MEMORY PART 6: BATHING IN HAPPINESS

My birthday was pretty lame besides Joe calling and asking me to go out. I’m not entirely sure how he found out that it was my birthday but I assume that it’s the same way Dane had found out. Lexi was in California for a wedding or we would have most definitely celebrated. I wasn’t doing much and really wanted to do something so agreed on giving Joe a second chance by letting him take me out. It wouldn’t have hurt him if we went out as just friends since he wasn’t even over his ex to begin with. I put on my favorite outfit, did light makeup and waited… and waited… and waited some more. The billionaire stood me up... on my birthday.

So the only highlight that reminded on my birthday is a text from Dane, which read “ Hey babe, Happy birthday. Hope you have an amazing day. I’m sorry that I’m not there to spend it with you but I will make up for the lost time when I’m back.” My day was made just by the fact that he called me ‘Babe’.

I’m a week older then Twenty now and as soon as Dane flew back from Hong Kong he called me and made plans to meet this Saturday. We decided to watch a movie together and set a time for 1 pm. I was a little earlier though as I needed to do banking.

It was almost one so I decided to give Dane a call. “Hey” I said as he picked up, “Hey babe, still at my office. I’ll let you know when I’m there. See you soon” I heard his voice on the other side of the phone. “Okay, see you soon” I said in a soft but worried voice. Anxiety has now settled in, thousands of questions running through my mind ‘ What if Dane stands me up like Joe did?’, ‘he said that he would take me home, how will I go home if he doesn’t come? ’, ‘what if he has lost interest in me?’, ‘what if he has found someone more attractive and changed his mind about meeting?’. I decided to calm down and went into a clothing store to spend my time as I waited for him. I came out of the clothing store at 12:53 and called him again. “ Hey” my voice was anxious. “ Hey, I’m on my way, I’ll call you as soon as I’m there” he reassured me. When I put the phone down I had an uncomfortable feeling of someone standing extremely close behind me. When I turned my heart started to beat a little at Dane’s wide smile. “I had you worried, didn’t I?" he said with a smirk. I rolled my eyes and he began to chuckle, suddenly he pulled me into his warm embrace which made me instantly forgive him. We bought our movie snacks and went in just in time for the movie.

Half way through the movie Dane, slowly tangled his fingers with mine and a smile grew on my face as his warm hand distracted me from the movie. We clicked a few photos and he told me about his trip to Hong Kong as we walked to his van. When we got inside his van, he placed his hand on my cheek as his thumb soothingly stroked my chin. He then leaned and as his lips collided with mine as time stood still with the greatest magic in the universe unfolding as he poured all his love into that kiss. Breathlessly I pulled away and turned my face towards the window as my brain tried to register the most enchanting moment in my life. “ I’m sorry” I hear him say and turn to him in confusion. “I didn’t mean to but I couldn’t help it, you have awoken something that I thought wasn’t in me. This feeling is so new and foreign to me. Your lips so magnetizing and I could fight the pull” he added. “it’s okay” I assured him. “Do you want to go somewhere to talk?” he asked. “sure” I said with a smile as I wasn't ready to part with him.

He drove for a few minutes and stopped in front of a roundabout. The roundabout had a big tree in the middle which was decorated with purple lights. It was beautiful, but the view behind the roundabout was absolutely magnificent. It was two mountains with a few houses on them and in between the mountains we were able to catch a glimpse of the sea in which a couple of ships completed picture perfect view.

"It's beautiful" I whispered in complete awe. " Just like you" he complimented. Kissing my cheek, making me feel overwhelmed with joy as he said "I like you". Looking back to him I repeated his words as we were both caught in this tranquil moment, locked in each other's eyes, both of us filled with so much of happiness that we could feel it radiating of one another. He pulled me onto his lap and I laid my head on his chest as we spoke about how we are going to make this relationship work. He ensured me there's nothing that I have to be afraid of and that he will always be loyal no matter the circumstances. With that being said I gave him my heart. The wonder, love and admiration that danced in is eyes had me lost in the moment. His lips felt like rose petals as he placed a lingering kiss on my neck and my heart started racing a thousand beats per minute. He then placed his head on my chest, listen to my heart beat as I was cuddled in his arms. We stayed in this position as we watched the sun sink in between the mountains and into the sea, The ship lights shown like stars as the night's blanket fell upon the sky, him on the drivers seat and me across his lap. We didn't say anything, there was no need. We were comfortable, we were at peace, we were enough for one another as we bathed in happiness.
