Chapter 116

ELAYNE “This is the second time they have been chased back. You don’t suppose King Mival would stop, would you?” “He’s not the type to stop. He would not. He’d most likely return to conscript and tightly guard the borders.” “Are you still planning to continue with the plan now that he’s back.” “That’s not a problem at all. In fact, it makes it better.”  “You sound so diabolical, yet so confident. You know my mother is still going to come for your head.” “You’re the diabolical one, reminding me of that when I should be enjoying this picnic. Can you not say anything about it?” “I’m sorry my dearest. It’s making me nervous too. She might find out who you are and I don’t want anything bad to happen to you.” “You mean you don’t want us to be separated.” “... Don’t say it like that. You’ll break my heart.” “It doesn’t really matter. I was planning to tell them the truth.” “They might take your title away!” “That doesn’t matter. What matters is…” “Us being together forever?” “... No. what matters is winning them over. Seriously, you have to stop doing that.” “Sorry, I can’t help it. I’m nervous.” “We’re on a picnic. Relax.” “Sorry.” Kalvin lay down beside me and stared at the sky, like I did. He slipped his hand in mine and sighed in content.  “This is relaxing. I wish we could do this everyday.” “We have a few more minutes like this and you finished all the food because of how nervous you were.” “I’m sorry!” Chuckling, I flipped over and kissed him tenderly. He finally calmed, relaxing into my kiss. We stay like that for a few more minutes before I hear an awkward cough.  “I don’t know whether to praise your breath control or shy away from this disgusting situation.” “You’re just jealous because even with your preference, no one loves you.” “She doesn’t love you either,” Susanne coldly replies. His lips quiver and his eyes water. His anxiety was back.  “Why don’t you two stop arguing for a moment? I’m assuming the queen is asking for us.” “Yes.” “We’ll be right there. I have to comfort him again with our disgusting exchange since you’re immature enough to not read the situation.” “... Whatever. Come quickly. She’s destroying the house.” Susanne walks away. Kalvin stared dumbly at our interaction. She still didn’t like me and I wasn’t a big fan of her either.  “We should go. I have things I can’t let my mother destroy.” “You know, she kind of reminds me of my own mother.” “Was she as crazy when she was upset?” “She was more than crazy. She did things that made the whole palace lose her mind. My sister takes after my mother and so does my brother.” “What about you?” “I take after my father, I think. I don’t know. I used to think I knew who my parents were.” “... Oh…” I stood and extended my hand.  “Come on, let’s return.” “You know, if you need a new family, I could be your family,” he says, taking my hand. I chuckle, drawing him closer. I place a gentle kiss on his lips.  “Thank you for the offer. I’ll consider it.” We walk back to the house. Where we had our picnic was on a hill not too far from the house. When we returned, the queen’s rampage was loud enough to reach outside.  “What is she yelling about?” Kalvin asks Tyler who’s too scared to be inside.  “Apparently, she received news that Prince Kon had disappeared from the lodge he was supposed to be in and is now on the run from both Perimas soldiers and Zerramond soldiers. He might spark a war.” “Oh… Now do you see how bad of an Idea it was to send Kon?” “I don’t need you to scold me,” Susanne said, rolling her eyes.  “What about Kanna?” “Princess Kanna was reported to have spent the last two weeks with the Duchess of Horps, allegedly bothering her. I received an SOS but I’m not sure if it’s real.” “Oh, no, it’s real.” “Well, the situation seems too bad to delay. You have the least crimes so let’s just go and face her. Hopefully, we’ll be able to calm her.” “You’re being too relaxed about this,” Susanne replies, eyeing me.  “We have to face this someday. Might as well.” “Susanne’s right but you’re right too. Let’s go in, holding hands.” “That’s a terrible idea,” we both say.  “Yes... that’s terrible.”  We walked into the house and I avoided a flower pot thrown at my head.  “That’s dangerous, your majesty,” I commented.  “YOU!” “Pleasure to formally meet you. I’m sorry I hid the fact that I’m your son’s lover. In all honesty, it was his fault.” “DON’T TRY TO WIGGLE YOUR WAY OUT OF THIS!” “I should also include that I’m his ex-wife.” “... What?” “It’s a pleasure to meet you once more, Your Majesty. I am former Princess Ariana Elayne Stavenger.” “... Ariana? You’re alive? How?!” “She didn’t die?” Kalvin answers.  “Be serious! And how did you find her?! How did you bring her back without me knowing? Was she with you the whole time? Did you hide this from me for five years, Kalvin?!” “No, no, no, no, no! I only just knew a few months ago.” “You…! I’ll get to you later. You, you had the audacity to return here.” “I was stolen back but that’s not the point. I was actually ashamed to come back. But now, I’m desperate. I want my kingdom back. Help me, please.”
