Thor, Y/N and Loki were walking through the palace, trying to sneak out and remain inconspicuous. With how the guards were on high alert, it was proving to be a tad difficult to do so. Loki looked at Thor, a bit confused as to why there was no show for brutality.
“This is so unlike you, brother. So clandestine. Are you sure you wouldn't rather just punch your way out?”
Thor rolls his eyes, a tad annoyed. “If you keep speaking, I just might.”
“Fine. As you wish. I'm not even here.” He changes his form into that of a guard. “Is this better?"
Thor looks at him for a second. "It's better company at least."
Guard Loki chuckles. "Still, we could be less conspicuous.” He changes back and turns Thor into Lady Sif as Loki smirks. “Mmm, brother, you look ravishing.”
Thor/Sif look at themselves for a moment, even more annoyed. “It will hurt no less when I kill you in this form.”
“Very well. Perhaps you prefer one of your new companions given that you seem to like them so much.” Loki soon turns himself into Steve Rogers. “Oh, this is much better. Ooh. The costume is a bit much. So tight. But the confidence... I can feel the righteousness surging.” Y/N couldn’t help but giggle at this display, finding it a bit amusing. “Hey, do you want to have a rousing discussion about truth? Honor? Patriotism? God bless Amer-” Thor quickly covers his mouth and hides them behind a thick pillar. “What?” Loki looks over and sees the guards passing by. “You could at least furnish me with a weapon. My dagger, something.” Thor looks at Loki for a moment and starts to give Loki something. Loki smirks as he starts accepting it. “At last. A little common sense.” He raises his arms, seeing it was a pair of cuffs clasping onto his wrists.
Thor smirks as he starts walking along. “And I thought you liked tricks.”
Y/N chuckles again as she walks along with Loki, seeing him in the cuffs. “Gotta admit, I’m starting to like that look on you.”
Loki looks at Y/N, bemused. “Forgive me if I don’t share the same sentiment.”
“But… other than that, I’m honestly a little surprised you actually decided to join in. I didn’t think you’d even listen to me.”
“You’re to be my Queen, yes? I must take everything you say into consideration. I can at least give you that much free will once I make myself Ruler…”
Thor scoffs as he is walking ahead of them. “And I’ll have short hair and 1 eye. Come now, brother. You’ll have to be much more realistic than that.”
Y/N looks at Loki. “Why are you so adamant on making me your Queen? I’m just a mortal to you. I’ll be dead in a few decades anyway.”
“...To me, those decades may be the most precious years of my life. I’m so tired of losing everyday. For once, I’d like to accomplish one thing and if it's spending just a little bit of my years with someone so limited, then so be it.”
“Okay, was that supposed to be an insult about my lifespan?”
“Oh darling, you’d know when I’m insulting you. My point is maybe after I get what I want, I could make a change. I would prefer to lose decades with something than lose an entire year of nothing.”
“So why not start now? It’s been a year since New York and you’re already doing something good with yourself. With a little time, you might be able to earn everything you ever wanted.”
“Hah! That’ll be the day. My brother, giving me equal respect and my father giving me the throne. Everything I had ever done for them meant nothing to them!”
Thor frowns at Loki as he keeps walking. “You truly believe that?”
“It’s always been that way, Thor. Whether you choose to believe it or not…”
------
After stealing a ship, Thor was flying along, staying in the cockpit for now as Loki and Y/N were staying down below.
Loki looks her over, almost solemn as he looks at the dress. “Mother must have taken quite a liking to you to give you her dress.”
“Yeah, I don’t understand why, though…”
“So help me here… You, the survivor of so many awful men, here with me, what you’d consider an absolute monster, alone. Why?”
“I…. I’m not sure… Honestly, I’d hate your guts right now if that was all I saw… But after what happened back at the dungeons… I can see now you’re just misunderstood.”
“Misunderstood? That’s insulting.”
“No, you gotta admit, when we first met, there was no way I could have known what you were really like. That whole talk about me being your Queen and all, I thought you were just seeing me as a prize trophy…”
“You truly think that’s all I am?”
“You literally killed 80 people in 2 days…”
“And you believe I liked that?”
She scoffs. “What? You didn’t?”
“Darling, I don’t like hurting people…. Honestly, I’d do things a little different, but this is the way things had to go… It doesn’t help that I even chose to do all this, but to me, it was the only way for me to make myself known. Everything I ever did was because I was lied to and made to be used… I’m trying to prove that I can be more.”
“By murder and fear?”
“I- You’re twisting my words…”
“What other way is there?!”
“Maybe I just wanted to be accepted! And I really think you are my best chance in achieving that. I don’t understand what it is, but whenever I’m around you, whenever we have these chats, I…. I feel suffocated, but in a good way…”
As Y/N listened to this, she began to realize something she never wanted to know. “O-Oh god… Loki, I can’t do this.”
Loki stands up. “Why not?” He approaches her. “You feel it too, don’t you? What is it?”
Y/N starts to stand up to walk away. “I-I don’t-”
Loki quickly uses his cuff hands to grab at her wrists and pin her to the wall of the ship. “What are you so afraid of?!”
Y/N blurts out. “You!!!”
“.....me?”
“I-I mean….. Not just you…. I’m afraid of making another mistake, especially with you…”
“I… I don’t understand.”
“Loki, I-... I don’t want to fall in love with you. Not with you, but I can’t help it… I’m afraid of getting myself hurt again…”
He loosens his grip on her a bit. “You? Love me?”
Y/N begins to tear up as she frees her arms. “I don’t know how or when, but it’s happening… And I don’t want to get hurt because I know that eventually, I might realize that you really are a monster and you are incapable of love!”
Loki’s eyes widened as he heard this. “I-Incapable of love? Of- Are you serious? I loved my brother! My father, my mother! I loved my home! My people! My friends! I’m the one who lost it all and you think I’m incapable of feeling any love? You saw what happened to me when I got the news of my mother’s death!”
“I don’t know if it was real!”
“Then tell me if this is real.” Loki leans in and plants his lips on Y/N’s, pressing himself on her as he holds the kiss. Y/N’s eyes widened as she tried to squirm free, but as the kiss was held, she slowly began to relax. Surprisingly cold, but soft. That’s what it felt like. A fresh tear falls and it warms the kiss just a bit as Loki eventually pulls away, huffing a bit as he looks into her eyes. “You… You understand now?”
Y/N looks at him for a moment as she then gives him a hug as he was a little taken aback by it. “You are a horrible person…. And you’re cold….” Loki chuckles somewhat as he looks down at her.
Thor calls out from above. “Loki! Leave the poor girl alone!” He had heard the yelling as well as some thudding, but he didn’t know how to put the ship on auto.
Loki sighs as he soon pulls back from her, shrugging a bit. “We can continue this later…” He soon starts making his way back up top.
Y/N sits back down, trying to process what the hell just happened there. “D-Did I… Did we just…?”
--------
The time soon came when Thor and Loki went face to face with Malekith, Y/N watching with Jane. It seemed like they had a plan...
Thor looks at Jane and the others. “All right. Are you ready?”
Loki looks back at Thor and nods. “I am.” They rise up and begin to approach, watching the Dark Elves. “You know, this plan of yours is going to get us killed.”
“Yes, possibly…”
Loki holds out his cuffed hands as Thor looks at him. “....You still don't trust me, brother?”
“Would you?” Thor then begins to uncuff Loki, Jane and Y/N watching.
Loki rubs his hands a bit as he looks out a moment. “...No, I wouldn't.” He takes out his dagger and stabs Thor, making him fall down the hill.
Jane cries out as she watches Thor roll down. “Thor! No!” She and Y/N quickly start to run after the two.
Loki quickly follows behind, sliding down the hill toward him. Malekith and the others begin to approach as Loki walks over to Thor. “You really think I cared about Frigga? About any of you?” He kicks Thor in the face, sending him flying over as he follows. “All I ever wanted was you and Odin dead at my feet!” Thor attempts to summon his hammer as Loki suddenly grabs his wrist and slices his hand off, making Thor scream out as the hammer flew past and dropped on the ground. Jane ran over to Thor, kneeling beside him as Thor cringed, holding his arm. Loki looked down at Jane before grabbing her and dragging her with him toward the Dark Elf. “Malekith! I am Loki of Jotunheim, and I bring you a gift.” He throws Jane at their feet as Y/N watches, almost helpless as she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. “I ask only one thing in return... A good seat from which to watch Asgard burn.”
The large Dark Elf whispers toward Malekith. “He is an enemy of Asgard. He was a prisoner in their dungeons.”
Malekith approaches Thor, looking down at him. “Look at me….” He kicks Thor over, shoving him on his back. He lifts Jane from the ground as he starts to pull the Aether from her body, a vision showing in her mind. As the last of the Aether was ripped from her, she falls to the ground as Thor eventually yells out.
“Loki! NOW!”
Loki uses his magic, dropping the illusion as Thor still has his hand, calling over Mjolnir. Loki quickly goes to shield Jane from the lightning as Thor then uses the strike to destroy the vaporous Aether. After this, Thor and Loki begin their battle with the Dark Elves, but to a tragic end as Loki takes a stabbing from the large Elf, Thor and Y/N crying out as Loki is thrown down. However, as the Dark Elf approached, Loki had one last trick up his sleeve, having activated the bomb on his waist.
“See you in Hel, Monster…”
The blast kills the large Elf, imploding him. Thor and Y/N quickly kneel beside Loki, hoping to help him somehow.
Thor starts to cradle Loki in his arms. “No. No, no, no. Oh, you fool, you didn't listen….”
Loki looks up at Thor, cringing in pain. “I know... I'm a fool, I'm a fool.”
“Stay with me, okay?”
“I'm sorry…. I'm sorry…. I'm sorry....”
“Shh... It's okay. It's all right.”
Y/N begins to sob as she tries to plead with him. “Loki, no… No, stay… Stay, please…”
Loki looks at her and weakly smiles as he reaches up and wipes her face of her tears. “Don’t waste your tears on a fool like me….”
“No, no… No, Loki…”
“It’s okay…. It’s okay…. I never got your name…..”
She sniffles a bit as she presses her forehead to his as she whispers. “...Y/N….”
Loki smiles weakly at her. “Y/N….”
Thor looks at Y/N and Loki as tears fall from his eyes. “I'll tell Father what you did here today…. I’ll tell him everything…”
Loki looks at him for a moment as he responds. “....I didn't do it for him….” Soon, the light leaves his eyes as he goes limp, dying there in his brother’s arms as both he and Y/N cry out in anguish.
-------
Some years passed and Asgard was flourishing properly, peace and tranquility among the people, all watched over by Odin Allfather. One day, Thor, with the head of Surtur strapped onto himself, returned home to find that there was a statue erected in honor of Loki, in all his glory, and a play dictating his demise as a tribute. Odin was sitting in his robes, enjoying the show with an audience, all immersed into the story. After the play ends, Odin sees Thor and begins to act all nervous as he announces Thor's return. Thor becomes suspicious of his father as he presents the head of Surtur to him. He then tries to make Odin drop his guard, but soon resorts to an alternative. He throws his hammer outward and grabs Odin’s head, stating that nothing, not even his head, could stop Mjolnir from returning to his hand. Eventually, a familiar voice is heard from Odin as a green flash appears, Loki is revealed as he jumps out of the way of the hammer, the Asgardians looking at him in shock.
Some time later, Thor urges Loki to take him to where he exiled Odin, both returning to Midgard to find a demolished building. Underlying anger building up from disbelief that his brother was alive and that his father was exiled, Thor urges Loki to find Odin and return him home immediately. Loki is then pulled into a portal made by Doctor Strange, who invites Thor for a discussion. After the discussion, he releases Loki and sends the brothers to Norway, where Odin was waiting. He reveals one final secret upon his final moments, that they had a sister, who had an appetite for destruction and power. Upon his death, the firstborn daughter returns, destroying Thor’s hammer and, upon trying to return to Asgard through the Bifrost, shoves Thor and Loki out of the stream.
Upon landing in Sakaar, Thor is captured and reunited with Loki, who is gaining the favor of the Grandmaster. Some time later, Loki is reunited with Thor again through captivity by Valkyrie, who gave him a good beating after he triggered some past traumas. Thor keeps Loki close, trying to have a serious discussion with him.
As they stood in the elevator leading toward the hangar, they continued their chat as Loki came to this conclusion. “Here’s the thing. I’m probably better off staying here on Sakaar.”
Thor smiles somewhat. “That’s exactly what I was thinking.”
Loki was surprised and confused by his answer. “.....Did you just agree with me?”
“This place is perfect for you. It's savage, chaotic, lawless. Brother, you're going to do GREAT here.”
“Do you truly think so little of me?”
Thor pauses for a moment. “Loki, I thought the world of you. I thought we were gonna fight side by side forever. But, at the end of the day, you're you, I'm me… I don't know, maybe there's still good in you, but let's be honest, our paths diverged a long time ago….”
Loki felt a little hurt by Thor’s conclusion to discard his relationship with him and tries to mask it. “It’s probably for the best that we never see each other again….”
Thor chuckles as he pats Loki on the shoulder. “That’s what you always wanted.”
Loki ponders for a moment. “....So… How’s Y/N? Did you hear anything from her since… you know?”
Thor frowns somewhat. “She still mourns you, last I heard… Took her awhile to get back to her normal life…”
“Ah…. I see…. I honestly didn’t think she’d still…”
“Well, brother, you managed to charm her… And that’s another reason why we should part ways as soon as possible… You hurt everyone you meet, whether intentional or not… It’s best to leave her be….”
“That’s not something I want….”
“That’s the way things should be….”
“...Perhaps….”
----
After escaping on a large ship with a rock alien and a bug, Loki arrives to evacuate what was left of Asgard while Thor tries to keep Hela, the Goddess of Death, at bay. After going to the vault and resurrecting Surtur in the Eternal Flame, he returns to the ship with a familiar blue cube hidden on his person. Surtur seemingly kills Hela and destroys Asgard while Thor and the rest of Asgard flew away, watching its destruction. As Thor grabs a drink, Loki pays him a visit. Thor, believing he wasn’t really there, throws the drink cap at him as Loki catches it, proving he was no illusion. Loki, throughout many years of his life, had made the effort to finally make a change for the better, not just because of Y/N’s influence, but because of his dear brother and father. All was good until….
Thanos attacks the ship, wiping out half of what was left of the Asgardian population, including Heimdall when he sends the Hulk away. Loki quickly sends a very convincing duplication of himself to Thanos as he then turns himself into a pile of rubble. Thanos snaps the neck of the duplicate and leaves with the Space Stone, which was inside the Tesseract that Loki had smuggled onto the ship. As Thor mourns over his brother, truly believing he was dead once more, the ship explodes as Loki was knocked out by the explosion along with Thor, both tossed in different directions into space.
Quite some time passed as eventually, Loki found himself near Midgard. The explosion had luckily thrown him toward the Earth’s trajectory as he tried to find a way to boost himself closer to the orbit. He manages to find one of the guns he had planned on using in defense back on Sakaar on his person and points it away from Earth, shooting as he uses its force to push him closer. Eventually, he manages to land on the coast of one of the Hawaiian islands, swimming his way to shore as he tries to gain his composure.
He sees the familiar circle of sparks form beneath him as he sighs, annoyed. “Not this again…” He falls in again, this time landing in the New York Sanctum, overlooked by Doctor Strange, who seemed unamused.
“Loki Laufeyson… I have to say, it really isn’t all that nice to see you back on Earth once again…”
Loki slowly starts getting back up as he looks up at Doctor Strange, who was floating over him thanks to his cloak. “Can’t say the same to you, sorcerer….” He gets his daggers out, but Strange sends his cloak down to restrain him, landing in front of him as Loki had his hands tangled in the fabric.
“Why are you back here? What are you planning this time?”
“I don’t answer to you, sorcerer…”
“I prefer the term ‘Master of the Mystic Arts’ and you will answer me. Otherwise, I could just send you to a volcano or to Mount Everest to freeze. Now why are you back here?”
“I… I’m looking for someone…”
“What for?”
“...She’s very important to me…”
Doctor Strange raises a brow, almost intrigued by his response. “Very well… I’ll humor you…” He grabs a spell book and skims through it before performing a truth spell on Loki. “You are now forced to tell me only the truth. If you attempt to lie, you’ll begin to choke.” The cloak releases Loki and returns to Doctor Strange, giving him the daggers taken from Loki to render any attempts to kill completely null.
“Fine…”
“Who is this woman?”
“Y/N…”
“What is she?”
“Mortal… Human…”
“What is she to you?”
“Absolutely no-ACH!” He starts to choke a bit as he tries to calm down.
“I’d think about your next words carefully if I were you… What is she to you?”
Loki calms down, taking a few deep breaths as he sighs softly. “Sh-She’s… She’s the woman who managed to claim my heart…”
“Oh ugh… That has to be the mushiest truth I ever heard from someone like you… But it’s the truth since you didn’t choke… How did this happen?”
“Do you remember my first attack in New York?”
“Yes.”
“She was there… and she was the one to ever defy me, even in the face of death… She… interested me, to say the least….”
“So a woman who has the guts to stand up to you is the one you’ll fall for?”
“Yes… When she came with me and Thor to Asgard, she never left the dungeons… She watched over me and eventually, she got me to open up at times… This is clearly something I never do with anyone, not counting this ridiculous spell…”
“I can understand that. Go on?”
“Eventually, we cemented our newfound respect and affection toward each other with… must I really go on? I feel this is very private stuff being exposed here…”
“Fine, fine. I’ll stop you there… To think that you, the God of Mischief, who had caused so much pain and destruction in New York, would have the heart to fall in love with someone you’d consider to be a lesser being…”
“It baffles even me… But… it is the truth… My truth anyway…”
“Mhmm… I see… Well… I have one more thing to ask.”
“.....”
“What do you plan on doing with her if I were to help you locate her?”
“....You’d help me?”
“What can I say? At this point, I kind of pity you…”
“I don’t need your pity, but…. If you truly must know to put your sorry little heart at ease… I am hoping to put her heart at ease and make her my Queen, as I had intended in the first place…”
“Queen of what, exactly?”
“Anything! Just…. I want her to be mine and mine alone… I.... I just want her to be okay…”
“Fine. I’ll help.” Strange starts teleporting him and Loki to many parts of the Sanctum, looking through his spell books for a way to locate the girl. “Did you receive anything from her at all?”
“Not that I know of…”
“Hmm… This is going to be hard…” He keeps skimming through until he comes across a spell. “Hmm… Okay. This spell might work. All I need is a visual description of the person in order to pinpoint their location with great accuracy.”
“I believe I can help with that.” Loki gets up and uses his magic to shapeshift himself into Y/N.
Strange takes a look at her and raises a brow. “Wow. You really like her, don’t you?”
Loki answers in Y/N’s voice. “Don’t even go there. I just happen to like the way she presents herself.”
Strange takes in her appearance as he starts to perform the spell. “This could take a few minutes. You can relax now.”
Loki drops the form and sits down, his mind racing. What would she look like now? Is she in better health? What happened to her while he was absent?
Doctor Strange creates a portal, leading to the apartment Loki had first visited long ago. “Okay. This should be it.”
Loki stands up, seeing the familiar office room as he approaches. “....I suppose I should thank you for this… Perhaps your magic is truly something after all.”
Strange looks at Loki and pats him on the back. “Yeah, don’t mention it. Bye-bye.” He shoves Loki through as the portal closes behind him.
Loki looks around the office, seeing it was cleaner than before. He then takes a look at himself for a moment before conjuring up a nice black suit, a brown trench coat, and a scarf. “Alright…” He hears the front door opening and closing as a familiar voice was heard.
“Ugh…. stupid Jennifer, giving me extra paperwork…”
Loki quickly conjures up his silhouette as he then moves outside of the office.
Y/N starts walking toward the office, seeing the silhouette as she slowly grabs for her bat. She slowly turns the knob and opens the door as the figure disappears. “....Nothing….”
Soon, Loki stood behind her. “You know… It’s interesting you would prepare yourself like this, but you really ought to beware of all your surroundings….”
Y/N freezes for a moment, dropping the bat as she hears the familiar voice behind her. “N-No way…. It can’t be….” She slowly turns around, slowly tearing in her eyes as she sees Loki in his new human clothing, his hands in his pockets as he smiles at her.
“Hello, Y/N….”
“Impossible….”
“It’s good to see you again…”
