Chapter 4

Addison’s POV When I arrived at our home, the feeling of loneliness arose and the silence was very deafening. I could not help myself but to cry the frustrations I felt at the moment. I gradually walked towards our dining and I sat on my chair. I took a deep breath and sigh. I know this is not the first time that I have experienced this kind of situation and I always reminded myself that everything has always reasons why it is happening. However, pain and sadness are inevitable. After a moment of sitting in the dining room, I went upstairs to change my clothes since I am going to cook food for my parents. After I changed my clothes, I got my phone from the table and I dialed the number of my Dad. ‘‘H-Hello Dad? How’s Mom?’’ The first thing I asked as my Dad answered the call. ‘‘Is she fine now?’’ I added. ‘‘Honey, you don’t need to worry that much, okay? Your Mom is already fine—she’s sleeping at the moment,’’ Dad answered. I felt relieved when I heard those words from my Dad. I immediately thank God for hearing my prayer. ‘‘Oh thank you Jesus! I’ll be there to bring our dinner tonight Dad—gonna drop this call ‘cause I am about to start cooking.’’ After hearing the answers of my Dad, I quickly dropped my phone on the table and immediately ran downstairs. I’m about to enter the kitchen when I heard my friends shouting outside looking for me. When I opened the door, I was shocked when I saw Timmy and Annie having a lot of fruits and other foods. I bet they already knew what happened to Mom so I decided to open the door widely and help them to bring all the food inside. I was shocked since they hugged me after putting all the things they bought. No doubt that these friends of mine are worth it. ‘‘Guys, don’t worry I’m fine and I called Dad earlier he told me that Mom is already fine,’’ I confessed. ‘‘We’re so glad that Tita is already fine, how about you? It seems that something happened today on you?’’ Timmy curiously asked—- I think Timmy felt that something really happened to me today maybe because of my posture. ‘‘Agree! Something like, someone r***d you?’’ Annie added while preparing the food that we’re going to eat this time. I did not answer them yet, I am still busy preparing our plates and I know they are looking at me curiously. "Can we have a seat first?" I asked them and they nodded so we decided to sit on our designated chair. "Actually yes, something happened to me this afternoon, a tricycle driver stole my money, luckily he only got my money," I confessed. However, I feel sorry for myself since the money I've got from my work will be utilized for hospital bills that we're going to pay with. "If you're thinking about the expenses in the hospital, don't worry we already paid the bills, right Annie?" Timmy said while plastering his beautiful smile. I took a deep breath—they have been saving me since then and I couldn't help myself but to be ashamed because of the things they always did to me. Nevertheless, I still thank them for being my savior, and the one that calls away friends. After that moment of sentiments, we decided to eat the food they bought for me. I know they are just making me smile because they knew that I was not really fine today—and it is true. After cleaning all the mess on our table, we directly went to the hospital with all the fruits and food they bought. I could not still help myself but still to be petrified even though I already knew that my Mom was already fine. "Girl, you don't need to worry that much! Loot at yourself, you're too pale!" Annie scolded me and for the nth time I took a deep breath. "I am very sorry guys, I couldn't help myself actually." Annie held my hand and looked me in the eye. Her looks showed so much hope—stating that everything will be fine so I nodded at her. While walking towards the room of my Mom, I realized that I have not told them yet that I am going to work. I know this will be a tough situation since I am going to convince them with all my might. I have to convince them since they do not want me to work actually and they always suggest to me that they are going to support me—the perks of being rich. "Hey Dad!" "Hello Tito!" Annie and Timmy greeted Dad. After I kissed Dad I directly went to my Mom who's smiling at the moment. "M-mom? Are you already fine now?" I asked Mommy after I kissed her in the forehead. Annie and Timmy also asked if she is already fine after all. "Kiddos, I'm already fine you don't need to worry that much, okay?" Mom answered. "Thank you Annie and Timmy for paying the expenses here, I owe you twice guys," she added. My friends approached Mom and Annie caressed my Mom's hand. From that I knew already that they are not fake. I am so lucky to have them and I will treasure our friendship forever. "By the way Tita, we have here some fruits for you for your fast-recovery." Timmy puts the fruits on the table beside him including the food for dinner. "Thanks Timmy and Annie for that, I was embarrassed since you guys already shoulder everything," said Dad while preparing my Mom's food. Annie quickly went towards my Dad and she immediately hugged him. Well, it is already normal for Annie to hug my Dad, especially when Annie wants to caress Daddy. "No, Tito it's perfectly fine, your family is our second family right Timmy?" Timmy nodded while smiling. Our conversation continues while Daddy is feeding my Mom. I am so proud of my family even though we faced difficulties we can still manage to smile—that is how resilient we are. We all need that kind of characteristic like we can easily cope up with difficult situations and can manage to smile again. After we ate, we went to the rooftop because I am going to confess to them that I am going to work. "Thank you so much guys for always being there for me always." I am getting emotional at the moment. "I am so grateful to have you guys in my life and I owe this forever until I die," I added. "Why are you so emotional, Addi?" Timmy asked while laughing a little bit—they are not used to this kind of me being emotional. "Nah! After all the things you did, of course I will be so emotional…" I answered gratefully. "By the way I have something to tell you guys…" I added and from the moment they heard it, they quickly seated beside me. "What is it? You already fell for kuya Joshua?" I was choked by my own saliva after hearing the question of Timmy. "No...no… it is not Timmy, listen first okay?" He nodded while Annie was still listening and waiting for my answer. "I am going to work as Yaya(servant) in a rich family," I confessed and they were shocked after hearing those words from me. "Addi, if you're going to work, you can work on our house, I am pretty sure that kuya Joshua will be happy seeing you there everyday!" Timmy reprimanded. "You can also work on our house, Mom and Dad will be happy if you're there also and I am sure that our house will be full of laughter," said Annie. I took a deep breath—I already expected this to happen since I already knew that they wouldn't let me work far from them. Actually, it wasn't that far, you only need 20 minutes to get there. I opened my bag and grabbed the paper that I got earlier. I showed them the family of Mclaine is looking for a person that will take good care of their oldest son which is Sylvester Mclaine—I know this person because their family is very powerful. "Seriously? I know Sylvester that man! Girl! He's so mean!" "Agree!" Annie said. They both knew Sylvester since their family is also into business. I know that they already met Sylvester and I know he's the one I met last week I think when we went to the private church of those rich personalities. "Guys, I already expected this to happen and yeah, my decision is already fixed," I said with full of authority. "I want you guys to support me just this time, I am actually embarrassed with all the things you guys did to my family, and I decided to work on my own to support my family," I explained sincerely. Both of them took a deep breath after hearing my explanation. I know they can't do anything since I'm already committed to work, I know they will support me at all cost. Beside, I am also confident since they already knew the family that I am going to enter with. "I actually choose to work on it since I know you guys can visit there… you know the connection you had from that family." For the second time I heard them sigh. I plastered a smile on my face because I know that I won this time over them. "Thank you so much guys! I do really love you!" I hugged them and we laughed—it feels like we're cute stupid folks. "If ever you will be hired, me and Timmy will be the one who will bring you there okay?" Annie requested and I just nodded since we don't have a car. "Yes girl, and we're going to visit you there frequently. I know that kuya Sylvester will let us visit you without hesitation." I forgot to tell you that Sylvester and Timmy are cousins, that is why the moment I heard it, I already have no doubts that he can go there frequently. After our conversation we decided to go down and go home. I go along with them since Daddy will be the one who will check Mom. "By the way, I will tell kuya Sylvester to hire you right away." Timmy started to break the silence inside the car. "Well, I won't disagree with that, I badly want to have a job with high-salary," I answered. "I will also tell Mom and Dad on that matter, so please relax and don't think too much about it, okay?" Annie said while driving. "Thank you for everything guys!" After that conversation, no one started talking again and I bet we're all tired. It was already past nine when I arrived at home. When I entered our home, the deafening silence made me feel that I am alone and no one is there to save me from drowning. Despite that feeling, I decided to go upstairs and clean myself up. This day seems to be so long and so many things happened and it made me realize that we should always be brave because life is full of uncertainties.
