Chapter Twenty-One The last time anyone had seen Linc had been when he'd come out of the barn. Jackson had said he'd seen the man mounted atop Wickham. Scout's heart stopped. Wickham hadn't let a soul mount him since he'd come here. Perhaps Jackson was wrong about which horse Linc had ridden out on. But no. Wickham's stall was empty. There was a saddle missing from the tack wall Linc and his men had organized the other day. "Which way did he go?" Scout demanded. She followed the direction of Jackson's finger.
