Imprisonment of the God of Mischief

Y/N, Thor, and a bound Loki arrive at Asgard as a group of guards take Loki to prepare him for his trial before his Father. Thor and Y/N follow the group and once time has passed, the trial begins. Loki sees his mother and smiles. “Hello, mother… Have I made you proud?” Frigga looks to her chained son, sadness in her voice. “Please… don’t make this worse…” “Define ‘worse’...” “Enough!” Odin spoke from his throne as Y/N got a good look at him. She saw the old God looking down upon Loki, a solemn expression that hid his own sadness. “I will speak to the prisoner alone.” Loki steps forward as he lets out a breathy chuckle. “I really don't see what all the fuss is about.” “Do you not truly feel the gravity of your crimes? Wherever you go, there is war, ruin, and death.” Loki shakes his head a bit. “I went down to Midgard to rule the people of Earth as a benevolent God.” He looks to Y/N for a moment, winking as he then looks back to Odin. “Just like you. “ Odin wore an expression of bemusement. “We are not gods. We are born, we live, we die. Just as humans do.” Loki ponders a moment, rolling his eyes. “Give or take 5,000 years.” Odin frowns upon him. “All this because Loki desires a throne.” Loki frowns back as he responds sternly. “It is my birthright.” “Your birthright was to die as a child!” Odin fires back in his booming voice, catching Y/N off guard as she watches the scene before her eyes. “Cast out onto a frozen rock! If I had not taken you in, you would not be here now to hate me.” Loki lets out an exasperated sigh. “If I am for the axe, then for mercy's sake, just swing it. It's not that I don't love our little talks, it's just... I don't love them.” Odin sighs as he leans back against his throne. “Frigga is the only reason you're still alive, and you will never see her again. You will spend the rest of your days in the dungeons.” Loki glares at his father upon learning his sentence. “And what of Thor? You'll make that witless oaf King while I rot in chains.” “Thor must strive to undo the damage you have done. He will bring order to the Nine Realms and then, yes... He will be king.” With that… Loki is escorted away to the dungeons as Y/N begins to follow. “Wait.” Y/N stops upon hearing Odin’s voice. “....Come here, child. Let me see you.” The guards escort Y/N toward Odin as she stands before him now. “It is not very often that a mortal stands upon Asgardian ground… Why are you here?” There wasn’t much venom in his voice, but he was still stern. Y/N begins to speak, nervous. “I-I-” “She was a victim of Loki’s attack.” Thor spoke up, approaching the throne. “She wanted to see him go to trial and receive his punishment herself.” Odin looks upon her for a moment with his one eye as he then stands up. “A woman scorned can be a very dangerous foe… And a strong ally. Tell me, what is it you want? It is only right that I compensate you after enduring my son’s actions the way you have.” Y/N looks to Odin, a bit surprised by his offer. “I-I… I don’t want anything, actually… Maybe just some answers.” Odin nods as he places his hand upon her shoulder. “There are only so many answers I can provide for you… Stay awhile and think about your questions carefully. And as for you, Thor… Your duties will begin shortly. I suggest you return to your chambers and I will have my guards escort this mortal to a designated chamber.” Thor nods a bit as he starts walking away, the guards now taking Y/N to her resting chambers. Odin watches as he ponders somewhat. “There is something about that mortal…” Frigga walks up to him, concerned. “You saw it too? The way he looked at her… I really believe there may be more to this situation than meets the eye… Is that why you talked with her the way you did?” Odin nods in response. “Whoever she is to him… She must be important. Fleeting as her life may be.” ------ Y/N arrives at her chamber as she glances around the lavish golden room. “Wow… This really is a home for the Gods…” Some maidens walk in with a teal and dress with golden trimming along the hem and the sleeves as they approach her. One of the maidens spoke. “Odin has ordered for you to be changed into more Asgardian attire.” Y/N looks at the dress for a moment, raising a brow. “I’m sorry?” Another maiden spoke. “You must wear this if you are to enjoy your stay here.” “I don’t really wear dresses that often-” “You must.” Another spoke out more firmly. “It is the King’s orders.” She looks over the dress once more and lets out a sigh. “Fine, I’ll wear the dress…” The maidens strip off the foreign looking clothing Y/N wore and slip her into the Asgardian cotton dress. The maidens eventually leave her as she walks up to a mirror to see how she looked in the dress. “....Okay, maybe this isn’t too bad… It actually feels kinda… nice.” She then sees the selection of jewelry left on the dresser as she takes a look. She picks up a beautiful red and blue gemmed silver necklace as she clasps it on her neck. She then brushes down her hair, wild from the travel through the Bifrost as she then takes the front section of her hair and brushes it in front of her face. After a little bit, she flips her hair back as it parts to the sides, looking like a fresh blow-out. “Okay, Loki… Eat your nasty heart out…” “Indeed, he may…” Frigga speaks up as Y/N flinches, startled as she looks over. “S-Sorry! I didn’t think anyone would be watching…” “Don’t be. You look like a true Asgardian in my old dress.” Y/N looks at the dress for a second before looking back to Frigga. “This was yours? But… why would you…?” “I had no use for it. I haven’t worn it since my youthful days and I needed to pass it to someone worthy of it.” “But… I don’t think-” “You are, Y/N.” “How do you know my-” “That is not important…” She approaches Y/N, looking her in the eyes. “You seem to have done something to make my son look at you the way he did at the trial… I am hoping you could possibly tell me how it is you’ve done that.” “Ma’am, with all due respect, I honestly have no idea why he wants me as his Queen…” “Queen? It has gotten to that point? You really must have done something if it’s caused him to start thinking about having a Queen at his side…” “I really don’t think he really means it… I think he just hated how I defied him back on Earth... “ “Whatever the case… I think you are the one to help him redeem himself for Asgard…” “Me? You have to be mistaken… I’m nobody. I’m just a mortal to you all…” “Even so, you have done something to strike his attention… Whatever it may be, I urge you….” Frigga takes her hand, giving her the eyes of a mother who only had love for her son. “I beg of you… Please, help my son….” “I-I…. How can I after all he did to me?” “You’ll find a way… I can see it.” She lets go and walks out of the chamber, sighing softly as Y/N was left alone. ----- Thor had recovered Jane after she had absorbed what was known as the Aether. He brought her to Asgard to Odin, who at first refused to take her in, having already given enough mercy for another mortal. However, upon seeing how the infection from the Aether was reaction within Jane, he had reluctantly changed his mind and took her in. Meanwhile, Frigga pays a visit to Loki as more guards fill the dungeons. Loki chuckles, amused. “Odin continues to bring me new friends. How thoughtful.” Frigga stood within Loki’s cell. “The books I sent, do they not interest you?” “Is that how I am to while away eternity? Reading?” “I've done everything in my power to make you comfortable, Loki….” Loki scoffs somewhat at the statement. “Have you? Does Odin share your concern? Does Thor? It must be so inconvenient, them asking after me day and night. “ “You know full well it was your actions that brought you here….” “My actions? I was merely giving truth to the lie that I had been fed my entire life... That I was born to be a king.” “A king? A true king admits his faults. What of the lives you took on Earth?” Loki frowns at her. “A mere handful compared to the number that Odin has taken himself. “Your father-” Loki suddenly snaps back in anger. “He's not my father!” Frigga looks at him, saddened by his statement. “Then am I not your mother?” “....You're not….” Frigga gives him a sorrowful smile as she holds her hands out to him. “You're always so perceptive about everyone but yourself…” Loki looks at her hands for a moment, approaching her as he slowly waves his hand over hers. She was a mere projection, knowing full well she couldn’t truly be down there with him. Her projection wavers and vanishes before his eyes. Y/N slowly shows herself, having witnessed the scene that had just occurred. “So is that really how you treat the people who raised you?” Loki looks at her and frowns as he approaches the wall, leaning against it. “How I treat my adoptive family really isn’t your concern…” “It kind of is… considering your father asked me to stay for awhile while trying to find a way to compensate me for your actions…” “How kind of him…” He responds sarcastically. “I know full well why he kept you here… He wants answers…” “Actually… I’m the one who wants answers…” Loki raises his brow at her. “Answers about what?” “You… The way your father spoke to you, it clearly looks like he cares about you…” “He doesn’t care… Everything he ever said or did for me was all for the purpose of using me to put an end to the tension between Asgard and Jotunheim… He never really loved me, no matter what he claims…” “...So that’s what this is…” “....I beg your pardon?” “Why you are like this… You just wanted to belong somewhere, didn’t you?” Loki gets flustered as he then turns away from her, leaning his back against the wall. “I have no problem belonging anywhere. I can literally change myself to blend in…” “So what is it then? Did you want recognition? Acceptance?” “All I ever wanted was to be treated like an equal… Thor’s equal and Father’s… My father lied to me my whole life and I’ve always been living under my brother’s shadow… The one moment Thor messed up and Father fell into his sleep, I took it upon myself to prove that I truly am worthy of the same respect…” “I see… So a black sheep kind of situation…. If respect is something you want, you have to earn it honestly… Not by taking it by force or by establishing fear…” “And just who are you to tell me this?” “I’m the woman who had to spend her entire life trying to gain the same respect…. Everything that was done to me… No man had any respect for me as an equal… They all saw me as a prize and nothing more…” Loki slowly glances toward her, his eyes filled with genuine sympathy as he knew how that felt when he first found out the truth of his origins. “A prize, hmm?” He then looks her over a bit, now taking notice of the dress and the necklace as he gives a soft smile. “Mother’s dress looks ravishing on you… You almost look like a real Asgardian…” Y/N was taken aback by his compliment, unsure whether to trust if it was real or not. “Um….. thanks?” Loki sighs a bit as he slowly starts to switch back. “Don’t expect anything else from me. I’d prefer we stop having this conversation. It’s making me sick.” “Fine. I won’t talk to you… But I’m gonna be watching you.” Loki chuckles a bit. “How amusing…” ---- Soon, the Dark Elves arrived on Asgard, launching an attack in an attempt to steal back the Aether and use its power. Y/N hears them coming as she quickly goes to hide. The Dark Elves come in, taking out the guards in the dungeon as they overlook Loki and make their way out. Loki raises a brow and speaks up. “You might want to take the stairs to the left.” The largest Dark Elf looks to Loki for a moment before turning back and following his instruction. He runs into Frigga, who attempts to defend Jane. However, the Dark Elf grabs her from behind and stabs her in the back as she falls. Some time after the attack, a guard approaches Loki’s cell, Y/N now out of hiding as she listens. Loki had gotten the news that his mother had been attacked and killed. The guard walks away as Loki slowly turns around toward his cell, slowly being overwhelmed with pain as he uses his magic to toss aside some of his furniture. Eventually, it had boiled over as he demolished the contents of his cell, leaving footsteps of red, leaving himself in one layer of clothing and his long wavy hair now dishevelled. He soon sits at the wall of his cell, panting heavily. It all came to a peak as he soon let out a heart-wrenching scream of anguish, slumping back against the wall as his eyes filled with tears. Y/N had never seen Loki so vulnerable and raw. She had witnessed everything and felt his pain as Frigga had been nothing but kind to her. “....Loki…” Loki raises his hand, closing his eyes as he wasn’t having it. “Save it… I don’t need your pity…” “.....I’m sorry….” “.....why?” “.....I….” “Just stop…. I said… I don’t want your pity…” Y/N could see now that despite everything he had said to Frigga, he had truly loved her as a mother. He looked up to her and she had taught him everything he knew about magic. Everything. And he led the wolves right to her. He had an overwhelming feeling of guilt as he quietly mourned her. Y/N hangs her head as she soon stops speaking, giving him what he needed for now. After some time, they heard footsteps as Loki quickly puts up an illusion of the cell being restored and he, back in his original state, standing, waiting. Thor comes in, approaching the cell. Loki looks at Thor as he smirks a bit. “Thor. After all this time and now you come to visit me. Why? Have you come to gloat? To mock-” Thor sighs as he cuts him off. “Loki, enough. No more illusions.” The illusion Loki sighs and lowers his head as the illusion eventually crumbles away, revealing Loki in his depressive state. “ Now you see me, brother....” Thor walks around the cell, moving closer. “Did she suffer?” “I did not come here to share our grief. Instead I offer you the chance of a far richer sacrament.” Loki looks at Thor as he raises a brow. “Go on…” “I know you seek vengeance as much as I do. You help me escape Asgard and I will grant it to you. Vengeance and afterward, this cell.” Loki chuckles somewhat. “You must be truly desperate to come to me for help. What makes you think you can trust me?” “I don't.... Mother did. But you should know….” Thor continued, looking straight at Loki. “....that when we fought each other in the past, I did so with a glimmer of hope that my brother was still in there somewhere…. That hope no longer exists to protect you….. You betray me, and I will kill you.” “Hmm….” Loki thinks for a moment as he looks at Y/N. “What do you think, darling?” Y/N looked confused for a moment until she spoke up. “Well… if what you said before is true, you know this is the best way to start earning it…” “.......” Loki looks at her for a moment, pondering before looking back to Thor. “....When do we start?”
