Since returning home from Victor Harbour, things have been even better. Knowing that no matter what, Damon will spend the rest of his life behind bars gives me a new sense of freedom and comfort. I don’t like the fact that Everett had to pay the Judge off, but I can sense in him that he doesn’t care. I think he might even enjoy the fact that he was able to have a say in Damon’s future. The fact that I will have to testify still scares me, but if it is the last time I ever have to see Damon, it will be worth it. Everett has assured me that we will have lots of practice, that he will hire the best lawyer in South Australia, but I don’t think anything could truly prepare me for what I will have to do.
