An Alpha's Rejection

Chapter 15

Emily’s POV

I pull away from his hold slightly, just enough so I can look up at the man holding me,

“Alpha Lucas?” I ask for reassurance that what I’m seeing is correct, I can’t register what's happening one minute I’m Zach's mate and the next I’m Alpha Lucas’, Alex is right it’s not possible, is it?, it’s never been heard of,

“Just Lucas please Love, you are my equal” His voice low, he gives me a reassuring smile, I return it with a weak smile, tears still filling my eyes, I just stare into his eyes and he into mine, his are filled with love and promise, I can’t look away, I’m too scared that if I do it won't be real,

“GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY MATE!” a voice growls shaking the walls around us, Lucas pulls me immediately behind him in a protective manner, Roman, Will and Nate all move closer to me,

"She is no longer your Mate” Lucas calmly answers back, clearly taking pleasure in his reply, Zach starts getting up off the floor and pushes Levi and Celine away from him, making him stumble trying to gain his balance,

“SHE IS MINE” he shouts stepping forwards towards us, his eyes turning red, Axel has taken full control,

“We all just witnessed her rejection of you boy...... Emily is not an object that you can pick up and throw away when you are done playing, besides... SHE IS MY MATE NOW!” Lucas growls the last part, Nate and Roman both glance at me, I can’t read Nate’s expression he quickly looks back ahead,

“THEN I CHALLENGE YOU FOR HER” Axel growls, shifting into his large black wolf form, he lunges straight for Lucas,

Lucas pushes me out the way and Roman grabs my arm pulling me to safety, my heart is in my mouth, I gasp as Lucas grabs Zach’s wolf by the throat and throws him to his left, Axel skids across the laminated floor, he quickly gets to his feet and charges at Lucas again,

This time Lucas misses as Axel dodges his grip and bites down on Lucas's right leg, I can feel his pain through the mating bond, which is a new feeling to me, I whimper at my mate being hurt, Lucas is pi**ed, he pries Axel’s jaws from his leg landing a nasty right hook to his snout,

Lucas lets out a fierce growl, a lot louder than Zach's, it’s filled with power and dominance, sending chills down my spine, I can feel Alex smiling in the back of my head, but it’s what I see next that has me in complete shock,

Lucas shifts into his wolf and he is beautiful, as an Alpha naturally he’s black, but his fur was silky looking compare to other black wolves, but what really caught my eye was the little patch of white fur on his left side in the shape of a wolf,

‘I can’t believe it, Lucas and his wolf are made for us Em!’ Alex whispers in disbelieve in my head,

‘Then why were we Mated to Zach?’ confusion written all over my question,

‘I don’t know Em but the Moon Goddess willed it for a reason, we aren’t to question why’, I bring myself back to pay attention to what was happening in front of me.

Both wolves are circling each other, waiting for the other to make the next move, I catch Celine in my eye moving behind Lucas, I get a bad feeling, and my instincts are right,

Celine shifts lunging for Lucas and clamps down him his back leg, Axel pounces at the same time, everyone knows never to interfere in an Alpha challenge, she broke the rules, the consequences she now faces depends on who wins, my naturally instinct kicks in too protect my mate no matter the cost, without even thinking of the consequences I step forward ready to shift, I’m yanked back by Nate,

‘No you don’t, you’re about to risk everything!’ he points out through the mind link,

‘I’m sorry but as my mate he’s worth risking everything for!’ I reply, before I can register anything else, Nate steps forward and shifts, he guns straight for Celine, she puts up a fight, but she’s not quick enough for him,

Within seconds Nate’s wolf has her pinned by her throat, she immediately submits to him, I feel grateful for Nate I definitely made the right choice in making him my Beta,

Levi goes to Celine and holds her by the scruff of the neck making sure she doesn’t go nowhere, when I look around both wolves are still going at it, however it looks like Lucas is having a little bit of fun with this, I can see he’s enjoying it to some degree, he knows he’s stronger and faster than Zach, he’s toying with him,

After a few more minutes Lucas has had enough of messing around, he pins Zach's wolf to the floor with his jaws wrapped around his neck, he’s ready to end this, my heart starts racing, and time seems to slow down,

“ZACH JUST CONCEDE OR YOU’RE GOING TO DIE” Levi shouts out, desperation laced his voice, panic is filling me, I see Lucas’ eyes look at me telling me he can feel my emotions, I didn’t let Zach go to watch him die like this,

“CONCEDE ZACH” I scream at him not using my Alpha tone, what seemed like forever Zach finally submits, Lucas slowly lets go and steps back wearily, Zach shifts back and his naked body is on the floor covered in blood and bruises, Lucas’s wolf steps in front of me blocking my view letting out a low growl, I just roll my eye,

I remove my shawl from my shoulders, I place my hands on Lucas’ wolf and run my hand through his fur, making my way to look into his eyes, I make a mental note to ask him about his wolf's marking later, he’s so soft and the sparks are electric this is a whole new level, I feel him relax and can hear a very low rumble coming from him, making me smile he’s clearly enjoying my touch,

“Your wolf is beautiful, but in the meantime you can use this to cover yourself when your ready to shift back” I whisper holding my shawl up to him, he takes a quick look around then shifts back, he just smiles taking it from me, I fight the urge to look at him naked, but give in, my eyes trace his body, apart from his leg covered in a bit of blood the rest of him is clear not even a scratch, my eyes make their way to his package and I feel myself flush a shade of red, 'how is that going to fit!', I'm pulled from my thoughts,

“This is all yours to look at and touch” he chuckles winking at me, Oh my goddess, he just ignited a flame within, I’ve known him 2 minutes and he has a crazy affect on me,

I hear Roman clear his throat, I look over to see Zach is still on the floor except now Levi has covered him up in his jacket, Celine has disappeared probably afraid of the consequences of her actions, Nate is still in wolf form just in case he needs to defend me at any point, but I bet it’s because he’ll be stark naked no that it bothers us wolf kind, I chuckle internally,

“Levi, please take Alpha Zachary back to his room, get him to rest, we can talk like adults tomorrow at breakfast” I order,

“There is nothing to talk about” Lucas intervenes,

“We’ll discuss this later, however we need to keep the pack alliances, it’s in the best interests of both packs, it would be a shame to end it over something so personal, don’t you think?” I point out, Levi nods, and Lucas just raises an eyebrow at me, I know he wants to say something but he respects my decision, earning himself some brownie points,

“I expect you to hand over that she-wolf by noon tomorrow, she broke wolf law” Lucas demands speaking to Zach, who is struggling to get off the floor,

“I'll deal with her punishment” Zach mumbles struggling to stand even with Levi’s help,

“I’m sorry Alpha Zachary you know the Law, Alpha Lucas has the rights to her since he won the challenge, she interfered in an Alpha’s challenge, you know full well is punishable by death, I suggest you follow his request unless you want the Alpha King interfering” Roman backs up Lucas,

Zach’s face held a broken expression, I felt bad I don’t want anyone to die because of me, but Celine broke the law, I could of lost my Mate over it,

“Okay, I’ll have it arranged” with that Levi helped Zach to leave, Zach took one last look at me with tears in his eyes, I felt Lucas grab my hand and squeeze gently, the sparks sending goosebumps across my skin,

‘Em we need him now’ Alex screams in my head, I roll my eye at her,

‘You are unbelievable Alex, less than ten minutes ago you were ready to roll over for Zach to mark us, I’m not letting you have a say in what I do with Lucas anytime soon!’ I say it as it is, I can feel her getting a little annoyed at it, I shut her out before she says anything else,

“What would you like to do Love, head back to the party or go to bed?” Lucas asks me, staring straight into my eyes, I’m feeling mentally and physically exhausted, rejecting one mate and instantly gaining another, definitely takes its toll, I just want to lay down to process everything,

“Bed, tonight has been more eventful than I thought it would be, I think some sleep will help” I reply, he smiles and nods his head, bringing my hand to his lips and places a soft kiss on it, my heart flutters at his simple act of affection,

“Alpha Roman, if you excuse my Mate and I …” Lucas starts, I can feel my heart rate increase at him calling me his Mate “….We’ll be turning in early tonight” he finishes,

“Very well, Flower if you need me just link me” Roman says smiling at me, he genuinely looks happy for me,

“Alpha Lucas, take good care of her, I know you will” Roman says with a fatherly smile on his face, these two clearly have a bond I know nothing about, 

“Thank you Nate” I say smiling at his wolf, his wolf nods and they all leave the library, leaving just Lucas and I, I make a mental note to check on Nate first thing in the morning, 

“So Love, my room or yours?” he smiles, I visibly gulp, when he asked about going to bed it didn’t register it was together, I instantly blush red, he chuckles at my reaction,

“Nervous are we?” he teases, he's adding fuel to the flame, I blush even harder, he places two fingers under my chin and tilts my head so I look at his beautiful face,

“Who would've thought the woman who has made a fierce impression tonight on every Alpha here; would get nervous all because of me….” he winks flashing his perfect white teeth, making me weak at the knees,

“Love, you have nothing to be nervous of, I promise, but I must ask, purely out of curiosity, were you this nervous your first time?” he enquired,

“My first what?” I reply knowing full well what he meant, but I'm panicking as to how I should answer,

“The first time you had s*x?” he asked he raised his eyebrow again,

“Umm…. Well….you see….I.. ummm” I can’t form a sentence to save my life, I mentally facepalm myself, he’s squinting his eyes at me trying to understand and all of a sudden they go wide with realisation, my heart is racing so quick it feels like it about to explode,

“Emily what are you telling me?” he encourages, he isn’t going to put me out of my misery and just say it, no cause where is the fun in that, I know I saved myself for my mate, but for some reason I feel extremely embarrassed to admit it out loud,

“I’m a….. virgin” I whisper the last part so low it was barely even audible, I closed my eyes not wanting to see his reaction, whether it was to laugh at me or ridicule me, I didn’t want to see, but I heard nothing, what I felt next was fireworks,

He started kissing me, his hands snaked around my back and the other in my hair, it was gentle not forced, I pressed myself against him, bringing me arms up to wrap around his neck and deepen the kiss, he pulled back from the kiss, looking in to my eyes,

“That is perfect” he places a little kiss on the tip of my nose, I smile at him, he is so perfect,

“I understand why you are nervous, you have nothing to worry about, I won't rush or force you to do anything you are not ready for, as much as I want you right now this is going to be all about you, okay?, however sleeping in the same room tonight is non-negotiable, I don’t care if I have to sleep on the floor, I just need you close by so I know you're safe”, I can feel his uneasiness through the bond, the thought at being away from me worries him,

“You know I’m an Alpha’s Daughter right?” I ask giggling, he smiles and tilts his head down towards the floor before looking back at me again,

“Yes I know you're an Alpha’s Daughter, doesn’t change the fact you were nearly marked against your will tonight by another wolf, and while we are still around that sorry excuse of a wolf I want you close by” he explained,

“Okay fair point, I can’t promise we’ll be sleeping in the same bed, but I respect your reasons, right now I just need some sleep so I won't argue with you” I smile letting out a little yawn,

“Of course my love, as you wish”, he picks me up bridal style and carries me out the library, I wasn't expecting it but his touch is addictive I didn't protest,

“By the way, you never specified a room so I’m taking you to mine” he chuckles, then places a kiss on my cheek, making me smile, his affection is something I know I will never get tired of,

I rest my head in the crook of his neck and just inhale his scent, it relaxes me making me feel so safe in his arms, I start feeling my eyes getting heavy and then darkness…...
