Everyone did well on the exams. I got first place, Cadmael got second and Diana got third. I was especially proud of beating the two leads and at the same time was proud of them for being in the top three. Alphonse got a pass mark which was all he wanted and Gilbert had surprisingly good marks thanks to all of Andrew's help.
Seeing this we decided to get some dinner to celebrate the end of the year and even invited Andrew in the heat of the moment. We went to the most expensive restaurant we could find on such short notice and couldn't stop laughing like children who were doing something bad and enjoying it fully.
Once we got our drinks Diana raised hers before saying:
"I propose a toast to our major of promotion! He never got less than first place and I wish that he never will in the future."
I felt really touched and uncomfortable at the same time. Everyone looked at me and complimented me before drinking. Then I quickly raised my glass too:
"Let's not forget everyone else. You all did so well on your exams and I am very proud of your results. Cadmael got second place."
Everyone cheered before drinking:
"Diana got third."
Another drink. Before I could finish my glass, Cadmael grabbed my wrist and looked me deep in the eyes as if wanting to make sure I was okay. I nodded and he let me go.
"Gilbert got amazing marks especially in biology."
Everyone refilled their glass, Andrew being the proudest of them all.
"Alphonse got his year too and got sixth place in math."
We didn't stop drinking and Gilbert was the first to notice it:
"Eschyle do you want to get us drunk?"
I laughed starting to see double. Cadmael immediately noticed that I wasn't fine and took my glass in silence. Seeing him do so irritated Diana:
"Give him his glass back. Eschyle is a grown adult. If he wants to drink then he can do whatever he wants."
Cadmael didn't seem to agree:
"He had way too much. He never drank more than two glasses before.
-He is having fun. If he isn't feeling well, then I'll take care of him. Until then let him do as he wishes.
-I'll be the one to take care of him."
I punched the table and everyone jumped. I couldn't feel my hands but judging by the sound it should have hurt:
"I don't need anyone to take care of me."
I pointed at Cadmael with a frown:
"He is the little child I raised. He was so weak just a few months ago and now he is all grown up."
Tears started flowing out of my eyes and I looked at my cheeks completely at a loss just like everyone else for that matter:
"Why are my eyes drowning?"
Cadmael raised his hand and gently rubbed my cheeks:
"Are you sad that I grew up?"
I cried even more and started punching Camdael's torso with all my might:
"You can't grow up. You were so cute when you followed me everywhere but what will I do if you are not a little duck anymore."
I cried so much that I didn't even know what I was saying:
"You can't leave me. You are my little duck."
In the distance I could hear someone laughing. I couldn't know but it was Gilbert. He was really satisfied by the turn of events and couldn't hold back. Fortunately, Andrew did his best to silence him while making sure that Gilbert wouldn't get hurt, of course. Diana and Alphonse on the other hand had eyes huge as turtles. They couldn't take their eyes off me while having no idea what was going on.
Cadmael didn't look away either. He smiled really patiently and continued wiping my tears with his palms.
"I won't leave you. I am all yours.
-Yes you are mine.
-Say it again.
-You are only mine."
Gilbert finally managed to set himself free and coughed:
"I feel like this is not for us to hear. I think I'll get going."
Andrew immediately jumped up:
"I'll take you home.
-Why? Are you all mine too?
-Of course."
Gilbert couldn't stop laughing. He visibly didn't get that Andrew wasn't joking. Alphonse was the next one to get up while Diana shook her head:
"We can't leave him like this. I'll help get him home.
-I thought he was a grown adult and could have fun."
Diana frowned, her eyes ice cold:
"I never said I would leave him alone in this state. How could I trust that you won't do anything strange to him?"
Cadmael raised his eyebrows.
"Strange? Are you talking about forcing myself on him?"
Diana's cheeks reddened in anger.
"Don't worry I wouldn't do anything against his will. I will wait for him to beg me and then I'll give him everything he wants.
-Cadmael! You are talking about my fiancé!
-Did he really want this mariage?
-He never said anything against it."
For the first time, Cadmael's smile faltered which made Diana smile:
"You and him may be friends but we are going to get married and there is nothing you could do against it. You better give up."
As soon as I heard that, I suddenly woke up from the table and hugged Cadmael:
"No! You can't give up!"
Everyone froze in surprise but soon Cadmael had a huge smile both ecstatic and evil. He started rubbing my hair with an air of victory:
"I won't give up. I'll break you two up."
I nodded frantically.
"I can't marry your wife. You will kill me."
No one spoke for a few seconds. Cadmael slowly looked at Diana and they both made a disgusted face before looking away.
"I won't marry Diana.
-You will, you love her."
Cadmael quickly shook his head:
"I don't!"
Diana shrugged as if to say that she knew already. Alphonse was becoming one with the air and didn't dare move in fear of getting sucked into the discussion. Cadmael slowly lifted my head:
"Eschyle, I love no one else.
-Yes you do.
-No I don't.
-Yes you do."
Cadmael signed. Diana saw that I wouldn't give up and shrugged again:
"We should get him home. He doesn't listen to anything we say anymore."
Cadmael nodded and without hesitating he put a hand under my knees, another one behind my back and carried me bridal style. I started laughing and put my hands around Cadmael's neck grabbing onto him tightly.
Diana still didn't seem convinced with Cadmael taking me home but as soon as she got too close to me, a black aura appeared around Cadmael's body. Diana backed away a few steps never having seen such magic before:
"If you touch him, you are dead."
Diana was so surprised that she didn't move for a second. Cadmael took advantage of this and left the restaurant with me in his arms. When I heard him threaten Diana I started pinching his shoulder:
"You can't kill people, silly. She is your wife, you have to be nice to her."
Cadmael didn't respond and only raised me higher in his arms which made me laugh. I continued laughing for a long time.
"What is so funny?
-I'm light."
Cadmael smiled.
"You are always light. I should fatten you up in the future.
-No! I won't get fat.
-Why not? You would be adorable.
-I don't want to."
I started crying and for some reason this made Cadmael laugh. I had never heard such a clear sound before and rested my head in the hollow of his neck.
"You smell nice."
Cadmael hugged me even closer:
"I like it when you are this honest.
-I am always honest.
-No. You never tell me what you think. You think that it doesn't show but I can see right through you. I like hearing you say whatever you want. You don't have to be so on guard around me.
-I am not. You are my best friend.
-Really?
-Yes. I never had someone be so nice to me. At the beginning I was scared of you but now you are just a huge teddy bear! I want cuddles!"
I moved so much that Cadmael almost dropped me.
"Eschyle. Calm down. I don't want to drop you."
Hearing him talk to me this way made me cry:
"I want cuddles. Why won't you give me cuddles?"
Passerbyes started looking at us and Cadmael rolled his eyes with a smirk:
"I can't hold back if you act this way.
-Don't hold back. I don't want you to hold back.
-You won't walk tomorrow if I don't."
Cadmael promised me that he'll cuddle me at home and I relaxed. I immediately fell asleep and woke up only ten hours later.
