Goddess

( Clara’s point of view) I can smell wildflowers, and who turned on the light? I open my eyes and see an unusually perfect sky. It is a shade of blue I have never seen before, and I can feel a sense of comfort from it. Goliath is still cuddled up to me, but we are laying on grass. “Goliath wake up.” I shake him lightly. His eyes open, and he looks just as confused. “Goliath why are we outside?” “I don’t know.” We stand up and look around. The scenery is breathtaking as far as I can see. There are mountains and streams. I see a waterfall and more flowers and plants than I ever knew existed. Beautiful white horses and even giant wolves are roaming off in the distance. The air feels warm, and I feel so safe. “ This must be a dream.” I look over at Goliath, and he is wearing a robe. I look down, and I have one on, too. Well, at least we aren’t naked. “I don’t think this is a dream, Clara. I think this could be some kind of spell.” The most lovely, radiant woman appears right in front of us. She has perfect white hair that goes down to her ankles and a tiara on the top of her head. Her age seems to change at every angle I look at her. I don’t feel scared, though. It is almost like she is family. “Don’t be frightened, children. I am Selene.” “Moon goddess!” Goliath says and bows. I feel like a statue not knowing what to do. “Please that is not necessary. We have much to discuss.” Goliath speaks up “Is that why we are here?” “Yes I have something very important to tell you both. Please take a seat in my gazebo.” I look behind her and see a beautiful gazebo with comfy looking seats. Was that there just a minute ago? I look up at Goliath, and he grabs my hand, walking us over there. We sit down on the love seat across from her. She has such lovely everything. From her looks to her gown, I can’t help but stare. “Now, the reasons I have summoned you both here are very important. I am afraid I have to ask the world from both of you.” Goliath rubs my back, keeping me calm. I am not so much scared as intrigued, though. “Excuse me, Selene.” I speak up in a little squeaky voice. “Yes dear?” she responds in a loving motherly voice. “You are a goddess. What could we possibly do for you?” She smiles at me and reaches over, putting her hand on my knee. “Well I need you to protect the earth and keep peace among the packs. There will be events that will take place that will shake the entire foundation of everything I have put into place.” She looks very serious now. Goliath speaks up now. “Selene we will do everything we can, but I am lost on how we will accomplish such large goals.” “Well you both by now must have sensed something is different with Clara and her wolf.” We both shake our heads in agreement. I know, at the very least, it is rare for my wolf to be dormant. “ Well, getting to the point so to speak, Clara, with the sacrifice of many, I have given you a blessed wolf. This means you will have many gifts given to you throughout your life, including immortality. You will be impossible to kill. Unfortunately, this is a curse more than a gift. I made this mistake before with Hera.” “Hera the werewolf that protects women and children in the magical kingdom? “ “Yes Goliath her. I made the mistake by not also making her mate immortal and giving her a life of grief without him. That’s why I needed you both here before you marked each other. Once you mark each other, Goliath will not be able to die from age. Unfortunately, that and giving him superior strength is the best I can do. He will still be able to die in battle.” The thought of Goliath getting killed makes my throat feel choked up. “What about our children?” I feel a tear trying to escape. “They will be stronger and superior in every way. They will even have longer life spans than any wolf has, but they will not be immortal. I am giving all the power that I have gained through sacrifices throughout many years just to give you two what I can.” I start tearing up, and Goliath wipes them away. “I accept my fate and will do everything you ask of me, goddess. “ Goliath says strong, but I can feel lots of emotion in him. “But Goliath, she said our own children will die before us.” “Sweet heart immorality is a curse I wouldn’t want to give them. At the same time, for us to be together forever is all I could ever ask for. She also said many have given and sacrificed for us to save the world full of our loved ones. It would be selfish not to do this for her, for everyone, really.” “When did you get so wise, Goliath?” He grabs my hand and gives it a kiss. “I have learned from the best.” He gives me a wink, then he looks back at Selene. “What exactly are we fighting? What do we need to do.” “I can’t tell you that, unfortunately, things won’t work out right if I do. There is one last thing I would like you to see though before you go.” “What is that?” I asked, very interested. “Look over there at that field. “ She points her finger, and I follow it, seeing two giant wolves playing around with each other. “Spike?” Goliath says, looking at the huge black wolf. “Is she my wolf?” I say pointing at the iridescent white wolf. “Yes Clara her name is Stormy, and your wolves are the absolute perfect match. They complete each other in every way. They are very happy you both are choosing to mark each other.” “Clara she is beautiful! She has rainbows coming off of her fur. I didn’t even know that was possible.” My heart feels full knowing that he loves my wolf. “Now when I send you two back Clara’s wolf will be awake and be able to communicate with her. Clara, your first shift will happen during this full moon coming up. I need to eat and fill your appetite. Your body needs to be strong for this shift it is very important.” “Yes Selene I will do as you ask. How do we go back, though?” “Both of you come here and give me a hug.” She stands up and opens her arms. It feels a bit silly to try and hug her at the same time, but I would say it’s a once in a lifetime chance to hug a goddess. We give her a side hug, and everything gets bright. I close my eyes, and once I open them, I am back in bed holding Goliath. “Was that real Goliath?” “Yes Clara I believe it was. What time is it?” I look at the clock in a little disbelief. “It is only 5.” “We still have a few hours before we have to go to that meeting. “ He says, raising his eyebrows up and down. “You don’t say.”
