Leaping Shadows

1426 Words
I climbed the stairwell of the domain and went back up to the twins' room and checked on them. The helpers had already left their work for the evening since Heather and I would be around to attend to the twins if need be. I looked into their room and tucked their covers properly and patted their butt's as they squirmed a bit and smiled, even in their sleep. I guess little angels were protecting them all this while and knew that the twins were all in good hands. I kissed their foreheads and cheeks and felt how soft their puffy and chubby cheeks were. I laughed inwardly as I stroked their ash grey coloured hair before I placed their little bolster closer to them. I went back to my room where I changed into my nightwear. It would not be appropriate to be called a nightie because I'm a man and men don't wear those frilly lacy nighties to sleep...! Hahaha. It is just a one piece long undecorated piece of clothing that's most comfortable to wear since there's no restriction at all. You know what I mean by no restriction, right? Hahaha. Soon after I got on the bed and then chosen the most comfortable sleeping position amidst the war zone they Heather had set up for herself, fortified with pillows and bolsters strewn about on the bed. Soon right after, I was soon chased by the zee monsters and headed into la la land. =*= "Eagle, I've got some information of you wished to hear them. It may or may not be as accurate as it seems but it's part of something  that had been with us for years and was written back for quite some time already." A troubadour and a few others sneaked into the windmill, presumably the best place to hold such secret meetings so as not to alert many suspicions that the troubadour comprised of the Shadow unit members which were unreported to me. "Oh... What do you have for me? Come and let me see it." Eagle reached out and received some small booklets which were circulated as part of a songbook or a fairytale book that would be used to narrate during performances for the Royal families. These booklets had nothing depicted on the covers but the contents were full of information and this information had yet to be verified. Yes, these booklets and songbooks were storytelling books narrated during these performances and inside these books, were records of all the mythical beings that what I had needed to find out most. Although the language inside those books was rather archaic, it could be read and be understood despite all the weird spelling errors in them. Eagle flipped the books and decided to keep them aside as the ones who were used to tell these stories during their tour would be the troubadours themselves. "So, tell me more about these mythical creatures and how could they be found. Would they be easily found here in English or somewhere in Gaelic or in Cymraeg lands? And would there be any means of communications or whatsoever that needs to be specifically attuned by the people who try to meet them?" Eagle was excited since he never knew that this information was readily available through the troubadours. In fact, he knew little about these Shadow units since their job was entertainment and killing. Hahaha. "Well, Eagle... These mythical creatures are readily found here in these lands and anywhere else as well. They have their own teleportation gates and able to appear anywhere around the world." "They would be found near mountainous and dense and virgin forests where minerals and other precious protected woods would be found like super tall trees and trunks that need several people to hug around them. You get the idea." "Thirdly, there's no need for some kind of special language to communicate with them. If they wanted us to communicate with them, their language would be automatically turned to simple English like how we are conversing in right now." "If they speak in tongues, then it's either they are trying to converse among themselves secretly or they are simply planning something hostile towards us." "We understand that there are certain people here with special abilities that communicate with mother earth and those people, if we are not mistaken, would have bypassed these mythical creatures in the past few years without realising them at all." "Besides, these mythical creatures would appear invisible to our naked eyes except for those huge beasts such as orcs and flying creatures." "Based on the information what we have on hand right now, it would be best to speak to the people with special abilities and see why they would come up with. I guessed from my own personal point of view, they may have intruded their territorial spaces umpteenth times without even realising it." One of the troubadours highlighted her ideas and was well received by Eagle and decided to discuss with the Priest and Priestess on the next following day. The conclusion that was made by one of the troubadours could be considered as one of the trigger factors for the mythical creatures to somehow retaliate against humankind. Eagle had no other options or answers to relate to this cause but could only take up the explanation by the troubadour as one of its reasons. What makes another species to be angered if their houses and territories were being invaded, am I right? "Thank you so much for your invaluable insight on this matter, guys. This booklets that you had handed to me would prove to be important as we would be soon having an Adventurers Guild and Our Majesty had some tasks already in his mind." "Likewise, I would also put my hand into his own matters as I don't see the reason not to give a helping hand. Besides, His Majesty's directions may be in line with ours so we would be able to get as much relevant information and resources as we possibly could." Eagle thanked the troubadours as they saluted and excused themselves, leaving Eagle alone in the windmill area as he went to the upper level and started to draft his diplomatic decree to release the serfs. "Heh... Rules are to be bend and be broken sometimes. Even though the serfs cannot be bought or sold as slaves, but I'm sure the glittering gold coins would not be a hindrance for these Lords to release them at a small price." "I wonder how much gold would be able to make do for the release of those serfs. Maybe I should include silvers first and then gold if they were to counter the offer. Nevertheless, I can't be in the forefront to do the dealings and would only have this decree to perform its miracle." Eagle thought to himself as he began to draft a simple one on a piece of paper first before he was satisfied with the draft, then he transferred them into the parchments so that he would let me put down my signature and seal. "If diplomacy cannot be negotiated with these Lords, then let those serfs escape with the Adventurers and head back here in this town and perhaps... Hang a pouch of silvers where it could be found easily as compensation. Heh. That's right... Sometimes if the soft approach doesn't apply, another painful approach would be exercised." Eagle thought of this himself as he planned the 'extraction' of these serfs from those Lords that had been treating them unjustly. From his point of perception, he saw that my bedroom's incandescent light had been covered with a heavy drab to hide out the shine which indicated that I had already fallen asleep. Without further ado, Eagle began to set out on his task on preparing the initial phase and requesting a certain amount of gold and silvers to release the serfs by the person and by the household. =*= Dear friends and fans, If you discover any grammatical errors along the way, we would appreciate if you would be able to point them out as part of helping us to keep this novel as perfect as possible.
