CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE OFFICER LANDERS WAS parked in the grass beside a small baseball park. She was bent over the back of her cruiser, discussing locations with a heavyset cop who had thick, white hair and a handlebar mustache. They turned as Alf whipped the borrowed cruiser onto the grass and braked. Percy and Alf barely waited for the engine to stop before leaping out of the clanking car. Bud parked beside Alf in a swirl of gravel dust and climbed out of his car. Alf looked at the officer standing next to Leticia. He appeared to be in his seventies and when he moved toward Alf he limped badly. The young woman introduced Pat Linbow to them as another one of the town’s reserve officers.
