Big Balls Of Fire...!

2140 Words
After Heather had wrapped up the meeting with the senior members of the board, she went to the Priest's Guild to see how I was progressing from my candle flame experiments. I had just finished the light refreshments at Greasy Spoon and not a word was spoken about the candle flame experiment there and only resume the discussion when we are back at the guild. After I had succeeded in lighting up the candle using the flame that was from my mind several times, the peers all wanted to see if I could conjure up the fireball since all I had been doing was lighting the candle and it is getting pretty boring after umpteenth time watching the whole process repeat continuously. "Your Majesty, why not try something else? You had been lighting up this candle since the time you entered here, you know." pleaded Priestess Imelda as she helped to set up the candle before her sworn sister and she was hoping to see a huge fireball instead. "Oh...! Audemars was able to make a fireball already? I want to see... I want to see...!" Heather was excited when she learnt about it but I told her that it's not a fireball yet but was just a flame is projected from my mind to light up a candle. When I mentioned it, Heather slapped her head and told me that she had forgotten about the light caster that was mentioned last night since it was not written inside the journal at all. "Don't worry, my dear. It is for internal use and we could go meet the engineers to talk to them personally. However, we need to have Farah's assistance since the incandescent stone would be might brighter and be as bright as the sun itself. "You wanted to make a light caster using the incandescent stones, Your Majesty? Show us how it looks like so at least I could have some idea on how it would be in the future." Priestess Farah and the rest were distracted from the current task as they listened to us on how the light caster would be like. "Oh... It is going to be a circular type design about a few feet in diameter to take the best effect. It would also have some shutters so it could be shut off when not in use." "Also it could be used to signal to other watchtowers as a means of communication too. I'm not sure of the Shadows were able to communicate with each other using these lights but I'm sure one of the Shadow unit members had a father who worked in the seas and familiar with flags and lights to send messages across." I don't know where that last sentence came from but it was mentioned with ease and confidence as if I knew that communication using flags and lights was a norm. Somehow I knew it was memories from the back of my mind that I was able to say out these things to them. "Show me how you light up the candle using your mind, dear. Let me see it once and you can practise on your fireball later on." Heather was the next one to plea with me and I relented and let her see how I light the unlit candle in front of Priestess Farah. After I had done so, Heather was in awe and the rest all were heaving a huge sign of relief as the candle was finally stored away. "Now for the next trick, the fireball, please Your Majesty. Farah is vulnerable to flames so she could be in the front to block the fireball...!" It seemed that the peers were making Priestess Farah as the scapegoat as I once again got onto my cross-legged position while Priestess Farah was sitting a short distance away and ready to play 'catch' with me. "You might want to use the Sun's Eye, Audemars. Just make a triangle in front of you by touching your thumbs and forefinger together. Concentrate the flame within it and once it had become a ball of the size within the triangle, you can release it." "The intensity of the first few fireballs would not be too harsh for Farah to catch it. Besides, there are several stages of intensity, but as you practise, it would be from red all the way to white." Ceres suddenly spoke inside my mind as I raised my hand up to communicate with her and this made everyone hushed as I spoke telepathically to Ceres. After I replied to her as I resumed with the peers. "Alright now, I've got a new way to deploy the fireball and it would be this way. So Farah, do get ready, alright?" I finally spoke up after I had communicated with Ceres and was shown an image in my mind before I continued. I raised my hands in front of me and formed a triangle and I projected the flame to be inside it. I could feel the flame jumped from my mind and into the triangular space where it actually became a small orb after bringing brightly for some minutes. "Farah, get ready to catch...!" I called out as the small orb on my hands was bright enough to illuminate the room but was not hot enough to be felt as a threat. The small reddish orb in the triangular space in my hands intensified slightly and when I called out Priestess Farah to catch it, it seemed to understand and suddenly it left the triangular space and went straight for Priestess Farah...! Everyone was gasping with shock and awe since they all could see the reddish orb slowly leaving my hands and travelled towards Priestess Farah as if its a red ball that I had casually toss it to her...! It took several seconds before I reached Priestess Farah before she held out her hand to retrieve it before it hits something flammable inside the guild. "Eehh...? Does it suppose to travel so slow, this fireball? Any enemies who see this could easily evade and walk around it without feeling panic at all...! Hahaha...!" "If I am the enemy I would pick up a stick and hit it so its trajectory would be diverted and hit a homerun...! Hahaha...!" Everyone laughed so hard that some were nearly in tears when they heard Heather cracked the joke. But she immediately congratulated me so my ego would not be too deflated. Hahaha... "Your Majesty, this fireball seemed rather unique. I felt a sense of strong energy even though it is this small and moved terribly slow. Was it intended to travel this slow or it had its own mind because I can feel this tiny fireball had its own form as well. Its as if it wanted to communicate with me somehow." Priestess Farah held the tiny fireball in her cupped hands as it seemed to be bounding around restlessly unlike any other types of a fireball that had only one intent — DESTROY...! "Come, throw back the fireball to me then." I motioned for Priestess Farah to throw the fireball back to me which she casually did and I caught it on my hands. As I was peering into it, everyone wanted to take a look at it and poke it to feel of its hot or not. Suddenly a notification rang in my head and announced that I had successfully discovered a furnace where I could conjure up pills through thought. "Huh? Pills through thought? What's that?" I happened to say aloud without realising as the small flame danced sough above in my left palm and there's no signs of heat or any discomfort at all. The rest of the peers all looked at me since I was talking to myself and to no one in particular. What awed them was the small flame that was twirling in my left palm and when they touched it, they too never felt any heat, just like what Priestess Farah would do when she lighted the way with the flame from the fingertips. "With this furnace and pills through thought, you can throw in all kinds of medicinal herbs into the furnace to concoct the desired herbs needed by the community." "It can be a single ingredient or multiple ingredients and the furnace would do all the work for you." "All you need is to top your left hand slightly and the pills would be deposited into whatever container underneath it." "Depending on the number of herbs provided, a single portion could at least makes 6 or more pills." "You don't even require to mix in any other kinds of additives to make those pills and the pills would be equally sized." After Ceres had narrated and explained to me the use of the furnace, she reminded me to call out the 'OFF' command to extinguish the furnace. If I wish to conjure up the flames, all I need is to outstretched my left hand and summon the furnace. "This furnace is not the fireball that was intended to form. Try it out once more and see if you could conjure up the fireball this time." Ceres advised me as I explained to the rest of the peers that the one I talked to was the guidance system embedded within me and explained the uses of the dancing and bounding friendly little flame in my left hand. "No wonder this flame is not hot and it seems to have its own uses after all. Hahaha. It seems that you ate becoming one of us, Your Majesty. How does it feel right now?" Priest Earl lightly gripped my forearm as he and the rest acknowledged me to be sort of one of them already. Although it felt weird to be considered as one of their peers, somehow I felt good inside. I haven't known or realised that any of our relatives who was known as a wizard or a sorcerer at present but maybe Eagle had an inkling about my family tree since he was attached to the family for quite some time before. Priest Hendry was there and he was excited to know about my abilities to make pills through thought and he was wondering if he could harness my special abilities to make some pills that his wife and daughter were experimenting but failed to make them as a success. "Well... Let's get on with it. No wonder the fireball that came out was not a fireball indeed. It was friendly fire and I wonder what I should call it since it would be a boost for the community especially with the herbalist that would need to make some herbs for the dispensary in the hospital." I suggested as I commanded the furnace to extinguish itself and then I'm back to make the triangular shape with my hands as I sat cross-legged in front of Priestess Farah who was sitting in the same position some distance away. "Fireball... Fireball... Fireball... Let the next one be a fireball." I muttered softly to myself as everyone watches. Heather was clutching to Priestess Penelope's arms and she grimaced as the long fingernails dug deep into the skin. Well, I guess anyone who was close to Heather had to bear the brunt of her excitement. Hahaha...! As soon as I formed the triangle with my hands and concentrated the flame inside my mind, the tiny flame came back and slowly swirled around within the space of the triangular. It swirled faster each time and the intensity of the ball of flames increased significantly. Its colour intensified and soon it was a glowing red ball that was spinning within the circle of the triangular formed by my hands. "Catch this, Farah...!" I called out and I pushed my hands out slightly and then the fireball somehow leapt out with such force that I felt that the whole place verberated with its flight. "WOAH...!" the moment the fireball left my hands, it enlarged and almost engulfed Priestess Farah who thought that the fireball would be the same size when it left the triangular space of my hands. Little did she expected that it was nearly the size of a blown-up pig's bladder...! =*= Dear friends and fans, If you discover any grammatical errors along the way, we would appreciate if you would be able to point them out as part of helping us to keep this novel as perfect as possible.
