Dear Journal,
So, Dad let me go back to work and I have been back on the job for almost 3 months now. The pack members are still watching me like a hawk to make sure I don’t overextend myself as I did in the past. Today was crazy busy at the hotel. Dad decided to flex his Alpha muscle, as leader of Full Moon and 2nd chair to Grandpa on the Lycan High Council, by calling every available Alpha from the smallest to biggest packs of regular wolves to a special conference. This is happening at this hotel since so many workers are from Full Moon and are Lycans, we are better suited to handle regular wolves than a human-operated hotel. So, I have been running around making sure that the main conference rooms are ready and set up the way Dad wants, making sure the restaurants in the hotel have ordered enough varieties of meats to satisfy the dietary needs of so many males and making sure that all the rooms are ready for the onslaught of men coming to stay for the next week.
Lydia, my front desk clerk, told me that housekeeping was falling behind already on the 2nd day of the conference. She said she keeps getting calls from room 1590 asking for more blankets, pillows, and towels, but it’s strange and by that, she means that the voice doesn’t sound quite right. She linked me the memory of the calls and I laughed saying it sounds like Simon when he is trying to pretend to be Dad and use his “Alpha” voice. I told her I would handle it personally and headed to the housekeeping area to grab a couple of blankets, towels, and pillows to take to room 1590. After I reached the door, I knocked and could hear his thoughts through it as he debated how to get his much-needed items without opening the door to a stranger. Once I told him I had everything he had requested, he took a chance and let me in. Oh, My Goddess, he’s so cute. I walked inside to put the items down and saw he was trying to make a pillow/blanket fort. So, I offered him my assistance as an expert fort maker. His little eyes lit up like a Christmas tree at the suggestion and he nodded his head so vigorously, I was afraid he was gonna get whiplash. Oh lord, Journal, I think I’m in love. I introduce myself to this little heartbreaker and he tells me his name is Aiden Salvers. I quickly started to remove the fort he had started and mind linked with Chris and Jared, since they used to make these every week when they were younger, in fact, I swear they made one with Simon just last week on the DL since Mom hated having to wash all the bedding each time they did it. They tended to have food fights inside once they had it all set up, luckily Simon just wanted somewhere to hide and read quietly. Anyway, they were happy to give me pointers and soon we, the pup and I, have created the Taj Mahal of blanket forts with pillows and towels inside to lay on for added comfort. Looking at the time, I ask him if his parents are coming up to take him to lunch and he started crying. I scooped him up and held him close until his sobs stopped, then I took him to the countersink outside the bathroom to clean up his face. I wet a washcloth and use it to get the tears and snot off his little cheeks and nose. In doing so, I moved closer to the closet area and Lynn caught the scent of the smell from the suits inside making her go crazy. “MATE” she and 2.0 yelled, in stereo, in my head as we took another deep inhalation of that wonderful smell coming from his clothes. I quickly masked my own scent to keep from spreading it any further through his room, despite their howls of anger at my choice to do so.
I took Aiden back to our fort and asked him why he was sad. He told me his Daddy, Aaron, was too busy to come up and have lunch with him today. I linked with Lydia to have her send up some chicken tenders, cheeseburgers with fries and some apple juice. She linked back to say it would be there in 20 minutes. I told her to make sure they added a couple of oatmeal cookies after peaking in his mind to find out what kind were his favorite. While we wait for his lunch to come, I gently probe further into his mind without him even knowing I’m there. Since his Daddy is my mate, I need to know what happened to his Mama. I want to know how long she has been gone and how she died, which was by a rogue attack about 3 ½ years ago when Aiden was 2. The knock at the door means lunch is there so I went and got it from Fritz and thanked him. While Aiden ate, I took time to really look around the room and saw that there wasn’t much there to keep a 5 year old busy. I asked him why he isn’t down with the rest of the kids in the play area we set up for them, and his answer breaks my heart. His Daddy said he has to stay up here because it’s too dangerous for him to run and play like other kids. So, he obeys his Daddy and sits in this room watching TV or reading quietly. I linked to Lydia again and told her that I would be here and if anything major came up to link or call me, also to let me know when the conference ended for the day.
After Aiden finished eating, I asked him why it would be dangerous for him to play with other children and he told me about his weak heart. See since he didn’t have a wolf to heal him yet regular issues could happen and for him, the issue was as he got older his heart got weaker. He told me about how he would hear his Daddy crying after the doctors told him it would only be a few more months until he got to see his Mommy again. I sat back on the bed and braced up against the headboard and asked Aiden to sit on my lap so we could watch SpongeBob together. He happily climbed into my arms and promptly fell asleep since his energy level was so low due to his illness. I knew what I had to do. There was no way on this planet I was going to let Aiden or Aaron face another death. I laid Aiden on the bed and duel shifted until I was in Lycan form, then I took him back in my arms and used my abilities to heal his young heart from the inside out. Yes, it took a lot out of me since I haven’t mated with his Daddy or been able to be marked by him yet, but there was no way I was walking out of that room leaving Aiden in his condition when I could cure him. After an hour, I was done and Lydia linked me to say the conference was over for the day, so I laid Aiden back on the bed and shifted back to human. I gently covered his little body and headed out the door, making my way to the stairs just as the elevator opened and Aaron’s musk hit my nose. Unable to resist I peeked over my shoulder at the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen opening room 1590. Since I masked my scent after being in the room a bit, I hope he doesn’t smell me in there.
