everything go. He is not coming back, Rachel. Just like Ronda isn’t coming back to me. I had to let go, you need to as well. Trust me, it hurts, and while you're going through this, I will be right here. I want you, honey. Do you hear me? I WANT YOU!! THIS WHOLE PACK WANTS YOU! I wasn't done talking, but she suddenly went down on her knees and started crying. Yep, that’s what I did when Ronda left me and when I finally let her go. This is exactly what I did, but I was alone. She's not. I went down on my knees as well, then pulled her to me, rocking her back and forth until she stopped crying. It's alright, baby. We are going to take this one day at a time. I have already bought land, and the builders are already building. It's between your brother’s pack and your sister’s, so you won’t miss them at all. “I can't ask you to do this. I could always ask Dad to get the jet, and I can fly to them. You just can’t pick up your pack and move to another state. I could only smile at her. She was thinking of me and the pack. What a true Luna. But it's already in place, and the pack already knows about it. So that's what I told her so she would feel okay. Honey, it’s already in progress, and the pack already knows. They are excited about the move; they don't mind at all. I talked to them about it on the day I talked to your dad and your brother. I called them first before I had them fly you here. I'm sorry, but I had to. I needed you with me. I heard her sigh then she started to stand up. Just do me a favor: no more lies, no more hiding things from each other, no more anything like that. I won't deal with it, okay? I nodded and asked her if she was hungry, and told her she needed to eat something. "How about this, I will try and eat." Well, we are having steak with a baked potato. They put all the sides to the side so we can decide what we want on it. She nodded as we both got up off the floor, walking over to the door. I opened it just as John was about to knock. He almost fell over; Mohawk was right beside him with a worried look on his face. "It's okay. We talked about it; we're going to try," I said, smiling and nodding. John bowed his head to her. "Luna, dinner is ready. Half the pack is going to be in the dining hall, but we always have our own dining room. What do you want to do?" "How about we go into the hall where everyone is at? I don't want them to think I'm trying to avoid them." "Oh, I'm sure they will understand. But let's go; I'm sure they want to meet you." We walked out of the office into the dining hall. Everyone stopped talking and looked in our direction.
