Talia Voss was planted in his life to destroy him, but she gave her heart to him.

He let her in because he needed her, not because he loved her.

Ian Kane, the billionaire tech mogul with a past soaked in blood. Talia was his hidden secret, the key to the boost in his empire. She was meant to destroy him from inside, bring down his empire, and avenge her parent. But when love enters, the rules become liabilities.

When his empire suddenly implodes and his missing wife returns, Talia is cast aside, and nothing seems to make sense.

Drawn into the arms of another powerful man by a fatal accident, she begins to unravel the truth behind everything slowly. The revenge she thought she controlled, all these while was never really hers. She was just a small part of their master plan.

Now chased after by the people who raised her because she held onto a powerful secret, and torn between two powerful men, who could either be her saving grace, or her worst nightmare, Talia must fight to survive.

Talia I stood in the center of the living room, my eyes fixed on the floor. For five years, I was placed in Ian Kane's life as his mistress, to slowly destroy him from inside and get revenge for my Family. That entire five years, I had made no progress, but instead I fell in love with the man I was supposed to destroy. Victor, my foster father, had invited me to a meeting, one I knew wouldn't end well. “You've done absolutely nothing but warm his bed for half a decade.” Victor spat, his voice angry and malicious, slowly circling me. I could only fix my gaze on the floor. I knew better than to look at him when speaking. “He gave you everything—access, trust, and every secret of his. So why haven't you done anything?” I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. I raised my head to speak, but the back of his hand collided with my face, sending me to the floor. I tasted blood immediately. Before I could process the slap, Victor grabbed me by my throat, pressing really hard, making me gasp. He lifted me, my legs barely touching the floor, his face inches away from mine. He glared at me, his eyes blood red. “Please” I managed, trying to breathe. I tried to remove his hands with my free hand, but he gripped my hand, pinning it to the wall. “I’m done waiting for your sorry ass.” he hissed.” If you can't do this, I'll step in. And when I do, there would be nothing left of him, and you as well.” My breath hitched, and I forcefully freed my other hand, pressing on his hands around my throat so he could release me. The door opened slowly behind us. Isla walked in, her arms crossed, and that smug look she always had on her face when we were little. I hadn't seen her since she completed her part of the plan eight years ago. His gaze left Isla and faced me. “Your sister thinks you love him.” his tone reeked of disgust. “I think you have forgotten what his father did to yours,” he yelled, tightening his grip. I tried to shake my head at least, but I couldn't. His grip was too strong, my vision was blurring. Isla finally walked forward. “She stares at him differently. I see hesitation in her eyes,” she said. Victor groaned loudly, throwing me across the room like I weighed nothing, my back hitting the edge of his desk. I winced in pain, biting the inside of my cheeks to hold back my tears. I held my breath, trying to relieve myself of the pain. He walked toward me, his palm striking me across my other chin, making my ears ring. He crouched down, lifting my chin with his hands. “You’re ruining everything we spent years planning, all because you have a soft spot for a man who should be suffering for what his father did to you.” I buckled my knees, rubbing my hands on my cheeks that he just slapped. I fell to the floor, my hair covering my face as I let the tears run free. My chest tightened, my neck red and burning. My silent sobs were the only thing heard from the quiet room. He gripped my head in his hands, causing me to flinch. “Shh, T.” his voice was soft and caring. He tucked my messed-up hair behind my ears, using the back of his hands to wipe my tears. He kissed my forehead, petting my hair like a child. “You know it's because I love you..” “I know,” I muttered, tears still rolling down my face. He used his thumb to brush my tears off. “You know why we’re doing this. You know how Daniel Kane stole your father's Code to enhance his empire, swindled his entire assets, and murdered him. Now Ian sits on what should initially belong to you and your sister. You need to bring an end to him.” He said, rubbing my back, muttering soothing words to me. I managed to turn to Isla, watching her as she leaned on the door with an unreadable expression. “Okay.” I managed, my throat tight. I walked out of the room, my legs shaking. I caught a glimpse of my reflection in my side mirror, and I looked like a mess. I used my concealer to cover the bruises in the car. If Ian were home, I wouldn't be able to explain the bruises when he saw me. I drove back home quietly, but I couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched. Even when I got to the high bridge, I felt like I was being followed. I shrugged it off, I had more pressing issues to attend to. I rushed inside the house as I arrived, leaving my shoes on the stairs. I pulled out the laptop from the floorboard under the bed, trying to check if the files had been cloned completely before destroying the main server. It showed seventy-two percent when the door clicked open. My heart dropped. “Miss Voss?” Sora called softly. I slammed the laptop shut in shock, my hands shaking, beads of sweat running down my forehead as I shoved it behind me. “What?” I asked nervously. “Mr Kane asked me to drop the linen when I was done.” “Okay,” I said, trying to calm my pounding heart. “Are you okay, Sugar?” she said, pressing her hands against my forehead. “I’m fine.” I managed, my voice steady. She set the basket down, walking out slowly. I turned back to jam the door shut and turned to the laptop. God, this was too slow. It was at seventy-nine percent. My phone rang, startling me. Ian's name popped up on the screen. My breath hitched. Did Sora sense something? Did she tell him anything? My hands trembled as I picked up my phone. “Hello,” I whispered. “Wear the black dress we bought from Spain, and come to the main house now,” he said. Then the line went dead. The main house? He never went there or invited me there these past years. He said it reminded him of his wife. I slammed the laptop shut, hurrying to change my clothes. I picked up the laptop, running down the stairs with my heels in my hands. My watch vibrated, which made me halt. The only time it vibrated was when I got a text from Victor. “He’s not the only one with access to this watch.” If Victor was the only person with access, then who was the second person?
