Chapter 24

Shawn's P.O.V.

" Are you ready to go? I am anxious to see my fiancee. This place is nice but I don't think we should come back anytime soon" Adrian announced as I was wondering why his change of mood all of a sudden. I caught him in the act, but I wonder if he really knew that I was the one who saw it all. " Okay, sounds good to me" I said as I paid the bill and Shannon meekly gave me back my change. I saw Adrian wink at her and she blushed as we turned and left. As we walked towards the car, Greg stepped back and Adrian pushed me up against the car.

" If you ever think about telling Cara about what just happened, I will slit your throat in your sleep" he said as he pushed off of me and I regained my composure. He had the audacity to threaten me, even when he was the one in the wrong. He had no idea what I was capable of, but I did the only thing I could do and said, " I understand, not a word". Adrian grinned from ear to ear and replied, " Fantastic, let's go see Cara" as he entered into the passenger side of the car and I went to the driver's side. This was going to be an interesting trip.

Cara's P.O.V.

I finally heard back from Shawn and he just said that they were leaving a diner and heading that way. I had about twenty minutes before they arrived, so I decided to freshen up. I dressed up in a long sleeve button up dress with leggings since it had become cool now in Texas during the fall. As I finished up putting on my mascara and lip gloss, I heard the door open. " Cara, we are here" I heard Shawn shoutout. " Be down in a minute" I replied as I hurried and went downstairs.

When I got to the bottom, I saw Shawn and Adrian with a big guy standing next to him. " Cara, my sweet.. I am so happy to see you" Adrian said as he came and gave me a hug. I reciprocated and as I stepped back, I saw a look in his eyes that I couldn't decipher. " Is everything okay?" I asked him. " Of course my dear, I am just so glad to finally spend some alone time with you" as he nodded to the big guy and Shawn who hesitated but turned to leave anyway. I was not looking forward to the next few days with Adrian.

Shawn's P.O.V.

I hated leaving Cara alone with Adrian, but I had no choice. I showed Greg to the spare bedroom and gave him the rundown of the neighborhood. It turns out he was ex-military as well as I, so we got along pretty well. He was alot different by himself than around Adrian. " The guy is a douche, but he pays well and well you know how that goes when your out of the military looking for the next thing" Greg said as we sat on the couch, each drinking a beer. " I know, if it wasn't for Cara's parents I would be in the same situation". I replied as I quickly checked my phone and looked in at Cara and Adrian through the camera's I installed. It seemed as everything was going okay, I knew she would text me if anything was going wrong. "Do you want to order some pizza?" I asked Greg. " Sure man, I like anything as you can tell" he chuckled as I called up the pizza place down the street. It was delivered pretty quickly and as we sat back down on the couch to eat, I heard my phone go off.

Cara: SOS

My heart dropped at that message and I proceeded to tell Greg to go with me next door. I quickly got my 9mm pistol from my side and opened Cara's front door. I yelled her name but there was no answer. I told Greg to search the downstairs while I went upstairs. As I reached the last step, I heard some muffled noises in the master bedroom. I didn't have camera's in their for obvious reasons, so I couldn't see what was going on. I gently pushed the door open and I saw Adrian standing over Cara, with her dress ripped open and her chest on view. It twisted my heart to see her in this situation, I wished I had the power to change it all. " Is everything okay?" I asked as Adrian looked up at me surprised. " What the hell are you doing here?" he asked me furiously.

" I hadn't heard from you two in a while, and wanted to make sure everything was okay" I lied. I didn' t want him to know that Cara had sent me a distress signal or else he may do something worse to her. " Well, we were about to have some fun, so if you don't mind, leave now!" he shouted. " Sir, with all due respect it doesn't look like to me that Cara is having any fun. I am the one who is still physically responsible for her, so if you don't mind, you need to leave for the night" I said assuredly. Adrian walked up to me and said, " Fine, but don't expect to be employed by tomorrow morning" he said as he stomped past me and left. I heard him slam the door as he left. Cara just looked up at me and the look of hurt in her eyes broke my heart.

Cara's P.O.V.

I don't know what it's going to take, but I will do anything in my power to not marry that man. He and I were getting along fine, especially after dinner. As the night wore on, I had told him I was a bit tired from today and that I wanted to rest. He offered to help me to bed, when we entered my room he pushed me down onto the bed, kissing me hungrily. I tried to push him off but as before he didn't comply and just pushed upon me harder. I felt trapped and asked him to stop, " But why would I want to stop, you and I are about to be married. It's not going to matter anyways, I want to take you now Cara" he said as his eyes turned dark and I was really scared.

I didn't want to sleep with Adrian, Shawn had ruined it for me for any other man. I only wanted him and I had to keep Adrian at bay. " I need to use the bathroom" I said as he continued to grope me and tore my dress down to where my bra was now exposed. " Okay, but hurry back" he said as he let me get up and I ran into the bathroom. I pretended to go and text Shawn an SOS. I hoped that he would be here in time before Adrian got any closer to me.

Once Shawn saved me yet again, I was afraid that Adrian would uphold his threat and have him fired. If I had a say in it, I would not allow that to happen. I would come clean to my parents and tell them that I didn't want to marry Adrian. I couldn't go against my values of being true to the one I love. Shawn knelt down and picked me up and placed me upon the bed. He gently undressed me and then put my pajamas on. I laid in bed as I just let him take care of me. " Are you okay?" he asked me as he laid next to me. " Yes, I just can't take it anymore. I know I have a royal duty, but my heart is with you and I cannot marry someone I don't love" I said to Shawn. " You really love me?" he asked me. " Of course I do, I cannot see a world without you in it" I replied as Shawn attacked my lips with a hunger that I never wanted to be full from.
