Chapter 1
"Your husband's numbers are all unreachable. Why is that?" The man's dark gaze fell on her as he asked, hand tightening around his cell phone.
Ariella could only watch in silence. She was on a chair, hands and legs tied to the back, and her mouth sealed with tape. Her blonde hair, mixed with sweat, was scattered over her face, eyes pleading for mercy as the man forcefully removed the tape from her mouth.
It stung, and she whimpered lowly, her voice almost sore from the previous yelling. Just this morning when she woke up, her body didn't feel well, so she opted for the hospital alone since her husband wasn't around.
But upon heading back home, she was suddenly stopped by these dangerous-looking people in a van, and that was how she found herself with men fully armed on the first floor of an uncompleted building.
"Mrs. Taylor, it seems like you want this done the hard way. The fun wouldn't be complete without your husband. He owes me something important." The hardened voice came again in reminder.
Ariella gulped down with fear. "Get my phone."
"What? Do you think we're playing a game here?"
"I have a way you can reach him and it's through a number saved as Arietta on my phone." She wasn't sure but the doubt tugged at her ever since her husband left for his supposed business trip.
Her husband, Sebastian Taylor was the CEO of the NYGreen Corp - one of the biggest finance companies in New York. They got married six years ago after Arietta, her twin sister, had abandoned her wedding ceremony for her modeling and Acting career in Europe.
Ariella and Arietta were identical twins born into the famous Williams family but fate took a different turn when a female servant stole Ariella immediately after birth. She worked in the Williams family mansion, resulting in running away with the newborn baby out of hate.
That enforced so many unfortunate things in Ariella's life - from being raised as a pauper in the slums down to being mistreated by the female servant and her drunkard boyfriend.
It just happened that six years ago, she was, as usual, running from being beaten to death by the servant's boyfriend. Then she ran into her biological parents and was almost hit by their car.
She thought her life was finally changing for the better but she was only made to replace her sister in marriage. At first, the marriage was all rosy, at least for the first year and a half, until her twin sister returned to New York, and Sebastian realized the entire game played by the Williams family.
A harsh voice boomed over the phone as the man had done as Ariella said. "Why are you disturbing my peace, b***h?"
"I need to talk to my husband. Please, put him on the phone. It's urgent."
"As your servant or his keeper?" Arietta scoffed. "Though, you're right. I'm the only one who can reach him at the moment. Something that even his so-called wife can't do."
Ariella's heart shattered at the realization. He lied to her after all, just to be with his only true love. After her sister had suddenly returned to take back her position in Sebastian's life, he had also become indifferent towards her.
It shocked her even more that she was the only one he'd punished for that despite being fully aware that she was compelled by her real parents as the only condition to take her back into the Williams family.
"Mrs. Taylor's life is in my hands now. I can decide to take her life at any moment and that depends on how you act." The man took over the conversation impatiently.
There was a little pause until the familiar manly voice said in the background, more to Ariella's dismay. "Sweetcheeks, who are you still speaking to?"
"Oh, it's no one important. I'll soon join you in the bathroom, my lovely Seb." Arietta gave that response on purpose to spite her sister on the other end.
Especially because of the pet names Sebastian started calling her ever since she returned to his life. She and her twin sister had the same nickname 'Ari' but that was now used to refer to only Ariella just a few times.
A cold reply emerged from Arietta seconds later. "The fake Mrs. Taylor is who you have there. Anyway, make your decision on what to do with her fast." The call disconnected with a loud beep.
The man angrily threw the phone to the wall, gripping tight to Ariella's neck afterward. She groaned, tears streaming down her cheeks. Her twin sister and supposed husband were both having fun while she suffered at the hands of his business rival.
"Your husband f*****g took an important collaboration from me and now, he's out enjoying with a chick?" The man spat and pushed down the things on the table nearby which included her bag and everything inside.
A brown envelope fell out and it caught the man's eye as his gaze remained fixed on it. He brought out the paper result and smirked all of a sudden. "You're his wife after all. If I can't have the collaboration to myself, then I can take something else away from him."
He untied her, slowly bringing to Ariella's awareness what he wanted to take. Her hands flew subconsciously to shield her stomach; her baby was a living testament to the pregnancy test result.
While she yelled with tears, trying all the means to protect the three-week-old fetus inside her, some of the armed men approached her and pinned her down in front of them.
"I'm Scott." The unknown man was eventually introduced. "Your dear husband said to do anything I pleased with you by the way."
"It's a lie." Ariella spat amidst struggles.
Scott smirked and brought out his phone. "You don't want to believe it, do you?" He clicked on a record that began playing in seconds.
Ariella couldn't contain her shock. The record contained the voices of Scott and the other person, who was none other than her husband. Her husband was warned before she was kidn*pped but he didn't bother to plead for her life.
"See? I was still playing nicely until now. Your f*cking husband will just have to lose the only right to become a father. He doesn't deserve it. Don't you agree?" Scott's smirk widened, his right hand clinging tight to the syringe as he brought it closer to Ariella.
