Dear Journal,
It’s been a month since Aaron found me and my heart feels like someone smashed it into a billion pieces. Let me go back, when he got back to the room that day, Aiden was chasing me around the suite with a water gun trying to get me. Aaron was mad because he thought his son was being too active given his condition, and I think he got more upset when I told him that I had healed Aiden’s heart on the first day. He took him to the local hospital to have him checked since until he hits 13 a wolf is basically human. Once the doctors there told him that there nothing wrong with him and all his scans showed him to be a perfectly healthy 5 ½-year-old boy, Aaron breathed a sigh of relieve. It was like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders and he could let his son play with other pups his age without fear that he would have a heart attack and die.
After we got back, yes he made me go with him, he had his Beta come and take Aiden to the indoor pool so that we could talk in private. It would seem that Lydia had figured out who Aaron was to me and passed that knowledge nugget to my super overprotective big brother, Chris, who then told Mom and Dad. When Mom used her gift to confirm the mate bond between us, Dad decided to have the “talk” with Aaron over lunch. Dad told him what all his responsibilities would be as my mate and future Alpha King of all Lycans, which since he hadn’t decided whether to accept me or not really freaked Aaron out. Thanks, Dad – NOT!! Aaron showing back at noon to the room and said they were heading back to his pack right now. He took my business cards with my cell phone number added on the back and told me that he would let me know his decision as soon as he made it. I could feel his pain and confusion on what was going on and the thoughts racing through his mind at that moment. I sighed sadly before giving him the information that if he wished this all to go away and everything to return to what it was before meeting me, except Aiden would still be healed, it could be wiped from their minds. My mom was willing to remove all memories that either of them had from the point of meeting me, especially for Aiden since he had become very fond of me so quickly. He looked torn as he told me he would consider that as an option since his son hadn’t really known the love of a mother because he was so young when his Mama was killed. My wolf and Lycan were both howling painfully as he grabbed their bags and walked out of the room without looking back.
After he went back to his pack my Mom and I had a very long talk about what happened and I know that she and the others in my family were taking peeks into his mind occasionally to see which way he was leaning about us. He sent me one text message a full two weeks later to let me know he still hadn’t made up his mind and was still debating what was best for him, Aiden and his pack. I responded that if his heart was still the property of his first love and mate to let me know. I didn’t tell him that I could bring her back to life, but if he chooses her over me, I will. I just want to heal the pain that is in his heart and make him whole once more. If that means reviving her and destroying my heart then so be it. After another agonizing 2 weeks, I took time off work to fly to Grandpa’s pack, Night Howlers. I needed to spend some time with him because he’s the only one I know of who has dealt with a broken heart and since he had one for over 3 decades I thought it would be best to get his advice on the matter. Mom had given him the head’s up I was flying my plane in and Sammie took over my duties at the hotel while I was gone.
As soon as I saw my Grandpa, I fell into his arms and wept my heart out. Luckily, we were in the private area of the Palace and no one was around to see their future Alpha Queen losing her composure like that. Grandma was there standing next to us and she rubbed my back gently as I clung to Grandpa’s chest, his arms wrapped tightly around me supporting my weight until my tears began to subside. We moved to sit on the couch and they put me between them as I finally began to get my control back. I opened the secret place in my mind to them both so they would see everything I had hidden from Mom and the rest of the family.
