CHAPTER ONE: Carnivore's Appearance
CHARACTERS Runningtrail Cedarflight Molesnout Fernheart Foxteeth [DEPUTY] Smallstar [LEADER] Aldertooth [MEDICINE CAT] Oakfoot Vinefoot Heronback Tallfoot Brambleberry Fireflight Tansyheart Woodeye Carnivore Shadowsplit Dovefur Wolf Gingereyes Pureheart Deepsorrow ————— Runningtrail quicktrotted out from the WindClan's Camp entrance. He was in a hunting patrol with Molesnout and Fernheart. A fresh rabbit's scent was slowly filling in his nostrils. Runningtrail perked up quickly twitching an ear before his head turning to his right. As soon as the rabbit appeared by his view, Runningtrail's claws unsheathed, his pupils sharpening. The ginger-and-cream coloured coat tomcat lowered down, crouching to approach his target. Just before Runningtrail pounce on the targeted prey, he was rudely interrupted by Cedarflight pouncing on him, ambushing his kin. Rolling over and rolling over on the ground of the moorland. Just before they break it, Cedarflight managed to claw Runningtrail's pelt with a loud screech. They both backed up. Bloods roaming down, from his pelt to the grasses. "Cedarflight!" Runningtrail's tone was quite the stutter. He took a breath before going on. "What in the StarClan's name are you thinking you're doing!?" He let out a loud yowl before shuffling his paws. Cedarflight tsk with a sinister grin. "This is the time, Runningtrail, where you finally die!" He shouted, his voice was an echo. Without warnings, he charged forward and pushed down Runningtrail, slamming his paws to his chest, along with Runningtrail's head. With a yowl of pain coming from Runningtrail, he stretched out his claws and digged through Cedarflight's shoulder, half of his large and sharp claws sinking in. With a flinch, Cedarflight parted his jaws to release a loud scream. Before he jump off, he managed to torn one of Runningtrail's ear. He leaped back, shaking his head in pain. Just before Runningtrail fight back to pounce on Cedarflight, pawsteps came from their behind. "Runningtrail? Cedarflight!?" Molesnout wrinkle her nose. The brown-and-cream coloured shecat slipped a hiss coming from her mouth to the two tomcats. Runningtrail and Cedarflight's glance sudden goes to Molesnout, side-eyeing the newcomer. "Molesnout?" Runningtrail perked up, his heart racing. He glared at Molesnout with a soft spot, eyes gleaming and softened. "What are you two doing!?" Molesnout hisses. "Runningtrail, aren't you supposed to be in hunting patrol? I thought Foxteeth has announced you to it! Why are you handling with this foxdung?" The shecat's eyes glanced to Cedarflight with hatred gleaming in her orbs. She gave a slight growl to Cedarflight. Even though he was her Clanmate, but Cedarflight was found to be Molesnout's biggest enemy. Runningtrail faced Molesnout. "No, he started—" "I will tell Smallstar about this that you both are fighting!" Molesnout interrupted Runningtrail, turning her head turned to Cedarflight. "Even though we're enemies, at least I don't fight." The shecat murmured, then turning to retreat through the long grasses and returns to Smallstar. Runningtrail rolled a loud growl through his throat. "This is your fault! Now we are getting in trouble!" He stomped a paw forward, hissing at Cedarflight. The other tomcat just gave a quick shrug and a curled lip. Without hesitation, he turned to return to WindClan's campus, leaving Runningtrail injured behind. After Runningtrail reached the WindClan's camp, Molesnout ended up with Smallstar along with Foxteeth beside the WindClan's leader. The shecat just gave a simple nod as a greeting. "Smallstar," she starts. Smallstar perked up, staring at Molesnout. The gray furred shecat tilted her head before dipping her cranium. "Molesnout." She greeted back with a soft smile across her maw. "I have something to report," Molesnout glanced back to Smallstar before her eyes shifting to Foxteeth. "—about Cedarflight and Runningtrail." Smallstar adjusted her posture, straightening her sit. "Go on." She waited. Cedarflight and Runningtrail had been problematic since they were kits! The leader could expect what Molesnout will reports. "After Foxteeth had send Runningtrail, Fernheart and I to the hunting patrol, I have suspected Runningtrail and Cedarflight was hurting each other with wounds. Are you going to do anything, Smallstar? Or perhaps you, Foxteeth." Molesnout swallowed, ruffling her pelt as she looked at Smallstar. "I will try to do something, Molesnout. Thank you for this report." Smallstar gave a purr before nodding her head. Molesnout dipped her head before trotting back to the warriors den, leaving Smallstar and Foxteeth behind her trail. Smallstar released a disappointment sigh then glancing to Foxteeth. "What should we do? Cedarflight and Runningtrail had broke a code last few moons. Should we let them have another chance again?" She questioned to Foxteeth with her eyes gleaming in worry. WindClan was in less of warriors, but there was a plenty of apprentice that's having their warrior ceremony. But it's the best if the two senior warriors stays. Foxteeth silently shake his head. "I'm afraid not, Smallstar. StarClan will be mad at us if we hold a code-breaker upon WindClan. It's the best for us to at least exile or seperate them. If you ask me, I would choose exilation." The WindClan's deputy straighten his posture, shuffling his tail on his paws. Smallstar tucked up her tail. "I will try my best. Their exilation ceremony will be at this dawn, please get the apprentices ready for their twelfth-moons-old ceremony." She raises up from her haunches before trotting away to her medicine cat. Runningtrail quicktrotted to the middle of the clearing. Cats sharing-tongues, sharing preys, the noises, it makes him goes insane. He looked out for the medicine den to recover from the injuries Cedarflight had caused. He arrived at the den's entrance, only to notice Smallstar, Cedarflight and Aldertooth. He perked up, pupils sharpening at a glance to Cedarflight, his kin. He shows no hostility, especially in front of the majors. He just slowly and silently approaches Aldertooth. "Aldertooth," He called out. "I need some—recovery. I got a large scar on my pelt and my ear is torned. Can you help me?" Aldertooth did a slow and gentle nod. "Of course. Just sit there on the bed." He demands, pointing a paw to one of the mossbed. Runningtrail made his way to the mossbed slowly in a weak body, then dropping himself down, fitting him in the bed. Aldertooth glanced at Cedarflight. "You too, Cedarflight." He blinked for a few heartbeats before returning his glance at Smallstar. Smallstar just gave a gentle, weak and nervous nod to Aldertooth. "Well," The leader began. "I need to talk to you, Aldertooth." She demands, her tone was quite the nervous one. "Is it about them again?" Aldertooth's words was a loud whisper. He squint his eyes, staring at Smallstar. Smallstar did a quiet nod as a reply to Aldertooth. The WindClan's medicine cat perked up before nodding briefly. He returned to Cedarflight and Runningtrail. "So," Aldertooth began. "Tell me what wounds you have, Cedarflight." He sniffed, taking a closer look at Cedarflight. "Just a deep scratch at my shoulder." Answered Cedarflight, ruffling up his pelt before shuffling his tail to his own haunches. Aldertooth blinked for a few times. "Wait here. I'll grab some herbs." He swallowed before making his way to the medicine cat's shelf. He reached his paw to the upper shelf to snatch two goosegrasses and a few docks, then returning to the senior warriors. He chewed the herbs and soothes them on their wounds first using the goosegrasses to stop bleeding. After, he chew the docks then soothes the poultice to their wounds. He returned back to the shelf and snatch cobwebs, bandaging them to Cedarflight and Runningtrail's wounds. "The goosegrass will make your wounds less pain. Wait here until I call you further away." Aldertooth demands, returning to Smallstar near the den's entrance. Aldertooth lowered his haunches. "What happened between them?" His words was a whisper to Smallstar. He kept this speech as a privacy. "They have again broken a code. Foxteeth and I was thinking if we should exile them later at dawn." Smallstar mentioned the WindClan's medicine cat with a loud whisper. "He said that StarClan would be mad if we hold a code-breaker upon WindClan." She went on. Aldertooth perked up. "Foxteeth is correct. We can't hold a code-breaker upon our Clan. Exilation is the only way to get rid of them without any harm." He nodded briefly, straightening his sit. "Well then, it's almost dawn. Let's do this ceremony a bit earlier." Smallstar raises to her paws, nodding briefly to Aldertooth. "Bring Cedarflight and Runningtrail to the middle of the camp. They're needed." She turned, returning to her previous trail, making her way to the Tallrock. Aldertooth released a sigh of disappointment. He turned to face Cedarflight and Runningtrail. "Cedarflight, Runningtrail, follow me." The medicine cat commands, waiting for the two warriors to follow him. They both stood up, starting to trot forwards to Aldertooth, following the medicine cat's trail, exiting the medicine den. as soon as they left the den, Smallstar yowls: "Let all cats old enough to run on the moorland, join here beneath the Tallrock for a meeting!" Her voice was an echo that can be heard around the WindClan's camp. The members started to gather beneath and around the Tallrock, eyes staring at Smallstar. "We have a few of our apprentices reaching the twelfth moons. I wish Oakpaw, Heronpaw, Bramblepaw, Tansypaw and Woodpaw to step forth beneath me." Smallstar commands, her tail shifting to her paws as she waited for the youngsters to follow her demands. The five apprentices pranced forward, excited for their new suffix. They all sat down near the Tallrock and beneath Smallstar, waiting for her next announce. Her eyes shifted to Oakpaw. "Oakpaw, you have trained hard under Vinefoot's practice. I, Smallstar, leader of WindClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Oakpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" questioned Smallstar, glaring at the soon-to-be warrior. Oakpaw raises her head and nodded briefly. "I do!" She meowed in an excited tone. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Oakpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Oakfoot. StarClan honors your virtues, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." Smallstar raised a bright smile across her maw, perking up. Oakfoot perked up and raised to her brown paws. She turned, approaching her former mentor. Smallstar's eyes glanced to Heronpaw next. "Heronpaw, you have trained hard under Tallfoot's practice. I, Smallstar, leader of WindClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Heronpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" The questions was the same as Oakpaw's announcement. Heronpaw did a brief nod. "I do." Smallstar cleared her throat. She have to do this over and over again. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Heronpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Heronback. StarClan honors your virtues, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." Heronback—what a unique name. The white pelted tomcat stepped back, his eyes remaining to Bramblepaw. He would be the next one. "Bramblepaw, you have trained hard under Fireflight's practice. I, Smallstar, leader of WindClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Bramblepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Smallstar cleared her throat, saying the same words over and over again. Bramblepaw did a slow and weak nod. "I do." His words was rather a mutter, but some how Smallstar didn't mind it. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Bramblepaw, from this moment on you will be known as Brambleberry. StarClan honors your virtues, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." Smallstar was impatient. How long will this takes?—Smallstar ruffled her pelt. Brambleberry—beautiful name for a beautiful tomcat. He walked back to Heronback. "Tansypaw, you have trained hard under Cedarflight's practice. I, Smallstar, leader of WindClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Tansypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" She questioned again. Tansypaw was excited! Cedarflight was a great mentor. "I do!" She answered cheerfully. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Tansypaw, from this moment on you will be known as Tansyheart. StarClan honors your virtues, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." What should she say now? She've been doing this over and over again! Last one, last one. — Smallstar thought. Tansyheart raises from her mittens. Where was Cedarflight? "Woodpaw, you have trained hard under Runningtrail's practice. I, Smallstar, leader of WindClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Woodpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Smallstar shuffled her paws. "I do, I do!" He meowed cheerfully. He have waited this ceremony for a long time! He bet Runningtrail will be proud. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Woodpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Woodeye. StarClan honors your virtues, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." Finally!—Smallstar swayed her tail across the tall boulder. Woodeye pranced to Oakfoot with a cheerfull smile across his maw. "For our next announcement," Smallstar finally began. "Cedarflight and Runningtrail, please step forth beneath the Tallrock and myself." She demands, her tone suddenly became stern. Runningtrail and Cedarflight step forward. Why are we stepping up?—thought Runningtrail with a confused face, eyes glaring at Smallstar. "This is probably of that mousedung's report." Cedarflight whispered about Molesnout. He expected what they both are walking into. "Cedarflight and Runningtrail!" She yowled. "You two are a disgrace! You have disappointed me and StarClan themselves. We wouldn't hold a code-breaker upon WindClan!" Smallstar raises from her haunches and release a snarl, wrinkling her nose. "I cannot be seen with a code-breaker. From this moment on, you two will be permanently exiled from WindClan and will never enter our territory again!" She stomped a paw forward, showing no mercy to the two warriors. Smallstar's hostility made the two senior warriors shocked. "If my Clan suspects any of you two again, I am not afraid to command them to destroy you." She threatened the two warriors. Cedarflight raises to his paws. "No! You can't do that. We're Clanborn! This is where we borned, where we belong and where we lives!" He stomped a paw, baring his teeths to show hostility towards the WindClan's leader. The scene made WindClan in sudden shock.. Cedarflight and Runningtrail's apprentices; Tansyheart and Woodeye, raises from their foots and expose themselves althrough the crowded area. "What? Please don't exile them, Smallstar!" Begged Tansyheart. How she cared for her former mentor.. Cedarflight had trained Tansyheart since Cedarflight was 20 moons; a young warrior! She can't lose Cedarflight. Smallstar ignored the young warrior's beg. "Leave now!" The WindClan's leader points a paw to the WindClan's exit, yowling to the two exiled members to leave their home. Runningtrail wrinkled his nose in anger. He and Cedarflight both made their way out of the Camp, leaving their former Clanmates behind. Runningtrail and Cedarflight's exilation made Woodeye and Tansyheart in sorrow and saddened. Their former mentor had left this Clan without them seeing their apprentices' new suffix. Next time, maybe. After Smallstar have seen Cedarflight and Runningtrail left, she took a breath. "Dismissed! Fireflight and Vinefoot, go and make sure Runningtrail and Cedarflight have left our border." Smallstar finished with a demand to the two warriors, raising her chin. Fireflight and Vinefoot raise up from their haunches. "Will do." That was a mutter from Vinefoot. They both trot out from the Camp. Cedarflight and Runningtrail quick trotted and left the WindClan's border. "I hate you, mousebrain! Why did you attacked me in the middle of the territory? Can you use that small brain of yours for once!" Runningtrail groaned loudly in rage, threatening his brother. Cedarflight slipped a hiss to Runningtrail. "Shut up!" He insisted, swaying his tail across the ground. Now, they arrived at the barn. Where they now should be used. Runningtrail showed hatred to Cedarflight and Cedarflight showed hatred to Runningtrail. Suddenly, a burned tomcat with half of gray furs, leapt in front of them two; Carnivore. The name may seems hostile, but not like he is. "Got exiled?" He held a chuckle. Runningtrail flinched. "What? Do we know you?" He furrowed his brows, shuffling his paws and his claws were ready. "I'm Carnivore, I live around here." He raises a sinister grin. "I'll show you around. No shy, no problem." He joked, laughing. Cedarflight furrowed his brows. What's wrong with this cat?—he thought, a bit annoyed. The three tomcat entered the barn.. the barn wasn't what Runningtrail and Cedarflight expect; they expected it would be quiet and left abandoned. What they both saw.. was the inside that was filled with a lot of former Clancats sharing tongues, battle practice and youngsters playing! Some are Clanborns and some are lonerborns.. or some are former streetcats! Runningtrail and Cedarflight's eyes widened open and observed the large place with a lot of spaces. Crates, boxes, logs and more. "Woah," Runningtrail said in awe, eyes gleaming. "There's.. many of cats here." He looked around, staring at each of the cats. Carnivore swayed his tail across the wooden ground. "Indeed! We have gathered felines from the unclaimed lands to fulfill this barn. They won't be alone." He briefly raises a brow with a grin, glancing at Runningtrail then to Cedarflight. "Who are you two?" He had introduced himself, now it's Cedarflight and Runningtrail's turn. "I'm Cedarflight, this is my brother, Runningtrail, a mousebrain one." He gave Runningtrail a side-eye glance to him with a weak and awkward grin. "Says the one that attacked me in the middle of the territory!" Runningtrail hisses, wrinkling his nose as he stared at Cedarflight with anger. Cedarflight just gave a quick of his brows furrows before his eyes returning to Carnivore. The half-burned tomcat held a chuckle. This two former WindClan warriors are indeed funnny. "That's Shadowsplit. He used to be a ShadowClanner, then got exiled of unknown reason. He was then got accepted in ThunderClan, again got exiled of unknown reason! He's a former ShadowClan cat and a former ThunderClan cat. Pity for that tomcat." Carnivore gave a brief shake if his head before facing a beautiful white-pelted shecat. "That's Dovefur. She's the most well-liked in this barn. Tomcats are so addicted to her; which is Deepsorrow," His glance goes to the dark-pelted tomcat. "and Pureheart." his eyes shifted to the Sphinx breeded cat. Cedarflight's eyes gleamed. That was a beautiful shecat.. her white pelt fluffing and was clean. Dovefur, Cedarflight's kind. He just gave a stare at the shecat from afar. Carnivore cleared his throat. "I'll introduce more of them so soon. I need to go and tell more about you two." He trotted forward into the barn and climbed on a crate, his eyes staring at the clearing. He inhaled, "Cats of the barn! Please gather and hear my words." He yowl, his voice was an echo that can be heard in the barn. He awaited for the barn cats to gather around and beneath the crate he was standing on. Carnivore cleared his throat. "We have two new former Clan warriors," His head faced Cedarflight and Runningtrail, paw pointing to them. "Cedarflight and Runningtrail. I hope you all can get along with them, because they are exiled, too. Do not be afraid to show them around and teach them new things." Carnivore raises a smile. "Dismiss!" He finished. Cedarflight and Runningtrail stood there, awkwardly, they both just stared around, until a gray-furred tomcat with wolf-like quills; Wolf, approaching the two. "Hello there." He greeted, sitting down in-front of the two. They both were familiar. Are they what he thought of? "Are you perhaps Cedarkit and Runningkit?" Cedarflight tsk. "It's flight for the suffix." He corrected the gray tomcat. Runningtrail blinked for a few heartbeats. "And mine is trail." He cleared his throat. How did this tomcat knows our prefix? Wolf chuckled. "Ah yes, Cedarflight and Runningtrail," He forgot what Carnivore had said. "Is your father Gingereyes?" Wolf questioned, arching a brow before shuffling his tail to his mitts. "Gingereyes?" Cedarflight blinked. "How do you know our father?" He furrowed his brows, lowering his chin whilst he study the feline's appearances. "Yes, Gingereyes." Wolf raised a smile. "I used to be alone, trespassing through WindClan's border. Then, a pale-furred tomcat with bright ginger-eyes caught me. He was friendly after all. He brought me to the leader, Harestar. Luckily the leader found me innocent.. she let Gingereyes to visit my anytime he wants, not sure how it works though." Wolf cleared his throat. It was breaking the code right? Or is he wrong? Wolf just gave a brief shake of his head to snap out things from his mind. Cedarflight frowned. "Nonsense! How could an outsider know more about our father more than us do?" Gingereyes abandoned them for unknown reason. It broke his heart. Runningtrail side-eye glanced at Cedarflight. "What about our mother? Do you know anything about her?" questioned Runningtrail, tilting his head as he returned his glare to Wolf. "I'm afraid not. I used to, but after that accident.. I don't remember anything about her." Wolf dip his head and curled his lips. "What accident?" Cedarflight perked up, furrowing his brows with a stern glare towards Wolf. Wolf pinned his ears against at the back of his head. "Maybe not now. Maybe I'll explain everything to you after you have get used on being here." Wolf just gave a brief nod before raising up to his mittens. "See you two around." He waved his tail as a goodbye, trotting away from Runningtrail and Cedarflight behind his trail. Runningtrail briefly glanced at Cedarflight. "We're different from our father." He cleared his throat, shuffling his paws forward to drop himself down, laying on the ground. Cedarflight tsk. "I don't care." He shrugged his shoulder with his lips curled, narrowing his eyes as he side-eyed at Runningtrail. Runningtrail hated Cedarflight's vibe. He rolled his eyes and groan, soon remaining silence, placing his tail beside his flanks. After a time being quiet, Cedarflight was asleep, it was now left Runningtrail glaring around the barn. Dovefur, Deepsorrow and Pureheart. "Can you two get away? I don't like either of you!" Dovefur insists with a loud hiss at Deepsorrow and Pureheart. Deepsorrow just gave a brief shrug of his shoulder. "Whatever, Dovefur! You're such a hater." The dark-pelted tomcat stucked his tongue out. Pureheart nudged his shoulder over to Deepsorrow's. "Shut your maw! Go to sleep." The Sphinx cat demands, wrinkling his nose with a snarl. Deepsorrow wrinkled his nose, snarling back to Pureheart. "Whatever!! You're coming with me!" He growled, gripping Pureheart's arm and pull him over to the grass hays. Pureheart furrowed his brows in annoyance whilst flattening his ears. He doesn't like getting dragged. The barn then was left to sleep. Fulfill by felines sleeping until the next sunrise.
