Chapter 17: Alive

I was startled when the nurse came rushing towards the hospital room, and when she slammed the door, I was surprised to see the young lady sweating as if she had being in an Olympic race. For a moment, I stared her way, and the next, I was back feeding my eyes on Norman's hard face. My eyes were all swollen, I hated the fact that he had to die, I mean, for once I thought we were meant together, more like the perfect match and stuff like that, but on a second thought, I knew that I was just lying to myself.

Rose who was also in the ward when her colleague rushed into the room now stared at the lady with wide eyes, wanting to know what is wrong with her.

"Is anything the matter, Alice! you looked like you've encountered the shock of your life. If you do not mind telling us, what was that about?" she inquired raising her brows up to the girl.

It took about five seconds for Alice to control her breathe and when she did so, she byrst out faintly,

"It is just the Tanyi's, they got me scared when they bumped into me with more than a million questions," Alice said faintly.

I heard most of what she said, but then, the rest was left for me, as I brushed her aside continuing to cry on Norman's chest. The miracle that happened was incomprehensible, I mean, my head was on Norman's chest when I heard it beating lightly. To me, I though it was just a mild thing, In fact, I did not out my mind on this thing, I mean hearing the man's heart thumping lightly above her chest. To me, it was a dream, but then, I waited to be sure, and just like before, I heard the heartbeat come again.

At this time, I knew that I was not bluffing, in fact, it was more than, a dream, it was a reality. Putting my head up, I checked the screen and behold, I noticed the the waves had started climbing slowly, and it was awkward, in fact, the most important thing to do, and even though that was the case, the smile that broadened my entire face was just one in a kind.

"Rose, I think I am dreaming, huh! Norman is alive," I blurted out in excitement.
