THE MATE THE MOON FORBADE

Elara Bennett believed werewolves were a myth, fantasy stories meant to entertain children. Until Christmas Eve shattered her life.

Betrayed by her boyfriend and best friend, she was left bruised, humiliated, and abandoned in the freezing rain. But fate had already shifted.

Rhydian Nocthar, Sovereign Alpha of the Crimson Blackcrest Pack, appeared like a storm incarnate. Golden eyes, commanding presence, and power older than the forest itself. When he claimed her as his mate, everything she thought she knew about love, danger, and destiny changed.

Humans cannot bond with an Alpha. It is forbidden. Ancient law decrees it. To do so weakens the Alpha, destabilizes the pack, and risks wrath from the Silver Tribunal, the secretive council that governs wolfkind.

Yet the bond forms. Incomplete. Slow. Dangerous.Elara’s blood begins to stir under the moonlight.

Her senses sharpen. Her heartbeat syncs with his. Every brush of his hand, every heated glance, pulls her closer, while Rhydian restrains instincts centuries in the making.

The emotional connection grows before the physical, but the attraction simmers beneath control, threatening to ignite at any moment.

Within the Crimson Blackcrest whispers and resentment spread. Lyra daughter of Roran also a powerful council in the pack, a pure-blooded she-wolf destined to stand beside the Alpha, plots to reclaim what she believes is hers

.

The Council watches, ready to intervene. And Rhydian must confront an impossible choice: uphold the law, or embrace the bond that could change everything.

Elara is not just human. She carries dormant Crimson blood from a lineage thought extinct. Her awakening will reshape the Blackcrest. Her survival is not guaranteed.

And her heart is not the only thing at stake, love, power, and life itself hang in the balance.

The Moon forbade her. The Alpha claimed her.

And the Blackcrest will never be the same.

Christmas Eve Illusion
Snow fell gently over the city, soft and beautiful, like something from a postcard. Inside a small apartment decorated with fairy lights and artificial mistletoe, Elara Bennett smiled nervously at her reflection. She had baked cookies. She had wrapped gifts. She had chosen forgiveness over suspicion. Tonight, she would surprise her boyfriend, Daniel. She adjusted her red sweater and whispered, “Everything will be fine.” But fate had already shifted. She arrived at Daniel’s apartment with a small gift box in hand. The door was unlocked. Music was playing. Laughter. A woman’s laughter. Elara frowned slightly. “Daniel?” she called softly. No answer. She walked inside. And then she saw it. Daniel. Her boyfriend of three years. And her best friend, Marissa. Entangled. On the couch. Under Christmas lights. The cookies fell from her hands. The box hit the floor. Silence followed. Then Daniel looked up. Not guilty. Annoyed. “Elara? What are you doing here?” Daniel snapped. Marissa didn’t even cover herself properly. Instead, she smirked. “You weren’t supposed to find out like this,” Marissa said. Elara’s world shattered. “Marissa… you?” Her voice trembled. Daniel stood up, anger replacing shame. “You’re too emotional. Too dramatic. I needed someone stronger.” Stronger? Marissa laughed softly. “You were never enough for him.” The words sliced deeper than any blade. “You used me,” Elara whispered. Daniel’s face hardened. “You’re pathetic. Always clinging.” She stepped backward, shaking. “You said you loved me.” “I did,” he said flatly. “Until I didn’t.” Marissa stood and wrapped her arms around Daniel possessively. “You should leave,” she said sweetly. Elara’s chest tightened. This wasn’t betrayal. This was cruelty. “Get out,” Daniel said. “I live here too—” she began. He grabbed her arm. Hard. Too hard. “You lived here because I allowed it.” He dragged her toward the door. “Daniel, stop! You’re hurting me!” Marissa watched. Smiling. The door flew open. Cold rain had replaced the snow. Daniel shoved her outside. She slipped and hit the pavement. The door slammed. And the lock clicked. Christmas lights glowed warmly inside the apartment. Outside, Elara sat in freezing rain. Her lip bled. Her heart was worse. People passed. No one stopped. The rain washed her tears away. She hugged herself and whispered, “Why?” Lightning flashed. Somewhere far away, in the dark forest beyond the city A pair of golden eyes opened. On a distant hill overlooking the city stood a tall man dressed in black. He was not fully human. His name was Rhydian Draven. Alpha of the Blackcrest Pack. His wolf stirred violently inside him. His head snapped toward the city. Toward her. He could feel it. A pull. Ancient. Unbreakable. Mate. Rhydian inhaled deeply. Her scent carried through the rain. Pain. Salt. Blood. And something else. Belonging. Impossible. Humans could not be mates to Alphas. And yet, His wolf growled possessively. Mine. His eyes glowed brighter. “No,”Rhydian muttered. “That cannot be.” But fate does not ask permission. Elara tried to stand. Her ankle twisted. She fell again. Her vision blurred. She was cold. So cold. “I just want it to stop…” she whispered. The rain fell harder. Her consciousness faded. And somewhere in the darkness, something ancient awakened. A black SUV stopped across the street. The door opened. Heavy boots stepped onto wet pavement. Elara felt warmth before she saw him. Strong arms lifted her gently. Not cruel. Not violent. Protective. She drifted in and out of awareness. Through blurred vision, she saw him. Tall. Dangerous. Eyes glowing faint gold. “Who… are you?” she whispered weakly. His jaw tightened. His voice was low. Commanding. Ancient. “I am the one who will never allow anyone to hurt you again.” Thunder roared. And Christmas Eve ended in destiny.
