Chapter 9

Cara's P.O.V.

I don't know what I would have done if Shawn hadn't come in when he did. He really did save my life and I was so grateful. To be honest, I don't know what I was thinking about asking him to stay with me tonight. I knew he was a gentleman and wouldn't push me into anything, I didn't want to do. I felt so safe and felt like I could be myself with him without any pressure. I quickly changed into a nightie and walked back into the bedroom and Shawn just gasped as I walked towards the bed. " You truly look like an angel in that " as he got up and hugged me gently. He kissed the top of my head and I just feel into his embrace. I looked up at him and I felt myself melt into him " May I kiss you Princess?" he whispered to me. I nodded yes and as his lips met mine, I felt his hunger and passion for me. He grabbed me by my legs and lifted me up with ease as he laid me on the bed. " If you don't want me to do anything, just say the word." he said as he watched my expression. The man was all I ever wanted or needed and I just knew this was going to be so hard. I knew I had my duty as a princess, but the only man I wanted was the one standing in front of me. Against my better judgement, I said " Okay" as he lifted up my silk nightie and started kissing the inside of my inner thighs, making them tingle. He unbuttoned his shirt and pants and was left in his white t-shirt and boxers. I clenched my thighs in anticipation, I couldn't wait to see what he did next. " Can I take it off of you?" he asked and I moved up to take it off without hesitation. If I was going to let this man own me, then I might as well enjoy it. He just watched as I laid naked in front of him and he go on top of me and whispered into my ear, " Your the most beautiful woman I 've ever met, and I don't think I could ever let you go" as he kissed my neck and started moing downwards. " Then don't" I said back. He abruptly stopped kissing me and looked at me questioningly. " What do you mean, Princess?" as he had each arm on the side of me, supporting his weight on the bed. " Exactly what I meant, don't let me go." I said as he looked at my lips hungrily. " You do realize what this means, don't you Princess?" " Of course I do, I could never see myself with someone like Prince Adrian. I couldn't even imagine marrying him and if there is anyway to postpone it or get out of it, I plan on doing so." I said as I watched him to gauge his reaction. He smiled and pulled me into him, so now I was straddling him as we laid on the bed together. " Princess, you always seem to amaze me at your boldness. I promise from this day forward, that I will do anything in my power to help you. You are my light in this darkness that I thought I would never escape" as he gently put his hand behind my neck and brought my lips to his, searing it into a passionate kiss. I felt my body on fire and couldn't help but feel like I never wanted it to be extinguished.

As we laid together holding each other after making out for awhile, he was rubbing my side.

" Can I ask you something, Shawn?" " Sure my love, what is it?" I leaned into him and held his face in my hands. " What darkness were you talking about earlier?" Shawn stiffened at my question but then relaxed as I watched him think about what he was going to say next. " Well I grew up in orphanages here in Germany till I was of age to join the military. After that, everything changed. We were on a high profile mission and your father was involved where he went missing. My team and I were able to extract him and ever since then, he has always held me with high regard. He helped me get a job with Interpol and specifically asked me to help him find you." Shawn said as he took a breath. " Wow, I am so sorry you had to go through that as a child, not having a family and all." "It wasn't easy by any means, but it made me who I am today. There is a darkness to me because of that, but that's why I said that you are my light, Cara. I feel something for you so strongly, that I don't think I could ever let go." as he cupped my face in his hand. " I don't think I could ever let you go either, Shawn." as I kissed him sweetly and then laid my head on his chest in contentmen. I drifted off to a restful sleep, laying beside Shawn.

Shawn's P.O.V.

Last night after what happened couldn't have gone any better, but I was afraid of what would happen in the morning. I looked at Cara sleeping peacefully in my arms and knew I would have to leave her before the sun came out. We couldn't risk it and in order for me to continue to protect her, I had to keep everyone else at a distance with our relationship. I had to keep pretending that I was just her bodyguard and that was it. So as Cara moved over to the other side of the bed, I took that as my opportunity to leave. I crept out of her room and down a couple doors to mine. What I didn't expect was that Prince Adrian was in the room next to mine, snoring loudly with the door cracked open. I peeked in and smirked to myself. I knew I needed to get up early in order to make sure he didn't bother her again. I planned on doing everything in my power to keep him away from her, no matter what it takes.
