Adventurers Guild

It was quite late in the evening when Heather had finally retired to the room while the twins were tucked in and had already been sleeping peacefully inside their own beds in their room. I was over at the balcony and was watching the late evening's activities as the workers were gathered around the outdoor kitchen area and were having their supper or the community milling about to do their purchases in the grocery store after their work. Because of the second shift factory workers, who started their work at 3 in the afternoon and ends by 11 in the evening, the grocery store normally would be open till 45 minutes past 11 to accommodate the late-night shoppers. No ones complaining since everyone was willingly helping each other in terms of straightening out their own manners without the involvement of the management much. Gwen and the hunter-gatherers had already completed dressing up their kills and had just rinsed the pelt that they had acquired downriver. The innards had already been stored in its individual vat and put away at the cold storage for our own uses to prepare pottage in days to come. Sir Blackie was waiting at the sides of the outdoor kitchen area as Gwen had arranged for someone to boil some internal organs of a young boar and to give to it sparingly. Besides, Sir Blackie would even be satisfied with some trotters, roasted in the old earthen oven. I scanned the surroundings and found that it was rather peaceful and compared to my dream earlier today, it was a stark contrast of what things might have been in the future. "What shall I do now? Would we just accommodate the brick houses in the first cluster and make this domain as part of an administration building?" "There's no need to have a sort of Motte and Bailey type of castle or a huge Manor because it would definitely attract the most attention to any perpetrators." I thought to myself as I went downstairs after I had ensured that Heather was sprawled on the bed in any sleeping position that she felt the most comfortable. I walked along Royal Street and down School Lane and Hospital Lane where I looked at both of the magnificent three-storied buildings and discovered that the school had already been used to handle some of the administrative work in this town. As for the hospital, I am sure that Priestess Isabela would still be busy handling the patients and ensure that her performance was at a peak when she treated them. This resulted in a quicker discharge of patients from the hospital and reduces the recuperation period per patient. At least in every 3 to 4 days, 4 patients would be discharged and replaced with another 4 new ones. I walked back along Royal Street and reached Factory Park where numerous workers were getting off work and replacement for the night shift had just taken place. It had been clockwork operations back there and those buildings were also being bombarded by this gnomes 11 years later. I could not put my finger on why the gnomes reacted towards humankind in that manner since I do not have many references to it. However, it seemed that along the way, humans were the definite cause of these creatures to retaliate against the humans one way or another. As I took a stool and sat down at the outdoor kitchen preparation area, I saw that Gwen had finished soaking the pelt and had nailed it up on some boards to make them dry and fully stretched. In this way, we would be able to have some soft shoes and other leather materials to make into shoes and other clothing materials. Even though we do have bales of cloth from the new clothing store but the hunter-gatherer preferred to have their own leather gear as it signifies their trade professions. Well, as long as they are happy, then everyone's happy. I was lost in my own train of thoughts when Gwen approached me after she was done with her task. She took a stool and sat before me as she began to open up her own suggestions as well. "Your Majesty, I had been thinking of suggesting a building called the Adventurers Guild. We have the Guild for the Priests and Priestess, and we also have the Engineering Guild as well." "What we might be missing is an Adventurers Guild where we would be able to congregate the adventurers and then get them to perform certain tasks which in turn be rewarded with coins for them." "In this case, since we wanted to find out more research on the gnomes and other mythical creatures, then we could send out these Adventurers where they would bring back information or perhaps a gnome or two." "That would be able to serve the purpose well km having such Guild for the Adventures. What do you think of it, Your Majesty?" "Just like having Shadow scouts but this would not be on a military basis." We pondered for a while as Gwen stocked some firewood inside the fireplace and the flames flared and we were surrounded by the warmth of the fireplace within minutes. The fireplace here still uses firewood and only the charcoal would be used in the homes as its much more cleaner to burn and it won't create too much soot that would make the whole kitchen black despite having vents in place near the kitchen walls. Hahaha. I was piqued with interest at Gwen's suggestions as I told her to continue. "Your Majesty, take for an example we put up an expedition for the Adventurers who signed up for the task. It doesn't matter how many of them would partake in that expedition and no matter how long it takes for them to complete it." "When they had accomplished the task satisfactorily, a reward of coins would be provided for them. The higher the difficulty is, the higher the coins would be. It is just an example and there would be someone who would be in charge of issuing those tasks to these Adventurers. What do you think, Your Majesty." "So, this task could be handled by as many Adventurers it could take and the coins would then be divided equally among them, am I right? Hmm, sounds like a feasible idea to me. So it would not be restricted to any type of tasks then, am I right?" "That's right, Your Majesty. I do have a rough sketch of how an Adventurers Guild may be built, it would be a double-storey building, the resting area would be on the upper floors by means of some tables and chairs where they would be able to discuss, rest and relax." "The lower floor would be a place where they could register to take on the task and maybe to find members of their own. Once a task had been taken, it would not be issued once again." "At least when they had found sufficient members, they would then commence in their task. Its a totally different profession for them and the task can be anything from gathering information to gathering resources." I was holding to a piece of stick and was scratching the ground with it as I listened to what Gwen had informed me. I did it very feasible and certain things and information could be discovered in this manner. I looked at her and smiled as I agreed to her suggestion and told her to delegate the task of getting the right person to man the desk in order to dessimate the task. In this case, the hopes for finding mythical creatures could be easily obtained and we do not have to rely on the main force to do it. "Sounds interesting, Gwen. I totally agree on this and discuss with the relevant people to bring me the draft of the design and the location of the Adventurers Guild." "So what are the criteria for being an Adventurer?" "It's quite simple, Your Majesty. The person needs to be at least an archer and a melee combatant. He or she should be a survivalist and also able to gather the vital information or resources that we need." "I have the right person to man the desk and it would be either Michelle, Nolan or Oscar." I smiled once again and nodded my head in acknowledgement as I stood up and have Gwen arranged for the necessary people to come up with the plan. At the meantime, I had to meet Eagle to discuss this matter with him and see what he got to counter propose.
