Rejected and Unloved

Chapter 5

A few days have passed and today is my birthday eve. Everything has been normal. My family being unbothered about me. They aren’t even acting like it’s going to be my birthday. I honestly don’t think they remember. Miranda is the one that usually reminds them but since she has found her mate, she barely spends time at home. I’m really happy for her. Isabelle on the other hand hasn’t found hers even though she’s twenty one. My friends usually say it’s the moon goddess’s way of punishing her for being a bad sister.

My friends on the other hand have been busy trying to figure out what to do for my birthday. They want it to be special and the best birthday of my life. I honestly feel it’s going to be special. It’s either going to change everything but I don’t know if the outcome would be good or bad. Currently I’m sitting between them in the cafeteria and staring at them as they keep debating on what to do for my birthday.

“I feel we should go out to the park or something and celebrate his birthday.” Anne said

“No, I feel we should go to the cinema watch like two of his favourite movie then go to the diner.” Harry countered Anne’s idea

“Or we could go to the beach and have a picnic” Mike suggested.

“Whose idea do you like better Brent?” Anne asked.

“I like all your ideas. Why does we watch a few movies tonight, get food at the diner in the morning, go to the beach and then we can go to the pack the next day. It’s better to go to the pack on a Sunday.I suggested. I’m very lucky to have my eighteenth birthday on a Saturday. I can spend the whole weekend celebrating.

“Sure thing, I like you idea better. You are so smart.” Anne praised him

“He surely is smart. It’s so sad people don’t know his worth.” Mike said.

“Hey don’t bring up bad memories. You guys should tell us how this whole mate stuff works.” Harry said

“Yeah yeah tell us.” Anne agreed.

“Before we tell you, Anne tell us how things are with Joshua. I’ve been so curious to know.” I said

“Okay I’ll tell you. You know I told you guys we agreed to go on a date.” Anne said

“Yeah I remember” I replied.

“Well he didn’t show up. He told me he was sick and all. We decided to go on a date the next weekend but he didn’t show up again. It got me confused. Why does he keep disappointing me?” She asked

“Oh sweetie” Harry hugged her. “You should just forget about him. He’s not worth it at all.”

“Yeah take it from the love expert himself. If he honestly likes you, he would look for ways to spend time with you. He won’t ghost you or anything of the sort.” Mike said

“You deserve better Anne. You are too pretty to be bothered about a boy.” I told her.

“I just can’t seem to get over him. Maybe he should just block him or something.” She mutters

“Hey, don’t do that. If you block him,he’ll think you are bitter. He’s going to think you blocked him because he rejected you.

“Well, he hasn’t officially rejected her. I honestly feel you should talk to him first, tell him how you feel then if he still acts like a jackass just forget about him. Okay?” I asked.

“Okay. Enough of Joshua. Now tell us about the mate stuff.” She said excited about the topic

“Okay okay. So mates are like soulmates. Each werewolf has a mate. The mates are their destined soulmates and they chosen by the moon goddess who is our god. Werewolves usually find their mates after their first shift which is usually between the age 16,17,18. Mates do not find their mates unless they are both eighteen or above. Mates are very possessive of each other especially the male.” Mike explained.

“How does the werewolf know their mate?” Harry asked.

“Their mate’s scent is very strong and very addicting to them. They feel tingles and sparks when they touch. In added to the also feel each other emotions.” I answered

“I read it some where that mates bite each other. Is that true?” Anne asked.

“After werewolves find their mates they can feel each others emotions. Werewolves then go through the marking process where the male-wolf bites this mate in the neck area between the shoulder and neck. After the marking process their bond grow stronger in which now they can not feel each other thoughts too. A werewolf can bring up a wall in his brain though so that his mates can’t feel his emotions or read his thoughts. The bond is not only between their human side but also between their wolves.”I explained.

“Wow that is so cool.I’m definitely impressed.” Harry said happy about what he had just learnt

“Male omegas can also get pregnant by their mates.”Mike said

“Wow, that’s amazing. That means you can have children.” Anne asked

“Yeah. But that’s also the reason why people feel I’m too fragile.” I said muttering the last part.

“When you have a child in the future, I’m definitely going to be the god mother and either of the boys can be the godfather.” Anne said

“Well that would be me.” The two other boys said at the same time.

“Lmao. Well when that time comes I’ll think about it.” I responded laughing.

“What about rejection? Do werewolves really reject their mates?” Anne asked.

“Yes, werewolves really do reject their mates. When a mate doesn’t want another, they reject them by saying ‘I,his/her name reject you his/her mate’s name as my mate. After rejection they feel immense pain and it can kill the wolf if they are too weak. But the rejection process is not complete until the rejected mates accept the rejection. Until then a mate can take back the rejection.” Mike answered.

“ That’s awful. No wonder Brent is so scared.” Anne said sadly.

“ I believe you will have a wonderful mate. Okay?” Mike said to me after discovering that I was looking sad.

“Okay. Even if I don’t and end up getting rejected, I know you guys would always be there for me.” I told them

“Awwn baby. Come and give me an hug.” Anne said stretching her hands to receive an hug. I hugged her and Harry and Mike decided to join the hug.

“Okay guy’s let’s go to my house to watch some movies.” Mike said.

“Yay!!” The three cheered in unison.

We left our spot and went to Mike’s house which is also the pack house. Harry and Anne have been there so many times. Mike’s family knows about Harry and Anne know the secret but they are okay with it because they two of the promised on their lives that they would reveal the secret. And promising on your own life is very sacred to werewolves. They really value lives. So that is why Mike wasn’t scared when Jackson threatened to tell the truth.

On our way to the first floor where the alpha family live, we ran Betty who used to be part of the squad. She left when she discovered I was gay. Apparently she had some kind of crush on me then and felt we could work out or something of that sort. She confessed to me in the cafeteria and before I could give her a reply and an explanation, Jackson revealed to everybody that I was gay. That was also the day I became an outcast and also lost my best friend. People hate me because I’m gay but they hate me more because I turned down the most beautiful in school. Since that day she stopped speaking to me and when she discovered they had no problem with me being gay. I’m pretty sure the reason she became homophobic is because of me. You see not good happens because of me. I’m a big time disaster. The one person who saw me in a romantic manner hates everything about me.

We all want to pass beside her and act like we didn’t see her because she doesn’t acknowledge our presence anymore. But to our surprise she greeted us first.

“Hey.” She said

“Is she talking to us?” Anne asked while Harry looks elsewhere trying to find who she’s greeting.

“Of course I’m greeted you. How have you guys been doing?” Betty asked.

“We are fine. What do you want. Why did you greet us?” Mike asked hitting the nail on the head.

“Well nothing. I just felt like greeting you.” She responded.

“Well goodbye.” She said with a smile.

“Oh! Happy birthday in advance Brent.” She wished me

“Errr... thanks?” I responded.

“You are welcome sweetie. Bye” she greeted again before walking away.

“Okay. What the f**k just happened now?”Harry asked once she was out of hear reach.

“I honestly have know idea.” Anne replied

“We should go to my room now it’s getting dark. The sooner we get there, the more movies we’ll watch.” Mike said. We all agreed and matched into his room to watch some movies.

“I say we watch uncharted first.”Harry said

“No! No way home first”. Mike argued

“ I say we asked the celebrant.” Anne butted in. “What do you want birthday boy?”

“Let’s watch the heartstopper.” I told them. “I heard it’s a nice LGBT series. Can we watch it please?” I asked them with cute puppy eyes.

“Okay whatever.” Mike said as the searched for the series on Netflix. That marked the beginning of our movie night.

We watched a lot of movies such as Heart-stopper, Uncharted, No Way Home, Enchanto and many more. When it was close to 12 am everybody went for a bathroom break. I got back before the other three and it took them minutes before they came back.

“Happy birthday day to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Brent. Happy birthday to you. May the good goddess bless you. We wish you long life and prosperity in health and wealth.” They sang with a cake in Anne’s hands.

“Make a wish.”Anne said.

‘I wish for a good mate and happiness.’ I wished in my mind and blew the candle.

“Happy 18th birthday baby.” Anne wished me squeezing my cheeks

“Hey stop doing that it hurts and I’m not your baby. I’m just a two months younger than you are” I told her “but thanks for the wishes anyways.

“I also have a gift for you. You’ll get it in the morning.” She told me

“Happy birthday mate.” Harry said giving me a bro hug

“Happy birthday bro. You deserve the best and only the best. Good luck with finding your mate.” Mike said to me before giving me a bro hug.

“We love you so much.” They said in unison before giving me a group hug

“I love you too but how were you guys able to get me a cake?” I asked

“Well I asked Nana to make a cake for you and you know how much she loves you so she agreed. She says happy birthday as well.”

“Awwn. Remind me to tell her thank you tomorrow.” I told them.

“Okay okay whatever. Let’s go to bed. We have to get up early so we can enjoyed ourselves to the fullest.”Harry said to us.

We all agreed and went to sleep in our sleeping bags.
