Chapter 6

Addison’s POV

When we arrived at home, Daddy decided to make a ‘turon’ , a kind of delicacy wrapped with lumpia wrapper and inside it is a banana.  Well, Daddy decided to prepare this since Timmy, Annie and Joshua love it; this is their favorite snack everytime they are here. 

‘‘Honey, can you buy a banana first? I forgot that there are no bananas,’’ Dad said when he came back from the kitchen.  

‘‘I’ll drive you to the market,’’ Joshua suggested. 

‘‘Of course Joshua, you need to accompany him if you want him to be yours,’’ Timmy teased his brother. 

I just laughed even Dad and Annie. When I looked at Joshua he was blushing and he scratched the back of his head.  

‘‘You are cute when you are blushing,’’ I uttered and then Annie shouted as a sign of being fascinated with the scene right now. 

Actually she is a BL fan, that is why she overreacted to what is happening right now. 

‘‘Look Timmy your brother is blushing.’’ Annie laughed as she pointed at Joshua who’s scratching the back of his head again. 

We no longer waited for so many minutes, I grabbed his hand and we went outside directly. When we arrived in front of the car, he opened the door for me. What a gentleman! It was kinda weird looking at him, since he was smiling the whole trip until we arrived at the market. 

‘‘What is wrong with you? Your smile never fades since we travel here.’’ I broke the silence occupying between us right now. 

‘‘Of course I want you and I could not help myself to keep smiling, especially seeing you that gorgeous…’’ he answered. 

I was about to talk when he cutted me down. ‘‘By the way, I’ll be the one who will bring you to the mansion of Sylvester, okay? No more buts,’’ he confidently said. 

‘‘How can I say no on your request if you already requested me not to say no?’’ I slightly laughed at him while saying those words. 

He just laughed at me too so we decided to continue what we want here. I went to Aling Nina, the seller that we always went to, to buy bananas. Aling Nina is very kind, she always gave us discounts on every vegetable and any other ingredients. 

‘‘Is this your boyfriend Addie? He’s handsome…’’ I got shy when Aling Nina asked that question to me. 

‘‘Ah-h….N-n–,’’ I was cutted off by Joshua.

‘‘Y-yes Tita, I am his boyfriend.’’ Then he grabbed my waist and I got doomed. I couldn’t even move my body because of the embarrassment I felt right now. I wish I could disappear into thin air. 

I was speechless because of the things that happened right now. It was Joshua who did all the negotiation, however, I answered whenever there was a question asked by other vendors. 

‘‘Thank you for accompanying me here, this is actually your first time to be here right?’’ I asked him when we were going back to the parking area. 

‘‘Hmm…yeah, actually, I always wanted to be here every time Nanay Felice is going to buy some stocks but you know, Mommy and Daddy don't want me to go along unlike Timmy,’’ he explained. ‘‘I am always fascinated by the story of Jonie every time he goes along with nanay Felice,’’ he added. 

It seems that this man was deprived of his liberty back then, but if you are going to explain his life right now, well he is very outgoing and he can do whatever he wants to do. The same goes with Timmy—still, Tita and Tito are kind and accommodating. 

We continued talking until we got home. When we arrived, the food for lunch was already prepared and we were lucky to arrive on time. Our conversation continued and the whole lunch was full of laughter because of Timmy and Annie, they are both hilarious. 

After that, Timmy volunteered to wash the dishes, meanwhile, I went upstairs to prepare the things that I need to bring later. I did not prepare it last night, ‘cause I know I don’t need to bring a lot of clothes. When I was packing my personal stuff, someone knocked on the door. Before I opened the door, I fixed myself first in front of the mirror. 

‘I am very sorry Mom for letting you wait for so long before I opened the door,’’ I apologized. 

I opened the door wide and I let my Mom go inside. ‘‘What brought you here my lovely Mother?’’ I asked her when already seated at my study table. 

‘‘I am just here to check on you, ‘cause I know I won’t see you for almost a month,’’ she said very sadly. 

I slowly walked towards her, and after that I hugged her directly. ‘‘I am gonna miss you Mom… I’ll promise to spoil you after I get my first salary,’’ I bragged. 

Way back then, I always promised myself that if I got a good job, I would spoil my parents and it would happen soon. 

"If ever someone will hurt you and they won't treat you right, don't hesitate to call us, okay?" Mom told me. 

For the second time, I hugged her but this time, it was tight.  

"Can I join?" 

It was Dad, so we openly widened our hands and let Daddy hug us. It was a very memorable moment, I hope life is like this forever but it wasn't

. 

"Always remember that we are here for you Honey…" Daddy kissed my forehead and hugged me for the last time. 

After that, we went downstairs together and we watched a noontime show and it was very fun because of Vice Ganda. One of the famous celebrities here in the Philippines. 

Almost two hours of rest, it's already four in the afternoon and I need to be there. I don't want to be late since it will be the first day of my work. Through the help of my friends and parents, I am already settled and ready to go. 

"I think your request won't be granted," I said to Joshua, after putting my things inside his car. 

"Nah, don't worry, as long as I am driving you there it's totally fine," he answered. "As long as I am with you, I'm okay with it," he added. 

Well, he got me this time by his words. I am really sure that I am blushing at the moment.

"You look like a tomato," he said while laughing.

"Tsk!" I went inside the car after he opened the door. 

We waited for my parents and afterward, we continued traveling towards the place of Mclaine Mansion. 

"You still have time to change your decision, Addie." Timmy started the conversation. 

I took a deep breath. I know it is really hard to be away from your loved ones and friends but for the betterment of your future you need to ease the loneliness.

"I've already told you guys that I need to do it, I want to learn to become independent, it seems that I am always depending on you," I drawled. "I never thought that I'll be in this kind of situation, I never expected this before, I mean, I always dreamt of working in an office but it is okay, it is the salary that I am after with," I jabbered. 

"I am so proud of you my friend! I am envious of you because you can really experience difficulties," Timmy complimented. 

"Same here, how I wish, but it is okay, if you need help Addie, don't hesitate to call us directly right Timmy?" Timmy nodded his head and I just smiled at them.

I mouthed thank you to them, and brought my attention back in front. After a couple of minutes, Joshua broke the silence. 

"Just tell me if Sylvester hits you, okay? I know that Man! He has an anger issue," he told me. "I will also tell Jeryl to check on you," he added. 

"Why so protective of Addie, my dear Brother?" It was Timmy who teased his brother, Joshua. 

"Did you listen, Bunny?" he sermonized. 

I just nodded at him, and he smiled at me. After that moment no one ever tried to talk again until we arrived at Mclaine's Mansion. 

There are some nice homes out there. You’ve likely seen lavish properties dripping with luxurious amenities, whether it’s down the street or on TV. But, while these homes are glamorous, are they technically mansions? However, when we arrived here I was really fascinated by its designs. Imagine, it's only the top part that I can see. 

"Good afternoon sir Joshua!" 

The guard greeted Joshua after seeing him. 

"Good evening, Caloy! I am here to send Addi, the one that will be working here." He pointed at me. 

The guard greeted me and so did I. They continued talking with my constituents meanwhile, I observed the designs of the mansion. Additionally, the mansion  employs exquisite architectural design— an eloquent combination of classical-style, colonial-style, and Victorian-style. 

Its architecture exudes a sense of grandeur with tall ceilings, large windows, and a beautiful facade. In addition to that, I saw extensive gardens, walking paths, water features, and additional garages. It seems that they already occupied a whole village. 

"Hey, are you done checking it?" It was Daddy who asked me.

"Yes Dad, it seems that I will be lost tonight, I hope I won't," I chuckled. 

I couldn't deny that I felt jealous of those rich people like Sylvester for living a luxurious life—how I wish…

We rode on a mini bus going to the main entrance of the mansion, still I am with my parents and friends. When we reached the main entrance of the mansion, my body didn't like to get off the bus. 

Very sophisticated! All the things are very expensive, and you don't need to mess it up I think? Because half of your life would be the compensation of your mistakes if ever you broke one. 

I slowly move my body, and I hold the hand of Joshua 'cause I got anxious right now but manageable.  I saw two people in front of us right now. 

Timmy and Annie directly headed towards the beautiful woman in front of us— I think she's in her mid thirties? 

"Good afternoon Miss Shantal, this is Addie." Joshua introduces me to her. 

My instinct is right that it was Miss Shantal. 

"What a beautiful man! Hello dear, I would like to apologize for calling you so late last night… by the way I am Miss Shantal Cruz." 

"Good afternoon Miss Shantal, no worries and I am Addison Villafuente," I said excitingly despite the anxiousness I felt right now.

"So yeah, you need to bid goodbyes to them, my apologies Honey Annie, for not giving you more time okay since I'll be having an orientation for Addie…" Shantal apologizes. 

"Bitc* gonna miss you! Don't worry the other day I'll visit you here!" I hugged Timmy so tight. 

"Don't forget all the things I have told you okay? I will miss you so much!" Sniveled by Annie. 

I slowly turn my back to my parents. I saw them smiling at me even though I know deep inside they are also sad because this is my first time to be distant on them. 

"Mom and Dad, kindly take good care of yourself okay? I will miss you!" I kissed them and hugged them afterwards. 

For the last time, I took a deep breath before I turned my back to Miss Shantal. 

"Let's go?" Miss Shantal asked. 

I nodded and we went inside.
