It was still early in the evening, barely 8:30, when Rebecca pled exhaustion and headed to bed. Nick went to help and check on her. Matt said he had some messages he needed to answer and he went out to the cabin.
“Go get your clothes and come on out with me," Steve said once they were alone.
She hesitated. “I don’t know. I don’t want Matt to hit you again.”
“I don’t think it"ll be an issue. He saw us on the couch this morning,” Steve said pulling her into his arms. "He knows where you spent the night, so why not start out there instead of making the trip at 2:00am?”
She thought about it a moment. “All right, let me get clean clothes and I’ll go with you.”
