The Password & My Mom

Sevag’s pov

Yesss… we went to the bank. It was a huge building. We went inside and asked for the manager.

When the manager saw Hovig, he widened his smile and greeted him, as if they knew each other from long ago. They really did know each other from long ago.Then the manager invited us into his room. They were talking in German, I couldn’t understand much only few sentences and simple ones. But when we entered his office, he immedietaly said:-“welcome. Then he is the big boss. Mr. Giragosian I am glad to meet you.”

Sevag:-“nice to meet you too mr. manager.”

“My name is Heinrich, I was your fathers loyal servant, and now I will be loyal to you.”

Sevag:-“ thank you Heinrich.”

Heinrich:-“so, come on. Lets go to the lockers.”

We marched through a long corridor, the cell was full of big rooms with lockers in them, and each with iron bars. We stopped in front of a  door. Heinrich took off a lot of keys, and he chose a large key to open the iron bar door. As we entered the room, the lights turned on and we followed Heinrich as he said:-“follow me.”

We stopped at the end of the corridor, and he showed me a locker which was bigger than the others. He pointed at the locker and said:-“this was your fathers locker, when you are finished, you may meet me in my office and I will be waiting for you, to continue with the other works be done, and activate your fathers account as yours. Feel free and good luck.”

He left us alone in that room with the locker.

Hovig:-“go ahead, the password will open the locker.”

Sevag:-“8-1-5-5-1-8”

The locker was opened. 

I looked inside with confusion and was interested to know what was in there.”

I took out some papers and files, some pictures, a small chest-box, a hand gun (44 AutoMag Pistol)- some cash money, no… a lot of cash money, a key and there was a drawer which we figured out, the key was for that. 

And we were right.

I opened that drawer and found a letter.

I looked at Hovig he looked surprised too.

I opened the letter to only read one single sentence. 

“It has begun son.”

Hovig:-“ take the money and the gun, I am taking the rest.”

I did as I was told and we headed to mr. Heinrich’s office. He already had prepared everything, I only signed some papers and we left out.

I was really tired and confused.

I stepped inside my apartment and Anna ran towards me hugging her little arms around my neck.

I hugged her tightly and kissed her. 

Sevag:-“wanna watch a movie?”

Anna:-“snow white?”

Sevag:-“again?”

Anna:” yes yes please.”

Sevag:-“you win baby beauty, you always win. Come on, lets watch snow white for the 1000th time… Mia, pop corn and juice please. Oh Mia, chocolate too.” I turned back to Anna and “potato chips?” She nodded and :-“ potato chips Mia.”

Mia:-“cartoon again?”

Sevag:-“yes Mia, the little princess wants to have some fun.”

We sat and started the cartoon and we began to watch. My eyes were locked on the screen but I was absent, I was imagining, I was somewhere else. I was thinking about what happened earlier. All that money, the gun, the note, mr. Heinrich and everything. I felt like I wasn’t ready for any of those, but I knew I had to be ready. It was already time, I didn’t want to be late, I wanted to control everything and revenge, but I was scared. 

I came back to reality to Hovig’s voice:-“Sevag, come on.”

I ran to Hovig:-“what! What happened?”

Anna started crying, “Anna baby, I will be back soon, ok? Please don’t cry please.”

She wiped her eyes and nodded a “yes”. 

Hovig:-“I just called mr. Zadigian and told him that you want your mother near you, here with you. He will call you now, to convince you not to move her. You know, he wants her in front of his eyes, he always did.”

I got filled with rage, I wanted my mother with me.

I missed her.

I missed her smell.

I missed her warm looks.

I missed her innocent face. 

My mother is my world. My most precious.

Hovig:-“here, he is calling. Do not give him any clues. Behave normal.”

Sevag:-“ok…Hello?”

Mr. Zadigian:-“son how are you?”

Sevag:-“fine mr. Zadigian and you?”

Mr. Zadigian:-“fine son, all is good. How is uni and life?”

Sevag:-“all is good. All is perfect thanks to you.”

Mr. Zadigian:-“ no need to thank me son, you know I love you. So… Hovig told me something, he said you want your mom beside you!”

Sevag:-“ yes mr. I want her here with me. I missed her a-lot, and I know she is suffering by not seeing me too, and she misses me a lot.”

Mr. Zadigian:-“ but don’t you think, its better for her to stay in her house.”

Sevag:-“she will feel much better when she sees me every single day. I know whats good for her. Please mr. Zadigian, send her to Germany.”

Mr. Zadigian:-“ok son ok, I will send her to you, I will send mrs. Garine with her. 2 weeks later, your mom will be next to you.”

Sevag:-“ thank you.”

And he hang up the phone. 

“What happened? Did he agree?”:- asked Hovig curious. 

Sevag:-“yes, he did. 2 weeks later my mom will be here.”

Hovig:-“great, this is great.”

2 weeks later

“Hovig, I cant wait to see her, hurry up.”I said to Hovig. “Mia, is everything ready? Mom’s room? Mrs. Garine’s room…”

She cut me off saying:-“yes Sevag, yes, yes, yes everything is ready. Oh boy you made me tired. Go get your mama.”

 I smiled at her and kissed Anna and went out with Hovig. 

I couldn’t wait to see my mother after several months. I really missed her. 

We were waiting for them to arrive and finally I saw mrs. Garine driving my mom’s wheelchair.

Mom looked pretty good, she seemed happy. Oh God she is gorgeous. Her eyes were sparkling and she had her special non-smiling smile. I loved this woman so much. 

I ran to her with the flowers in my hand, “there are for you beautiful.”:- I said and handed them to mrs. Garine. “ you’re welcome mrs. Garine. Happy to see you here.”

Mrs. Garine:-“nice to see you too mr.Sevag. I am ready for everything you ask for. Your mom will walk and talk again, with the right treatment and with my help, she will be much better. And you mr. Sevag…”

“Sevag, without mr. as you used to call me.”

She smiled and :-“Sevag, and you son, you deserve the best. Go get what was yours.”

We all headed back home. 

The dinner was already ready. Mia and Anna were waiting for our arrival. They welcomed us. Mia took the suitcases to each room. And returned back to the dining room. Mia had prepared delicious Lebanese Armenian and German food. We ate and then mom went to her room with mrs. Garine’s help.

I heard Mia was talking secretly:-“ look at me, you can not run around the house anymore. No sound, we have no home, nowhere to go, we need this house and this job. Be a good girl and don’t disturb anyone, or else, I will…”

Sevag:-“stop it Mia. You are never leaving this house. You are family now. Stop hurting the little girl, she may behave as she wants.”

I held Anna hugged and kissed her, then put her down and went to my mothers room.
